There's no "each other" in The Sims. You (the player) control up to 8 Sims at a time, and there's no opponent, except for when you decide to make your Sims fight each other. And yes, you can get your Sims killed, but it can take some doing.

whoever initiates the action does what we consider the "manly" side of it, iirc, regardless of gender. so if you're controlling a female sim and initiate the action, that female takes the dominant role.
