If the NWT was a literal translation like they claim, then Jn. 8:58 would not be rendered "I HAVE BEEN", but instead "I AM" like the Greek and many reputable translations read! @rachelmmmmbourne You may be right about the things having masonic origins, but neither the Watchtower nor Awake are part of the church's teachings, only it's 'theme' (for want of a better term). It's the equivalent to (and in some cases actually) how they decorate their buildings, and at least officially it's to do with being alert for the end of the world, and not the masons. Even if it is, 99+% of the membership don't see it that way.

You are aware that the modern beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses have very little to do with Russell. Unlike some religions, Jehovah's Witnesses will own up to 'errors' and change things. No modern material has any Egyptian or Masonic symbols on it unless it's a picture showing something Egyptian or Masonic.
Jehovah is an English translation of God's name, like Jesus. It's not a big deal that Hebrew lacks a J, because Jehovah isn't a Hebrew word. Many characters in the Old Testament have names beginning with J - Jacob, Joseph, Jeremiah, Jonah - so why do their names begin with J unless they were translated?
I'm no longer a Jehovah's Witness, it just annoys me when people claim that they are 'teh evil' because of some ideas of some early members that were never even part of the religion to begin with, or that they selected a form of God's name other than the original (which we don't even know any more anyway). Seriously, Jehovah is found in the King James version, which was printed in the 1600's. It's not something Russell just made up.

If the NWT was a literal translation like they claim, then Jn. 8:58 would not be rendered "I HAVE BEEN", but instead "I AM" like the Greek and many reputable translations read! @rachelmmmmbourne You may be right about the things having masonic origins, but neither the Watchtower nor Awake are part of the church's teachings, only it's 'theme' (for want of a better term). It's the equivalent to (and in some cases actually) how they decorate their buildings, and at least officially it's to do with being alert for the end of the world, and not the masons. Even if it is, 99+% of the membership don't see it that way.

It doesn't? Really? Does that pyramid shown in this video have Watchtower Bible and Track Society written on it? I keep hearing people claim this, but I can't tell what it says in the videos I've seen. Some videos have super imposed the words on the image but it could say Witchtown Bubble and Treat Soloist for all I know. I don't go to the hall anymore but I don't believe everything negative about JW's either. I live in PA so maybe I should go check it out myself.

This is a very good scripture...that JW's do not practice per the disfellowing doctrines they enforce. And, one cannot simply walk away without all whom were friends or family shunning them. I did that. I did not subscribe to the belief systems. Now I am not a part of my family. That is wrong. A person should be able to walk away, if they do not believe it, without the consequence of loosing family members and friends.

You are aware that the modern beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses have very little to do with Russell. Unlike some religions, Jehovah's Witnesses will own up to 'errors' and change things. No modern material has any Egyptian or Masonic symbols on it unless it's a picture showing something Egyptian or Masonic.

Jehovah is an English translation of God's name, like Jesus. It's not a big deal that Hebrew lacks a J, because Jehovah isn't a Hebrew word. Many characters in the Old Testament have names beginning with J - Jacob, Joseph, Jeremiah, Jonah - so why do their names begin with J unless they were translated?

I'm no longer a Jehovah's Witness, it just annoys me when people claim that they are 'teh evil' because of some ideas of some early members that were never even part of the religion to begin with, or that they selected a form of God's name other than the original (which we don't even know any more anyway). Seriously, Jehovah is found in the King James version, which was printed in the 1600's. It's not something Russell just made up.

JW's 'own up' to errors when there is no other way to get out of the mess they are in. Why does their god get things wrong all the time and change his mind on things? How can they say they follow God when they clearly follow men and the ramblings of the watchtower. God didnt make the bible hard to understand, you do not need anything else to teach you.

Love is merciful and shows pity. A loving father may punish his children, but he would never torture them! And who is responsible for the excruciating agonies in hell? The answers would seem obvious. If such a place really exists, then God would have to be the creator of it, and he would be responsible for what happens there. Can you accept that? Bible says: God is love. 1 John 4:8 Would a God of love inflict torture that even humans with any measure of decency find revolting? Surely not
