  • I always wanted to try nikuman...

  • That lady, erm dog, is a culinary genius. Respect.

  • I'm confused everytime I listen "Dough" and "Dog" XD

  • if you make it with chicken instead of meat, does the name change??

  • in khmer its called "nomebow" yummers :P

  • That was so cute when she was cooling the cabbage!! And the way she cut the spring onion blew.my.mind!!

  • does japanese use ovens?

  • what do you do if you don't have a Styrofoam box?

  • @noshizaful just leave it in a warm place, like beside the oven or radiator, until it doubles in size

  • @deathsevil Myself, I make bread often, so I made a more permanent warming place.. I bought a Styrofoam box like what she is using, but I installed a small light fixture with a dimming switch to adjust the temperature inside, haha... I'm kind of fanatical about bread.. :)

  • @pernanjp I am a EE student. I saw this post. I added a heat sensor to it and I have my first perfectly risen dough. Thank you for this idea!

  • @TheAnkhLord Glad that the idea helped. :)

  • @noshizaful Yeah, any warm place would do. If you have a cardboard box big enough to fit it in, you could place the cardboard box in a warm place for a while (maybe an hour or so) to warm it up, then place the dough in there, then cover the top of the box with a towel. Cardboard is a good insulator, so it should retain enough heat inside to keep the dough warm.

  • Am waiting for the dog to eat the stuff while shes making it :D

  • In the beginning when the dog was barking, it was like he was going "OI GET BACK HERE. YOU'RE NOT DONE COOKING YET."

  • Why do I torture myself by watching these when I'm hungry? D:

  • wow her cooking skill is amazing

  • recipe for two, roll the mixture into two balls.

  • I just made your recipe for Nikuman! They were great! Thanks!

  • Why do I watch every video expecting the dog to cook..

  • @MrMeepmoop But the dog IS cooking, the woman is actually a mind controlled robot >:D JK

  • how would you know when the pork is cook?

  • i love the guys voice XD

  • If you cook them and then freeze them, would you steam them again to thaw and prepare them to eat?

  • i´ve made them and they are very delicious!!!!

  • wow. Great for busy hours? shee, i wonder what the place is like when its not busy hours. O-o

  • Can these be steamed in a vegetable steamer?

  • FINE PEESEES

  • lies. everyone knows it's impossible to make such beautiful buns, haha! mine always turn out lumpy, but i guess it's my twisting technique! looks so yummy...

  • it reminded me of sanae's bread in clannad lol

  • the name is not nikuman :) and i dont want replys like how do you kno, i know cus my mo makes theeses and shes chinese and its called baoza

  • @XxlostmycupcakexX 1. It's Baozi. 2. Chinese call it Baozi, where as Japanese call it Nikuman. Just saying.

  • @cradledani I know i was just saying the chinese name xD

  • @XxlostmycupcakexX It's the same thing. The Japanese name for it is Nikuman.

  • @XxlostmycupcakexX This dish is popular in many countries and cultures. It's called baozi or rou bao in Chinese, nikuman (if it contains meat) in Japanese, mandu in Korean, siopao in Filipino, momo in Tibetan, etc. Dough stuffed with meat is hardly only a Chinese invention.

  • Bao?

  • @paramorerocksearth YES YES are you Vietnamese? :O it was exactly what i was thinking!!

  • @TheGeorgiaTran Isn't Bao Chinese? ._.

  • @TheGeorgiaTran Nope I'm part chinese and javanese not japanese but javanese and Bao is in chinese by the way. :)

  • I just made them 2 minutes ago, they taste incredible!

  • Francis looks so cute at 5:27! :)

  • when mongolians need to rise a dough, what we do is, put warm water in the flour, and the put it in a bowl, cover it, put layers of blanket around it, and then put the area with the thinnest blanket facing the radiator. haha yes in mongolia, it gets like -45 degrees celsius in winter, so the radiator heats pretty hot hahaha

  • give some to the poor dog hahaha he does a great job! i love this channel

  • She reminds me of Cooking Mama!!!!

  • Its Po's Favorite food :D

  • Try steaming buns without a steamer - but on a bed of rice in a pan! A real hassle

  • @BlackWolf4830 does sound like a real hassle :P

  • that is one weird ginger.

  • holy crap it's a talking dog

  • Does anyone have suggestions for what flour to substitute to make this recipe gluten-free? It looks so delicious!

  • @summertimelime17 I feel you. I'm glutenintolerant myself and it is a pain to avoid foods containing wheat. I'd say the gluten free baking flour you find in larger supermarkets should do it along with previous experience in the kitchen.

  • @KrayzieBoneThug4Lyfe Thanks :)

  • when they were like, the dough is ready to sit im like ok next part but she pulls out a random box

  • Can you just use chicken or beef stock insted of the mushroom and shrimp juice?

  • I buy these at the chinese place across from the laundymat all the time

  • @badkittygrl4567 where?

  • I thought the dog was talking at the start... xD

  • @Jerry1V I think the video is narrated as if the dog is talking...so no suprise there :P

  • she can do anything with those hands.

  • ah.. that looked very easy! Im going to go do that now..

  • I love eating those buns! My dad always makes them for his restaurant, but he always brings some home. It is very tasty the way my dad makes it, and I think your way is tasty, too! :)

  • When whenever I need a warm humid place for dough to rise, I boil a kettle of water, put it in a pot and place it near the bottom of the over and put the dough on the top rack.

  • My grandmother use to make something like this. :D Though, she is from the philippines and makes it a bit different. There was some kind of shredded meat.. I'll have to call her up and ask.

Anywho; back to the point. I adore your videos, they are a joy to watch and simple to fallow along. :D

  • it is called siopao.

  • ill come back when that dog dies..

  • LOL because everyone has a large styrofoam box

  • i really like francis he is a cute dog

  • i love watching how she makes the nikuman, but I don't think I'll ever try it - don't have the patience nor the skills!

  • @Moontess I tried it (but a little difrend) and it's not as hard as it looks! and it reeeally tastes good ;)

  • I don't like buns but i really salivate when i watch this..:x. Why did she cook so amazing

  • ... and chop into fine pieces.

  • Comment removed

  • is it me, or does the process of preparing doe aganizingly slow?

  • at first i thought the ginger was pigs feet

  • I'm trying to cook these tonight for my family - especially for my little bro who asked me to do them xD i've already cooked ramen for my mom's birthday and she loved it!^^

  • Who the hell has a Styrofoam box in their kitchen? Fuck I thought I could finally replicate one of these meals.

  • @VexedPumpkin u just need a space to store in heat like a cooler filled with hot water if if u dont have one pre heat an oven to the temp she says to keep it at then turn it off and place the dough in there so it can rise leave door open a bit so it doesnt bake just so it can get warm

  • @VexedPumpkin You just need to keep the dough in a warm place to rise. It doesn't have to be in a styrofoam box. I put my dough in a cold oven with the oven light on, and it works just as well.

  • ..Anyone else thinking of Spirited Away? When the dad eats this at the restaurant?

  • @littleAzukari That is exactly why I clicked this video

  • can you sub the Dashi stock (Shiitake & Shrimp juice) for something ells?

  • I wonder if anybody over at CWD have ever thought about cooking that dog...

  • I made these today and love them! Easier to make than it looks and it took less time than I thought it would. I don't have a styrofoam box like that so I put the dough on a heater instead. Also, 1 tablespoon of ginger is way to much for my taste. People who don't absolutely love ginger should be careful adding that amount. I will reduce it to 1 or maybe even half a teaspoon next time. Otherwise, very good!

  • My friend and I made these! They're super yummeh :3

  • the dogs like "kill me -.-"

  • do you need the mushrooms? i can only get the dried kind here and they taste like crap...

  • @bloodmoon660 the mushrooms were dried... u soak them for a long time and yeah they smell and taste bad... but cut up finely its not so bad.

  • Ah fuck that, ill just buy it.

  • This show is so awesome, it teaches me how to cook and to get better in english

  • where can I buy a styrofoam box? Can i also just put it in some other place? man i love these vids but the requirements are sometimes a bit strange to say the least...:P

  • my sister love ur videos hehe lawl and yeah :D so..i sub you and rate you :L

  • Can I use chicken instead? How long will it take the nikuman to cook then?

  • @an1mefreakazndrama of course

  • Pero que rico se ve *.*!!

  • I love the idea of dumplings, but I don't eat meat...maybe I could just stuff mine with mushrooms and veggies.

  • It's silly, but one of the better meals I had when I was in Japan a couple of months ago were steamed pork buns from Family Mart. They were fantastic.

  • @YoshiIkagawa asian food is yummy :)

  • I couldn't stopping lookin' at the dog

  • OMG there's almost the same in the tibetan kitchen!! It's called MOMO but the dough is thinner than in this MV...

  • My mind was blown when she cut the spring onion.

  • EPIC MEAL TIME!!!! WITH DOG!

  • @Abbekej have you been watch nigahiga's epic meal time...?

  • สำเนียง ทำกูเวียนหัวเลย แสรด มึงพิมพ์ซับมาให้กูอ่าน ง่ายกว่าไหมวะ

  • My mom makes this all the time. THEY ARE SOOO GOOD

  • like.... il never feel bad about paying money for these buns (8 dollars for one where i live). this is alot o work!

  • Just prepared! They are awesome ;) thank you!

  • the chef's initial speech always ends with "mas" ! what does it mean? im curious :)

  • @CounterInMyKitchen her last word is "tsukurimasu." masu just indicates that the word is a verb. tsukurimasu means to make.

  • @i8thefood thankyou very much :)

  • THIS IS AMAZING! I'm going try to make this for lunch, gonna be the envy of the lunchroom....lol

  • hi, what is the purpose of potatoe starch ?

  • I made this myself and it was delicious! Thank you for the recipe!!

  • LOLS Nikuman from Chihayafuru!

  • nikuman is from niku (meat) + man (bun). In Chinese (malaysia, indonesia, singapore, etc), we have: meat bun, char siu bun, big bun, etc

  • lol my mom also made pork buns today haha~ what a coincidence

  • Hahahaha, Uchiwa!

  • wonderful... have wanted to learn how to make these for ages... look really yummy

  • Could you make the dough in a bread machine set to the dough cycle? These are one of my favorite things.

  • lol I'm eating one right know, but I didn't make it. :p

  • This is awesome and it makes me miss the islands.

  • omg this is one of my fave food! :D

  • why do i watch youre videos when im hungry D: ?

  • Chihayafuru anyone? :D

  • Thanks. These (full meat version) cost 2 bucks each in Chinatown, New York. This will save me a lot of money! Off to find some shredded pork bun recipes. :)

  • 長ネギのみじん切りのコツがすごく参考になりました

  • umm gonna make some today lol

  • If I were rich I would hire this amazing women to be my full time cook. I would even move to Japan so she wouldn't have to live in America. I would pay her as much she asked for.

  • why do you need to expel the air?

  • beautiful, i love your show and your cooking, keep it up!

  • what makes some nikkuman sweet? do you have to add in a different Ingredients for it? Like plum sauce?

  • Was I the only one immature enough to laugh out loud every time the dog said "Shiitake"??

  • Usually when you buy steamed pork buns in the supermarket, they usually give you a tiny amount of meat and a large portion of the bun...

But when you have legit, handmade pork buns, this is a perfect example of how much meat should be in there. It tastes x500 better than store bought kinds.

  • 2:19 the cutest thing i have ever seen *.*

  • Lol that dog is one of most chilled out dogs I've ever seen man! xD

  • into fine pieces

  • She so cute ;u;

  • "slice the ginger" I suddenly felt sorry for the weasleys.

  • @greenglitterpuff12 What did the Death Eater say before pointing the wand at George's ear?

  • @greenglitterpuff12 hahahahaaha took me a while to get it

  • I-a love Francis' Italian accent.

  • @fightbox4 It has a different name in Japanese, but it's still a Chinese dish. And how are you going to say that when the video says it's Chinese?

  • Comment removed

  • @fightbox4 Do you understand that this is a take on the Chinese meat buns? Of course it's going to be a LITTLE different, but it's a Chinese dish. And of course I've had them. I'm Chinese myself and I've had them in Japan... they're the same thing.

  • @fightbox4

  • @NippleOfNippon learn english and get back to me :)

  • @fightbox4

oops, i thought you are japanese.
