So, what's the scoop? Is this thing ever going to run? Not that I'm particularly anxious about it; perhaps it went into a black hole of it's own? Haven't heard a word "newswise" on this phenomenal undertaking. Is it a GO or a NO GO? Anyone out there know? Is anyone out there? Hmmmmmmm
Aaagh, people, this experiment is victimless, and will remain so. In fact, the benefits in terms of infrastructure, employment etc. are as far-reaching as your ignorance.
Science for the sake of science is about the most pure thing we can aspire to in such a corrupted world.
there is no danger. proton collisions are common place in nature. now, maybe if it were uranium particles mixed with the proton particles, there would be a slight danger, but protons themselves will d nothing. People just fancy the idea that every extraordinary thing will bring about the end of the world. Besides, it was already launched a few times and nothing bad has happened.
There's really no risk unless they fuck up and put different molecules in there. If that happens then who knows what would happen. Maybe a black hole? Or maybe just an explosion hundreds of thousands times larger than an atomic or hydrogen bomb.
am i the only one who can see that this is the modern day version of Tower of Babel? When people of all languages and creed said to themselves "Come let us built a tower so high to reach the heavens", and when God saw what they had done, he confused them thus the tower was discontinued. likewise CERN scientists from different language/nations couldnt agree how to work this...
i'm with you on your observation. when's the last time man has actually put war, profits, and power to the side when new science emerges? Polio Vacine? Just like the Cassini rocket with all that plutonium onboard - scientists typify the personality that will justify gambling with life in the pursuit to know 'how things work" it is a kind of sickness.
sacrifice & learn. These (super rich) will sacrifice u & me 4 new knowledge. holocaust victims were used as experiment solely 2 benefit themselves &/or loved ones or strangers as well but not by intent. The selfishgene (flesh) at work.
LHC still not working if its discontinued. the tower of babel all over again. They call this "God particle" & it doesnt work, tower of babel was built 2 defy God to reach the heavens. Remember titanic? Even "God couldnt sink these", oooh human pride. Jesus said to Peter "Get thee behind Satan 4u think as humans do", humans will emitt new world order & a ruler which mask behind Lucifer himself & the rich atheists behind it dont realize
So then I said..."super collider? I havent even met her yet!"

Anything relative to the speed of light is a risk; we are choosing to open a precarious door. LET' S DO IT!

Stupidity. The risk is too high all for the sake of curiosity.

i have heard one scientist use the term ' god particle" but he was in Antarctica focusing on super high altitude studies with the use of balloons.
