@gthang5555 I don't get the change scripture reference. I try to go back to the Greek as often as possible and stay away from loose translations like the NIV whenever studying. Jewish history is also very important because they didn't think like we do and rituals and customs were different. Context is very important, but it isn't easy.

To "predestine" obviously does not mean to ONLY "foreknow" since the root word of predestine is destine or destiny...to give a destiny. God gave us a destiny, that's what that means...if you don't think so, then what? Also, "election" is pretty straightforward. 1 Peter, Romans 8:28, and many more talk about this. What do you do with these verses? Throw them out?
@MissMoriahCC Predestine does not mean to foreknow. The Bible says the foreknown are predestined. Our destiny is to be called, justified and glorified., because God knew beforehand that we would accept salvation.
Rom 8:28 is similar to Rom 9, it tells you how God can allow these things to happen and still be just.
1 Pet tells you, he is elect according to the foreknowledge of God, which is what the entire Bible teaches. God knows everything, He knows who will chose Him & who will choose death.
I think what you are trying to say is the we have free choice not free will. In other words, our will is a slave to our desires. Our wills are slaves to ours hearts which GOD defines. Theology is simply the study of God. One who denies predestination and election may possibly be saved, but he would then need to be rebuked so that his theology does not become consistently erroneous.

God has revealed another side of Him that doesn't make Predestination such a clear cut answer... you, like many Calvinists, don't see that there is more of a mystery to this subject than you would like to admit. at the end of the day, you can't come down too hard on either side.

I heard a good teaching the other day, made me stop and think about how we deal with our own lives as well as others. What the guy did was basically like "Can you picture Jesus acting like this?"
What makes us different from others? Kindness. We guide others with compassion. If we didn't, we would be no different than them. God reveals himself as a benevolent presence that one cannot possibly describe. Doing random acts of kindness will turn others in the right direction. And as they continue to meet humble, spiritual people , they will discover the difference and seek the light. :)

On the predestination topic while we're at it, if fate is the logical consequence of everyone exerting will at once and some wills being stronger than others in regards to particular collision points, then double predestination is unnecessary.

I don't think the Elect know who they are. Paul and Peter give us indications on how to tell, but the names in the book of life are unknown to us as is God's plan.
I agree that pride is evil. until I set pride aside I forced free will on my view of God. When I put that aside, scripture gave me the sovereignty of God not man!

@gthang5555 I don't get the change scripture reference. I try to go back to the Greek as often as possible and stay away from loose translations like the NIV whenever studying. Jewish history is also very important because they didn't think like we do and rituals and customs were different. Context is very important, but it isn't easy.
I can sum it up
GOD is not pacing the heaven's wishing we will accept him. He is the almighty GOD. We are here for his good pleasure to do as he wills.

To "predestine" obviously does not mean to ONLY "foreknow" since the root word of predestine is destine or destiny...to give a destiny. God gave us a destiny, that's what that means...if you don't think so, then what? Also, "election" is pretty straightforward. 1 Peter, Romans 8:28, and many more talk about this. What do you do with these verses? Throw them out?

@MissMoriahCC Predestine does not mean to foreknow. The Bible says the foreknown are predestined. Our destiny is to be called, justified and glorified., because God knew beforehand that we would accept salvation.
Rom 8:28 is similar to Rom 9, it tells you how God can allow these things to happen and still be just.
1 Pet tells you, he is elect according to the foreknowledge of God, which is what the entire Bible teaches. God knows everything, He knows who will chose Him & who will choose death.

I think what you are trying to say is the we have free choice not free will. In other words, our will is a slave to our desires. Our wills are slaves to ours hearts which GOD defines. When left to our own devices we are in our best state vanity "hebel" - Psa 39:5. Man is worthless, rebrobate and GOD can and does leave some to that.
However, he knows and decrees every step you take from beginning to end (Isa 46:10) The Fall, Crucifixition, etc. is all part of his plan to Glorify himself.

I have great respect for John Calvin. In the Calvinist-Arminian debate, I lean toward Calvinism. I believe in predestination and election. (I do also believe in free will but human will is way too weak to do anything but answer yes to God's election). But I am strongly against this video. The guy making this video could not tame his own tongue. He sinned while speaking. And what doctrine was taught? The only purpose this video serves is to irritate, agitate, annoy and anger. 1 Cor. does not apply to what you claim it does and you ought to know it now after I've told you what it is referring to.
Theology is simply the study of God. One who denies predestination and election may possibly be saved, but he would then need to be rebuked so that his theology does not become consistently erroneous.
And, of course teaching what the Bible teaches produces good fruit. Why would God teach it if it wasn't good to teach?
Jesus would be teaching Calvinism as He has been.

i think it's wrong to make it an issue as much as both sides do... our theology isn't the thing that saves us, it's Christ's work on the cross. i am so tired of both sides arguing about a non-essential issue.
i think it's wrong to stress that we know exactly how God's Sovereignty works, such as many Calvinists do( and Arminiasts too) instead of stressing Christ's sacrifice for us.

All genuine Christians affirm the most to all the 5 points of Calvinism whether they like to call it that or not. The doctrines of grace are derived directly from Scripture and glorify God the most because it makes salvation only possible through His divine initiation and power rather than our dead selves.

would you say a "Free-Willer" is unsaved? would you say an open Theist is unsaved? the root of the problem on both sides is pride.... pride that -they- have the best understanding of -exactly- how God works in this area.
i look at the fruit of all of these situations and i feel it's bad. peole are missing the mark when they preach theology instead of Christ's work on the cross.
again, would Jesus make a video mocking other Believers like this?

i mean, what should be the goal here for you and i here on YT? to tell Free-Willers that they don't have a greater understanding of theology than the Calvinists? or is it to preach about Christ coming to save us from ourselves?
leave all this Predetermined vs. Free-Will stuff for the the coffee shops bro.

i'm looking at the fruit of your delivery bro... you are preaching the Word of God to fit your specific theology. remember when Paul wrote "One of you says, "I follow Paul"; another, "I follow Apollos"; another, "I follow Cephas[a]"; still another, "I follow Christ.".... this is exactly what he was referring to.
both Calvinist and Arminiasts claim to have the "bestest" theology.... there is more mystery than we realize when it comes to salvation.

how is what you are preaching not an attempt to fit your specific theology if what I'm doing is what you claim it to be?
You quoting 1 Cor. to equate my theological standpoint in opposition to false theology to what was going on in 1 Cor. is equivocation (a logical fallacy). Paul, Apollos, Cephas, etc. all taught the same thing. So, it wasn't a theological issue -- it was a pride issue. Big difference. Nice try.

you should answer these questions(even if it's just on the inside) and check yourself.
1. do you believe Free-Willers are saved? (if so, how pertinent is it to exalt Predestination ahead of Christ's work on the cross?)
2. do you feel that this rant produces good "fruit"?
3. would Jesus do this video?
you are a smart doode who has pretty solid theology, but don't put theology ahead of the Cross man.

I heard a good teaching the other day, made me stop and think about how we deal with our own lives as well as others. What the guy did was basically like "Can you picture Jesus acting like this?"

What makes us different from others? Kindness. We guide others with compassion. If we didn't, we would be no different than them. God reveals himself as a benevolent presence that one cannot possibly describe. Doing random acts of kindness will turn others in the right direction. And as they continue to meet humble, spiritual people , they will discover the difference and seek the light. :)

Luke 10:22 says that everyone to whom the son chooses to reveal the Father knows the Father.

Calvinists don't deny freewill, they understand man's nature is dead and would never choose Christ unless God gives a heart of flesh in place of our heart of stone. the natural man is not able to please God on its own, it must be changed... read Romans 8...

Well, we deny that man's will is completely free. Man has a will yes, but it is enslaved by sin. It is God who saves man, not man who saves himself.
