He was to be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2) fulfilled in Matthew 2:1. He is named in the old testament, by the way. He was to remain there "Forever." (1 Samuel 1:22) Is he still there? No, he is dead. if you read Samuel 1:28, it says he would be dedicated to the Lord as "long as he lives" refering to the same time period and purpose as forever. I liked the Buddhist's stance even under this bias view. It seems to me like the Christian fails to see the Buddhist point of view in any capacity and simply rejects it because he believes the bible to be without fault. Lets not forget that the Judeo-Christian line of religions didn't start until 4000 years ago, and people were around 100,000 years earlier according to archeological evidence. Thirdly, he endorses slavery in the 64 commandments (no, there are not 10, there are 64, which you'd know if you actually read your book). Basically reduces women to nothing more than slightly above the value of a donkey (if you carefully examine the 10 commandments you'll find that out pretty fast).

Because no matter what he responds, it breaks down into a moral argument to which the Christian cannot win. I could likewise say your book is the way of the "devil" because your god asked Abraham to ritually murder his son Isaac, which is morally abhorrent (the fact that he stopped him from doing so in the end does not change the fact his command was abhorrent). I am a Catholic and believe whole heartly in god and his teachings. I also recognize that the bible was interpreted and written by men and like men is flawed, yes even if the men who wrote it say its true. I totally respect your faith but some of your points are wrong. People do not praise the buddha in any way, he is seen as Mahatma or "wise one" just as someone would show respect to a great philosopher.Buddhism isn't really a religion it is more like a philosophy or way of life. there's many kinds of Buddhism, and Meditation is scientifically proven to alter the human mind physically and make you less stressed, and more happy. The Bible was indeed written by at least 40 people, and it all harmonizes well, with divine guidance. Man alone could not. (2 Peter 1:21)

@Jesusisthetruevine Christianity started out with Essene teachings, then went to the Roman empire, taken on most of the Mithras cult - that's the reason it became the official religion. Sundays, December 24th (originally 21st) - these were holy days of Mithras. Then Later it got Teutonic (German) influences (Byzantine empire), that's where e.g. the concept of Hell originates from. And basically all folk traditions and a lot of old gods got in too. You should really learn some history.

You can't just ignore the entire old testament. Christianity did not begin with the cross. Jesus took part in Creation, Jesus is God. (John 1:1, Genesis 1:26) Christianity started from day one.

Jesus took part in Creation. (Genesis 1:26) God said, let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness. You can read the same thing in John 1:1-3. There were many prophecies describing the messiah. He was to be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2) fulfilled in Matthew 2:1. He is named in the old testament, by the way. Isaiah 7:14 says a virgin shall conceive. and bear a son, and he shall be called Immanuel. It is fulfilled in Matthew 1:21-23. Thanks.

jjpetkusii, I think It would be wise for you to study on hell. In turns out hell is not an eternity of torment as many had believed. Remember Samuel was dedicated to the temple by Hannah? He was to remain there "Forever." (1 Samuel 1:22) Is he still there? No, he is dead. if you read Samuel 1:28, it says he would be dedicated to the Lord as "long as he lives" refering to the same time period and purpose as forever. Forever means "as long as a person lives."

No, I am not wrong. That view is wrong. The "smoke" of their torment ascends up forever and ever, meaning as long as they live. You have taken things out of context. Sodom and Gomorrah suffered "ETERNAL FIRE" in Jude 1:7, and was to be an EXAMPLE to those after who would live ungodly. (2 Peter 2:6) They are NOT still burning today. They are ashes. Just as Malachi 4:3 says the wicked will be turned to ASHES! Eternal torment is NOT Biblical, and came from mythology. The scriptures must be STUDIED.

Forever means as long as one lives. I see you did not really study the concept of hell enough. You cannot interpret privately ( 2 Peter 1:20) the definition back then is NOT the same as today. Just like unicorns are considered mythology today (A Horse with a horn on it's head) The REAL unicorns in the Bible is the indian rhinocerous. The Bible says the fire will eventually go out. Isaiah 47:14 (Speaking of the punishment of the wicked) says they will be stubble, and burn, and then there will be no coal to warm at, NOR A FIRE to sit before it. The coals will get cool, which means the fire will go out, no more fire.
Jeremiah 17:27 also mentions Jerusalem would suffer UNQUENCHABLE fire. (2 Chronicles 36:21 - Fulfillment.) Are they still burning? No!! The fire obviously went out at some time. Eternal torment is wrong.

Sure, Subatomic particles seem to be refered to in Hebrews 11:3. It also predicted innumerable amount of stars before scientists thought there were only a few thousand, and many, many more.

I liked the Buddhist's stance even under this bias view. It seems to me like the Christian fails to see the Buddhist point of view in any capacity and simply rejects it because he believes the bible to be without fault. If one allows the bible to be just another book on the shelf written by men for men, then you can begin to have a real discussion about the differences between the two religions. Simply quoting a holy book is no basis for a discussion like this.

The only base you have for any of your arguments against any of these religions or theories is from biblical quotes, involving the heavily fallacious assumption that they are correct to begin with. Nobody has ever empirically demonstrated the existence of God, let alone a connection to it in any scripture or human. 2. Recorded history only goes back a few thousand years, Jesus existed BEFORE the creation, and he predated Buddha, because he was prophecied of well before that time.
3. God tested Abraham, to see his obedience, he did NOT kill Isaac. READ the story FIRST.
4. The Stories ARE proven true, and It is full of science, and history, and fulfilled prophecy. Too bad you are blinded.

Thirdly, he endorses slavery in the 64 commandments (no, there are not 10, there are 64, which you'd know if you actually read your book). Basically reduces women to nothing more than slightly above the value of a donkey (if you carefully examine the 10 commandments you'll find that out pretty fast).
Also, your god endorses warfare, gives no good reason for why he does things besides "I'm angry and need to vent" and then sends perfectly good people to hell simply for being unaware that he exist

Because no matter what he responds, it breaks down into a moral argument to which the Christian cannot win. I could likewise say your book is the way of the "devil" because your god asked Abraham to ritually murder his son Isaac, which is morally abhorrent (the fact that he stopped him from doing so in the end does not change the fact his command was abhorrent). Second, he mind controlled a Pharoah into a set of actions that ended up killing himself and his people.

I am a Catholic and believe whole heartly in god and his teachings. I also recognize that the bible was interpreted and written by men and like men is flawed, yes even if the men who wrote it say its true. I refuse to burn my neighbor if he works on the sabbath and I refuse to stone my children if they do not obey me. I also respect buddha for the idea of seeking truth in yourself and through meditation (similar to prayer, no?) and im pretty sure buddha said he was a man and not a god
