what a hansome man, what a soothing voice. a real cajun son..i listen to him and love the pictures in this video. its like a small trip to the islands.
I have know Eddy for over twenty years and i remember this era i used to travel between his buses and then i lived in nashville for nine years. and yes i was an eddy raven groupie...lol...
I dont get it with the Nashville crowd. ER better than K chesney ever thought about bein. Not to mention clowns like bg&rch &rascal f in flatts. Come on people forget videos & listen to the MUSIC!
@steelermule What made country and western music has been lost. All of the real country artists are gone and now we are getting what would have been considered pop music a few years ago. Eddy is one of the best. You can't listen to him and not smile and get that good feeling inside from something special. Wish the "old timers" were back.
Kornfucious, thank you for posting this. It was ay-back in 1985, when Eddy visits the Netherlands to do here some concerts for KRO-Radio and several gigs around. I used to be his road-manager and drove him around. Frank Mayers was with him. On this video: the boy with the white and yellow sweather (left from him).
We had lots of fun. I remeber his announcement for this song as he does in this clip. He and Frank were very friendly and nice guys.
This is a little classic, a song I have been searching for awhile...It was something of a "crossover" hit back in the day. I remember the radio version, and whether we heard it right or not, everyone thought the lyric at 1:24 in the song was "smokin' that old dope and drinkin' rum", which would have been brave, even in the late '70's, but would have been honest lyric, since grass and hash was as common as beer in those days! Either way, a classy little song, sincere and touching.

Great song. Reminds me of my senior year at Deer Park High School in 1981 in Deer Park, Texas.
