I had 2 of these amps just sold 1 of them recently for $356.00 in mint condion in original packaging, collectors will pay good money if they are cared for. I also have a 3020i looks really rough but the sound is great for its age.
che ampli da sogno...il suono e reale e caldo lo devo comprare ne o sentiti suonare ma il nad 3020 e unico e particolare se non ai un grande orecchio non puoi capirlo complimenti................
All the parts i replaced are exactly the same values nothing has changed. Using a modern part compared to an old one is going to have no effect at all on the sound of the amp when your talking about caps. Lower ESR on the power smoothing caps may have a positive effect because of the way NAD use the transformer sag to create some of the bass it definitely would not be negative. Changing the values of caps in the audio path would definitely have a negative effect however these are all the same.
Couldn't replacing the caps change the sound in a bad way? I mean, surely the designer took into account the specs of the parts, and then maybe compensated for these lower specs by designing the circuit in a certain way. So, by using differently specced parts, you could upset that whole design. Just something to think about ...
I have a NAD 3225 PE, which is basically the 3020i with the added Power Envelope circuit. Sweet amp. But I won't be changing any parts, unless something breaks ...
The asshole bass reflex ports are part of the reason these speakers sounds so good.
It's called HiVe II and is a new type of port technology which uses a straight rifled design to accelerate air flow and reduce turbulence. HiVe II technology has the ability to move air in and out much quicker than a conventional port, the result is fast powerful bass coupled with superior transient response. (Monitor Audio Web Site)
