Virginia Pilot , #104 , the light stays green long enough for 3 cars to get out , so one truck the trailer is running the red light . Some days it get so backed up you can't get IN to the station much less out so that red light gets runners regular , keep em nose to tail so cars can't get in the middle

But, based on the time the light went red and where the truck was when the camera quickly panned over, I'd say he was already over the limit line when the light turned red, and that's legal, and increases the throughput of the intersection. It's perfectly safe too, as long as the traffic that gets a green is paying attention.

not that I'm trying to defend a SWIFT driver, but that light looked like it went from yellow to red pretty quickly. The that intersection was a 4 lane with a median he was probably already committed and into the intersection when the light went from green to yellow therefore he has no choice but to continue his turn. Before you go all hostile on me how many miles have you drove in a big truck? I not claiming to be an expert but I am a member of the million mile club!

Which would you rather do? Go through the light or hit the brakes, lock up ur trailer wheels, possibly jackknife and stop dead in the middle of the intersection? You're dragging a lot of weight behind you and its not gonna stop just because you want to. Its safer to keep going and I am not saying that truckers should run red lights.

Yeah, common.. Truck drivers have no need to follow the rules, or to slow down to compensate for longer stopping distances. They are trucks. They can do what they want. Its also fine for them to tailgate. After all, it won't hurt them, and they might have to lose a minute or two. How unfair.

Try driving an 18 wheeler, and you will find out very quick why he ran that light. Trucks like that weigh too much to be able to stop in time. I see it happen all the time; they can't stop as fast as cars or buses.
