Ya the 80's were great! Bloods and Crips killing each other, crack, AIDS,war in Central America, Reagan, two recessions, increase in homelessness,Rise in Moral Majority fundie Christian Conservativism, increased tension with Russia and out of control military spending, tax cuts for rich, releasing the mentally Ill onto the streets, and VALLEY GIRLS!!!!AHHHHHH!:O
I agree the 80's, so much fun, friends beach, parties great music. This band and Claire were carefree and something that is lost to the poor youth now...inocent and full of joy.
@messimartino They're still here. Time never ends. If you don't believe me, come to San Francisco where there are more 80s clubs than you can shake a stick at. The 80s are alive ansd well.
@McSpacerson Yes...the 80's are alive and well in the city. I've been to the 80's dance at Mighty....and looking forward to the Depeche Mode night on Dec 2nd....can't wait. There is also a restaurant/club in Bellflower in Los Angeles that is 80's every single day.
Man, I like her. But that video is just awful...and what is with the lion?!? That's not happy..that's some dumbass director forcing the band to act out some equally dumbass idea he had.
i COUld be. but im not.. whats my problem. if they were me.. they might be happy. i could be happy . i cant figure this out. if they were me, and i was you..
Still got Goth though, just about. But very few school age kids would be brave enough to dress up like Alice Cooper or Siouxie Soux in what is now the afrocentric inner cities.
Yes, the white section of the population werent being taught to hate themselves back then or having anti racism and diversity love pills shoved down their throats at every corner. The result was a joyful and hedonistic self expresssion that wasnt hurting anybody else.Nor do I ever recall these new wave glamsters ever playing with guns or knives. I dont know when it really started going rotten but the new age of multiculturalism certainly has a lot to answer for.
@rubysson57 Well, could it be the accesability of the computer that allows nearly anyone, with the knowledge, to assemble their own band and market themselves to the populace that might have the same criteria? So, an impressionable age group might just respond to seemingly provocative 'artists'? Which might explain the degradation in music in all genres.
@rose6921 bubble (no s,never never never an s) is plaid by the wonderfully scrumptious jane harrocks who you can see in little voice,if memory serves)claires only acting role was as susan in gregorys girl...
@dobbsiancant Clare did continue to act for quite a number of years but under the name C P Grogan, notably as the original version of Lister's girlfriend in Red Dwarf but quite a bit else besides.
When she sings "I would like to climb high in a tree" it reminds me of one of Michael Jacksons favorite things to do. Sort of makes me sad for him. I wish that where ever M.J. is now that he's happy.
Absolutely delightful!! I remember this very well. It was one of those songs that progressive rock fans like me weren't "supposed" to like, but I adored it. Still do. An innocent and welcome breath of fresh air in what was a wonderful period for British pop.
Ah! The 80s. Welcome back to those care free days. Beatiful synthezized & guitar music.. Great fashions. Clear cut. Lots of colour. (possibly best fashions, certainly most interesting hairstyles) Rubix cubes, Logo T-shirts. The 'beatutiful decade'. It was. Yuppies. Still big and chunky mobile phones (owned by rich businees people). There was a certain kind of optimism having left the 'sorded' 70s. So much was to happen in this decade too, music and politicaly speaking, just like in the 60s
@regalseven - there was anger (its easy to find 80s hardcore videos), but still a lot of this joie d' vivre that is missing nowadays. youd be committed nowadays if you ran around singing a song like this. or mugged or shot.

This song is cool because it shows how we hide our feelings about love with activities and crazy things...the pain of loving is so big that better no see it
