@deathsevil Myself, I make bread often, so I made a more permanent warming place.. I bought a Styrofoam box like what she is using, but I installed a small light fixture with a dimming switch to adjust the temperature inside, haha... I'm kind of fanatical about bread.. :)
@noshizaful Yeah, any warm place would do. If you have a cardboard box big enough to fit it in, you could place the cardboard box in a warm place for a while (maybe an hour or so) to warm it up, then place the dough in there, then cover the top of the box with a towel. Cardboard is a good insulator, so it should retain enough heat inside to keep the dough warm.
lies. everyone knows it's impossible to make such beautiful buns, haha! mine always turn out lumpy, but i guess it's my twisting technique! looks so yummy...
@XxlostmycupcakexX This dish is popular in many countries and cultures. It's called baozi or rou bao in Chinese, nikuman (if it contains meat) in Japanese, mandu in Korean, siopao in Filipino, momo in Tibetan, etc. Dough stuffed with meat is hardly only a Chinese invention.
when mongolians need to rise a dough, what we do is, put warm water in the flour, and the put it in a bowl, cover it, put layers of blanket around it, and then put the area with the thinnest blanket facing the radiator. haha yes in mongolia, it gets like -45 degrees celsius in winter, so the radiator heats pretty hot hahaha
@summertimelime17 I feel you. I'm glutenintolerant myself and it is a pain to avoid foods containing wheat. I'd say the gluten free baking flour you find in larger supermarkets should do it along with previous experience in the kitchen.
I love eating those buns! My dad always makes them for his restaurant, but he always brings some home. It is very tasty the way my dad makes it, and I think your way is tasty, too! :)
When whenever I need a warm humid place for dough to rise, I boil a kettle of water, put it in a pot and place it near the bottom of the over and put the dough on the top rack.
My grandmother use to make something like this. :D Though, she is from the philippines and makes it a bit different. There was some kind of shredded meat.. I'll have to call her up and ask.
Anywho; back to the point. I adore your videos, they are a joy to watch and simple to fallow along. :D
I'm trying to cook these tonight for my family - especially for my little bro who asked me to do them xD i've already cooked ramen for my mom's birthday and she loved it!^^
@VexedPumpkin u just need a space to store in heat like a cooler filled with hot water if if u dont have one pre heat an oven to the temp she says to keep it at then turn it off and place the dough in there so it can rise leave door open a bit so it doesnt bake just so it can get warm
@VexedPumpkin You just need to keep the dough in a warm place to rise. It doesn't have to be in a styrofoam box. I put my dough in a cold oven with the oven light on, and it works just as well.
I made these today and love them! Easier to make than it looks and it took less time than I thought it would. I don't have a styrofoam box like that so I put the dough on a heater instead. Also, 1 tablespoon of ginger is way to much for my taste. People who don't absolutely love ginger should be careful adding that amount. I will reduce it to 1 or maybe even half a teaspoon next time. Otherwise, very good!
where can I buy a styrofoam box? Can i also just put it in some other place? man i love these vids but the requirements are sometimes a bit strange to say the least...:P
It's silly, but one of the better meals I had when I was in Japan a couple of months ago were steamed pork buns from Family Mart. They were fantastic.
Thanks. These (full meat version) cost 2 bucks each in Chinatown, New York. This will save me a lot of money! Off to find some shredded pork bun recipes. :)
If I were rich I would hire this amazing women to be my full time cook. I would even move to Japan so she wouldn't have to live in America. I would pay her as much she asked for.
