hi :) just a question. after accutane, did your skin go back to being oily? i'm a bit over a month into taking the medication & prior accutance, my skin used to be hellaaa oily & now it's dry & oil free (which is something that i am honestly enjoying)

i'm just worried that after i'm done with accutane my skin will go back to being oily & then i'll start breaking out again!?!?

After accutane, my oily skin completely went away!! My face is no longer shinny anymore!! The only downside is my skin gets really dry easily. But it's not a problem, I just used aveeno daily moisturizer and it keeps my skin hydrated the whole day. =]

I still break out a little bit here and there. But it is only like a couple of small whiteheads. I don't get cyst anymore. Haha It's cool. I dont like scrolling through comments either.

I think high school is the best time to go on accutane to be honest. By the time you are in college you will have a really smooth and clear face. @mi805 Hey there. Yeah I do have insurance luckily. My mother's company cover for my expense. I only had to pay the CO-PAY for $10/month. Without insurance accutane could cost up to $250-400 a month.

@blackcat787 I had the treatment after accutane. U CANNOT DO IT WHILE YOU ARE ON ACCUTANE because your skin is super sensitive from accutane and having laser surgery can potentially burn and harm your skin. Yeah that is the only unfortunate thing about accutane which is having some scarring after the treating.... :( But in the long run u won't have any crazy breakouts again. That's good that the treatment is finally kicking in for u. It should just get better from here on!! Hang in there!!

hey its been day 50 for me now that i take accutane 10mg everyday and after

nothing improve since the last comment i made. Dude my dermatologist prescribe me amoxicilin which i took all of them already (28 caps) she said it suppose to help me with my inflammatory pimple which haven't so far. Also she mention me about the laser treatment that would partially remove the scar away. Hmmm. Only 10mg? U should ask your doctor to up your dose on your next visit. I was on 20mg for like 2-3 months and then back to 10mg for the remainder of the treatment. I don't think u should take amoxicilin because it can counteract the accutane. I know the inflamed skin sucks but just put up with it and let accutane do its job. Try not to interfere with it. U will see scarring after accutane. It gets a little better over time. I did the laser treatment which helps alot

@blackcat787 Hey there. That's good that u are seeing an improvement in your skin after 1 month!!! CONGRATs!! About the baldness, I was losing a bit a hair too while I was on the treatment. I had a bald spot on my head for a good month or so. But eventually my hair grew back. =D

U should start using BABY SHAMPOO. That helps because u dont want to use any other shampoo with harsh chemicals since your skin is already super sensitive from the accutane. It will just harm your scalp. Goodluck!! =]

@wowspec1 Hey. Thanks a lot! Remember ACCUTANE's effect varies from people to people. I was on Accutane for 8 months. I didn't see the results until the END of Month Four. During this time I was breaking out so much that I didn't have any clear spots on my face AT ALL!! I was depressed too @ one point but I just keep my head up and tried not too worry too much about my FACE!!! Over time I started to see my face get better and better. YES, your acne will go away!! hi, right now it is the 19th day that i took roaccutane

my side effects are: hair loss (pretty much), dry eyes, dry lips, and nosebleed

I experienced some hair lost too when I was on accutane. But wasn't too bad. Just wash your hair with baby shampoo. That helped my hair a lot while I was losing hair. It cleans your hair without all the bad chemicals.

You should be fine after lower your dose. SO you shouldn't worry too much about the hair lose. It happens to some patients while taking accutane.

@blackcat787 Hey there. It takes awhile for accutane to kick in. It is a little early to see the side-effects now but it might kick in later. I got a lot of nose-bleeds while i was on accutane. And chapped lips are super common, so get a lot of chapsticks because it will b like that the whole time u r on this treatment. U should start seeing the oil go away in a month or so. That's how long it took for me. Be patient and hang in there!!! =]

Your face is suppose to purge (or breakout) when you are on accutane before your face gets better. Most people stop purging at the end of month 2 but for me it lasted a month longer which sucks... Ive been told and read stuff about how after..you suddenly get digestion issues, extreme muscle pain, where you can barely walk. Have you had any terrible issues like that? Did you face get a lot worse during the 2nd and 3rd month? How bad was it? Im already extremely self consious about my face. @KatAvra I NEVER had those symptoms except my body was extra sore after working out. I am guessing that is from accutane. REMEMBER SYMPTOMS VARIES DIFFERENTLY FOR EVERYONE. My face got so bad during my 2nd and 3rd month. It hurt so bad!! Accutane doesn't affect the way you focus/think or anything like that. I am guessing people can't think because they were always so concern with their acne. ACCUTANE IS THE BEST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE!! SO WORTH IT!! JUST DO IT!! =]

A lot of it has fade out over time but unfortunately I still have some scars... The only way to completely get rid of it is laser treatment which I am currently looking into.

@3472af.... My blemishes stop out around month 5 on accutane. Post-ACcutane month 5, My scars are still fading but it is like 80% better than before. Scars don't heal, they just fade in due time. You have to look into laser surgery if u want to get rid of all the scars. I am currently looking into laser right now. Probably doing the procedure in September.

@3472af Accutane, for some people, causes serious muscle aches after a strenuous activity (in your case boxing). I had really bad muscles aches after my workouts and the pain stayed for a long period of time. Besides that, U really have to watch what you eat while on accutane. This can really hinder your nutrition as a boxer. Overall, I really recommend that you should put off accutane while you are boxing because it could definitely affect your performance. GOODLUCK!!

@chady171717 Thanks. It looks a lot better now though. =] .YEAH!! The Sun is a huge problem. I didn't go to the beach at all last summer. Your skin burns/blisters really easily and makes u more prone to skin cancer while on Accutane. Even with strong sunscreen, I wouldn't recommend going out in the sun. It will really harm your skin. I was under an umbrella the whole time while on Accutane. I was a "night-owl" the whole time on this treatment =]

Yeah It is totally normal. I got a couple of whiteheads like 3 weeks after the completion of accutane. Just make sure to keep your face moisturized it really helps out a lot!!! I don't really get whiteheads anymore now. YAY!! But if u start getting cysts make sure you talk to your doctor because that shouldn't happen.

@MaTaRu39 Yeah ACCUTANE is crazy expensive!! Average cost is around $375 for a month's supply.... Luckily my insurance covered it for me. I only had to pay the co-pay which was $10. If I were you, I would ask your local pharmacy (your best chance is at a independent pharmacy because they accept almost everything) if they accept your insurance. GOODLUCK!!

@OwenWilson123 After i stop accutane for about 3 month now. I haven't had a cyst breakout!!! NO MORE!!! My skin is less oily but i still get a small whitehead here and there but nothing compared to back then!!! =]

How much miligrams a day were you on? im on 40mg a day , most of ppl i see is on 60mg a day , idk , im worried 40mg wont be enough to get rid of acne for good..

ive been getting really bad rashes all over my body 3-4 months into accutane and I wanted to ask you, did you get raised bumps that look like flea bites? they itch like crazy!

Hell yeah I did!! It sucked nuts!! But It all went away after I moisturized my whole body. I used the aveeno moisturizer in the morning and at night after I shower. Those suckers never returned. =D

i have been on accutane for 4 months so far and next month is my last month. i don't have any breakouts but i have a lot of red spots. i'm scared that they aren't going to fade. keep us posted if/when your red spots and scars fade!

They will fade. Don't worry. My redness faded pretty quick. But then again I used emu oil which helps the healing process. WORKS REALLY WELL FOR ME!!
