  • Thank you Mirko and Alessia, and all the polite commentators....

especially for the detailed descriptions of the choreography.I WILL do it-but it won`t look like this(do any of us look like olympic sprinters when we`re running for the bus?OK,you are so you do)

  • I like this song... What is the name of it?

  • @singlemalt25 "Luna Caliente" by Prandi Sound Tango Orchestra. You can find it on the "Ballroom Diamonds" album.

  • People still compare Ballroom Tango and Argentine Tango without understanding that they are two different dances, not different versions of the same dance. Argentine Tango was introduced to Europe over a century ago and the style was developed independently as a Ballroom dance until it bore little resemblance to its roots. It is highly stylised, has different rules and requires different skills. I teach Ballroom & Latin and Argentine Tango. That's 11 different dances and I love them all.

  • Could someone tell me what the timing is in Tango or any Ballroom when it gets to this level (Gold). To me the Bronze, or Silver version of dances are better, because they keep the same tempo, this doesn't seem to go with the music and looks like they can do whatever, whenever they want. I also think that that there is a jerkiness and stiffness in these type of professional Ballroom Performances and the makeup and costumes can look like paint and feathers. It looks like they are in pain.

  • @bocaknights1 These professional dancers, many times World Champions, run perfectly with the exact timing of musical techniques. Who does not know and appreciate more than the slow replays of the Argentine tango dancers and its curved, elderly, obese and discharged, or basic beginners standard dances, can not understand what is looking, of course. And now it is clear that those who can not and does not understand what he's seeing, not knowing anything else, and says critics to find it ugly.

  • @Quequa1000 I was not trying to discredit their talent. I was asking a legitimate question about the timing, as dance is suppose to obey rules. I was asking this question to anyone qualified to answer. I don't understand most of your response, as it doesn't make sense in English and seems to be a bunch of disjointed thoughts thrown together. I am a dancer and was expressing my opinion about this level of dance and performance and how for me personally it isn't attractive.

  • @bocaknights1 I'm Italian and I use the automatic translator of google, that translates badly.

  • @bocaknights1 What Mirko does in the clip can loosely be called as "lagging behind the rhythm". In essence, he is delaying foot placement: instead of stepping exactly on-beat, he steps on the backbeat, or off-beats. For example, a slow-quick-quick -sequence would change from a "step-wait-step-step" (4 beats in total) into a "steeeeee-ep-step-step" (same 4 beats). You place the foot down (and transfer weight) of the slow step on the second beat instead of the first. Hopefully this makes sense.

  • I am a dancer, first and foremost, not just a ballroom dancer. I am prepared to do anything: International, Smooth, Rythm, Jazz, Argentine, Contemporary. If you can teach me, I want to do it. I have my preferences but everyone does. I am not gonna ever say one dance is better than the other. It is not just insulting a dance, it's insulting an entire culture of people who invented and love International Ballroom.

  • Foul language shows a lack of sofistication, which is amplified by the criticism made of this video. This is International Tango at it's best, like it or not. They make it look effortless, you can't dance like that without talent, determination, and years of practice. Well done

  • she looks wooden.

  • what a load of shit

  • @elmonorizzo wtf try urself idiot and then say if it is or not load of shit

  • @AdivitMusic rright, i'm gonna go waste my time training so I can dance looking as a doll with something up my ass...... someone asked why argentines diss this crap? because people who don't know what tango is and come along this shit are gonna think that we dance like this. I find that thought quite repelling. Can't you people give this dance any other name? like the yanko....And WTF is with that music?!?!?!? have you ever heard real tango in your life? focus on your foxtrot or whatever gilazo

  • @elmonorizzo ok whatch to who u r talking..... i am pro ballroom/latin dancers that dances since 6. and i danced all of dance any style... so dont say ur style is better......................... u r just too scared to try u pussy.

  • @elmonorizzo my 80 year old grandmother can to Argentine tango...it takes real talent to do international standard...what do you mean "you people" its called international standard for a reason!

  • elmonorizzo, The truth is that the Argentines had nothing else to boast over the tango in their culture of poverty and backwardness, when they see that another kind of tango is danced and enjoyed become mad with envy, because they feel robbed by the only source of national pride they have. Argentine Tango to me is boring, slow, heavy, should be called "the dance of the hunchback zombies dragging their feet in three feet of floor and the prostitute who shows her ass and swings high heels."

  • @Quequa1000 You are bringing my country's poverty into the table? Wow, that's so pathetic it speaks for itself. I can take all the criticism you want but please keep it to the dancing before you go around making comments about a country's cultural patrimony (that you obviously know nothing about). I'm not envious but PROUD if someone wants to give a new interpretation to our music, but when this is the result I would at least ask you the courtesy of calling it with another name, that's all.

  • @elmonorizzo Who is proud of something HAS NO NEED TO GO TO INSULT OTHERS. It is you, who come here and in other tango standard video, only to insult, then you get the answers! I'm not going to write in all the videos of Argentine tango that makes me puke, I do not need to do it, because the Argentine tango is absolutely nothing for me, I don't care it, I don't like it, so I not look at him. Do the same, and no one will tell you that you are a poor people envious.

  • Wow! Wish I was that good.

  • @MrUnvcandy With train, passion and dedication is possible. My example: 2 years ago I didn't know cheat about any kind of dance. today I do competition in Ballroom.

If you want it, you can do it! Go ;)

  • The international tango will always be the best. As for argentine tango, it's ok as long as I'm not watching it.

  • @clintborez

all in all this was a really amazing comment which made me smile:)

    you just nailed it xD

  • what's the music title?

  • @championsambition

Luna Caliente - Prandi Sound Tango Orchestra

  • @championsambition

Luna Caliente - Prandi Sound Tango Orchestra

Search for casa-musica, then you will find the song! :)

  • Voilà un tango classique dansé avec une superbe élégance , c'est trés beau , bravo !

  • I know that I will get at lot of bad response for this coment from the Argentine Tango-fans - but I just saw an Argentine Tango and it is very nice, but I personally like the International Tango the most. It's more strickt, more elegant - I probarly think that because that's what I have learned to dance.

The Argentine Tango is also very interesting, and the two types of Tango is deffenetly - in my head - equals :)

  • what is the music used in this vid?

  • I personally find this version of Tango more exciting to watch.

  • perfect basics

  • does anybody know the name of the music?

  • thanks for the excelent performing, you helpt me with doing the tango on the right way now! Thanks!

  • great dance, I love it

  • Beautiful

  • is this the modern standard tango ?

  • This is International Tango (which you certainly know). And for sure it's different from Argentine Tango. Funny thing is that on YouTube it seems to be the Argentine Tango fans only who keep posting hate comments on International Tango videos, not vice versa. And that is quite telling, isn't it?

  • @Caribbean3838 I perfectly agree with you! I could never do evil and envious comments on Argentine Tango... because for me argentine tango is simply anything. Indifference is always the worst contempt.

  • agree 100%

  • @diablitotanguero Hi, As a tango Argentino dancer (and I really love it) I suggest that we shall respect all those involved in dancing.. we shouldn't open a war between those who are seeking pleasure in out lives.

  • @mesol55 What you see here is called a discussion. A heated discussion perhaps, but civilized. It's presenting arguments for consideration. War is murderous violence and destruction. Big difference, important distinction.

I submit to you that when your 'pleasure' is someone else's sorrow, they have the right to express it. Many people, not only Argentine nationals, feel sorrow when they see the caricatures that ballroom made of the beautiful Latin American dances.

  • dire bravi....e riduttivo..........eccezionali.....si nota la perfetta intesa...e soprattutto negli inizi dei passi non c'è scatto.......ballano perfettamente nel ritmo.......cosa dire!!!!!!

  • These are all very very basic figures!

  • @lace1990

Really? Are you sure they're not very very very basic, or perhaps even very very very very basic? Excessive use of superlatives often (or even very very very very very often) has the effect of detracting from, rather than supporting, the merits of a statement, as admirably illustrated by your post. You could just have written 'I consider myself to be brilliant at dancing the tango' and we would have understood what you were saying. Have a nice life.

  • @Czerniakowska bahahahahahah!!!

  • @lace1990

Same applies when it comes to excessive use of ah's.

  • Czerniakowska ... it's not about the word basic in the dictionary ... these are BASIC LEVEL figures in ballroom tango...don't speak if you don't know anything about this...this is not put here for people just looking to do some steps...it's put here for people who already have some years of experience in dancesport and they want to improve their BASIC figures...

  • Oh I see. And there was I imagining that Youtube was a public media aimed not only at entertaining and informing but also at providing technos in all manner of fields with the opportunity to attract newcomers to their activities. Had I realised that it was actually reserved for pompous, exclusionists such as yourself, I would have refrained from proferring my humble, ill-educated opinion (doffs his cap). I'm sure those at the offices of the Oxford English Dictionary will be equally contrite.

  • For the beginners, i would like to assure you that the routine is truly basic. you have to dance the tango, not "walk" the tango

  • You need to look up the word 'basic'.

  • Technically, they are doing really basic figures. It is the way they execute these figures that made it look not "basic".

I think your definition of basic means that people should just do close promenade all the way. Maybe a few twist turns along the way.

  • On a public media forum, in this case Youtube, people would expect the word 'basic' to mean what it in fact means, i.e., basic. Those who insist on uploading material which is far from 'basic' under that banner are doing themselves and dance in general no favours whatever. Again, I think your best course is to resort to the Oxford English Dictionary. You're probably confusing the words 'basic' and 'convoluted'.

  • Anyway, who insisted on uploading these material? I believe the intention of the uploader is to showcase the basic figures of the tango. To meet people's expectation would mean to upload what they want to see and what they want to see may not be right. People should be shown and be educated to understand what exactly basic figures are. In the "Ballroom dance dictionary", these figures are basic.

  • Wording like "People should be shown and be educated to understand ..." invariably precede some load of opinionated, pretentious claptrap, in which respect you didn't disappoint. What percentage of Youtube viewers do you imagine have read the 'Ballroom dance dictionary'? 80%? 90%?

  • A boy wants to learn basic english and he went to search "basic english" in youtube. But youtube shows him the meaning of " boy" and how to form the sentence " I am a boy".The boy complains to his mum,"mum, this is not basic english, i want to learn ABC." Mum responded " son, "i am a boy" is basic english, you can find "am" and "boy" in dictionary. It is really basic to form a sentence". Boy replied " how many percent of youtube viewers who want to know basic english have read the dictionary!"

  • These moves are basic relative to the advanced moves high level dancers showcase in competitions. The moves in the video are what amateur ballroom competitors would use in competition.

  • Anyone know what the tune is as I want to search for it on itunes...many thanks.

  • no, I do not at all.....it is competetive dancing, where you have to make the dance look powerful, strong and superior to others...

if you place a couple of social dancers on the floor next to them, you would think the social dancers are sleeping:)

but , noone would dance like this on a prom or something similar

sry for my english, not native:)

  • this is not basic but looks owesome

  • ok, i'm looking for actual basic, STARTING steps, other than that, dancing was great......NEXT..

  • look for the hilton couple one. that is very basic :)

  • this most DEFINITELY is not basic, not for us beginners at least...this....is impossible

  • well, what they do is not basic....

the routine is kind of basic, at least those steps are in this "syllabus" book, on which most dance schools focus their teaching...

they put all their professional skills and abilities in this routine, that's why it looks so impossible

  • @tranquillity91

you are right. the routine is not impossible - it's just to make the right "snaps" and dance it with the right elegance, that make it difficult... would like to try this routine with my partner...

  • You're absolutely right and it's a real shame, since the oher clips in this series are excellent. When it came to the tango, though, I think Mirko and Alessia rather lost the plot and drifted off into something more akin to a competitive routine. Watch a clip entitled "Hilton basic tango", featuring Marcus and Karen Hilton, and you'll see how Mirko and Alessia should have gone about this. Why oh why doesn't the dance world jettison that bloody expression "basic"?

  • In my opinion this was executed brilliantly, just like the other "basic" videos with them..

the routine was syllabus, and not too hard to dance....all the things behind steps are, what makes dancing a sport and difficult to master.

it was a basic tango routine, but they display their proficiency aswell...

    love mirko and alessia:)

  • I never said it wasn't executed brilliantly. I think the point (which has also been made by others) is that the impression shouldn't be given that this is "basic". People who might otherwise be inclined towards taking up the tango could watch this clip and think, "OMG, if that's basic, I would have no chance, so I won't bother!".

  • that is true, you are right!

but anyway, if I wanted to learn I would type in "tango for beginners" whcih should guide me to more useable videos...

all the same you are right!

    that is not for beginners:)

  • There are other Youtube clips in which "basic" is applied in a cryptically technical sense that might be understood by dance professionals but is bound to be misunderstood by ordinary viewers. I think that those who are posting these clips are altogether forgetting that Youtube is an open public medium and not one in which misleading euphemisms are appropriate. Let's all agree that "basic" means precisely what the dictionary defines it as meaning, on which basis this definitely ain't basic!

  • seems like i will fave all the dances they show :D:D:D

  • in fact, that is what you SHOULD do ;)

  • Posting in two halves...

Back Corte(Open Ending), 5 Step, Closed Promenade(with a hesitation ending), Fallaway Reverse Slip Pivot, Open Reverse Turn (lady in line on first half), Oversway with Natural Pivot Ending, Chasse, Whisk to Closed Position, Progressive Link, Natural Promenade Turn, Rock Steps, Back Corte (Open Ending), Open Reverse Turn, Lady Outside (ending in PP), Promenade Link, Back Corte, Walks, Four Step Change
