  • Matt,

I must have that mambo bell that you played at the end. How do I go about getting it?

  • Matt,

First off, let me say that it was an absolute pleasure to watch your video and the craftmanship you put into making this instrument. I have a question though...

How thick is the steel that you use?

    Peace....

  • nice!!

  • Sorry I did heard them! They sound great! You are an artist! I love the bongos and the congas and now the timbales too!

  • That is just a masterpiece, my first set of Timbales when I was a kid, were made in the same copper color! They are just beautiful can you make a video with the sound? I would love to own a set.

  • Matt... I'm droolin' here!

Are those top tuned? I've been hoping someone would make top tunable Paila. Any chance you have any detailed close ups?

I'm selling something... definitely selling something!

  • The beauty and art of the Timbal.....

  • Matthew Smith is one of a dying breed who takes great pride in his craft (art). DEFINITELY worth the wait and $!

  • Matthew, What can I say other than that your craftsmanship & the love you put into your work are nothing less than perfection! keep up the good work buddy, because you have earned & carved your indelible mark as a drummaker in the world of percussion now & forever.

  • Alafia Brother Matthew!

I hope that you are well!

What a great video of your metal work! I totally dig the authentic heads you put on the finished product! My four "Ritmo" congas continue to sound incredibly fantastic. Your work IS amazing as abure Dario says, I hope that you will post one of your conga work soon.

    Stay Well!

  • Matt, keeping up the tradition started by Gonzalo Vergara,Candido Requena and Alfredo Farach in Havana of the early 50's. Following in the footsteps of Natalio Junior Tirado and Jay Bereck.

Matt is an amazing young talent, what love and dedication. Taking AfroCuban percussion to a much higher level than ever before. A true perfectionist.
