Steve landed at a D.A of 9500 ft in California, as for the Eagle its stillborn the RR guys say nothings happening,The nice things about Experimentals you can fix the designs short commings, & to think it started with the RotorMouse and Don Hillberg meeting with Dave Domanski in Corona Ca.
The are now offering the Rotorway Eagle with a new body design and turbine engine. I don't see Rotorway redesigning the body of the 162F this far into production. This task will probably fall to an owner/ builder as an aftermarket modification, if this happens at all.
@airkraftinc ....I know, Just saying. I remember my father bringing me to work and I would sit up on his bench watching him build the first versions of the Executive. It was so cool going from the Scorpion to this.
Helicopters in general are intended for relatively local operation. If you need to go cross country you might want to consider an airplane. If you've been flying a helicopter for three hours you'll want to land for a break. This is probably why most helicopters are designed in the 2 to 3 hour endurance range. You could add more fuel to the JetExec, but it is not recommended for gross weight considerations.
I just finished watching the discovery channel where a guy built one of the piston kits. The performance was quite good, with a turbine it would be excellent. Nice job
Actually been looking at a Rotorway or two..Cannot decide what i wanna do. have a bunch of R22 time. How wold you rate their reliablity/safety? And im unsure of piston or Turbine..??????
@philipetheridge I can imagine it being nicer to fly than the R22. I wonder if the turbine will price it out of competition though, or is the turbine comparible to R22 in running costs?
man these are beautiful helicopters, why can't Robinson make there R22's and 44's look much better and more like this??? how do these fly in comparison to an R22??? thanks
$90,000

I have a nearly completed Rotorway JetExec turbine available for sale for $90,000. Are you looking for a project?

can 2 people fit in this heli?

To bad they never tried to improve the body. It is so flimsy especially around the doors.

You can't beat the turbines for ease of maintenance and reliability.

Is there a gearbox going to the original belt clutch system? Or is there a gearbox with it's own system to attach to the main shaft?
BrassAxe 2 years ago
The KISS conversion uses a geared transmission that does away with the belts of the piston version.
airkraftinc 2 years ago
Can I install this kit myself? Or would that void any warranty..
BrassAxe 2 years ago
Yes, you can build this yourself. It's in the amature built category.

Rotorway Exec is much nicer to fly than R22. Autorotation is better. Wait for certified Talon to give R22 a run for it's money.
philipetheridge 3 years ago
The JetExec is a sweet conversion for the Rotorway. I highly recommend the turbine over the piston.

"real pilot's license". Now that's funny.

If you can fly a Rotorway, you'll have no trouble with the R22. They are very close in feel.
airkraftinc 3 years ago
If you do not know turbines can you build this kit as easy as the orginal piston kit??
TEXWAKE 3 years ago
The JetExec is easier to build than the piston version.
airkraftinc 3 years ago
it would not be wise to fly without some kind of instrucions
notar1 3 years ago
I've seen several Rotoway helicopter that have been rolled in the first 10 hours due to lack of proper training.
airkraftinc 3 years ago
not suprised to hear that..
notar1 3 years ago
I doubt there's any rotorcraft that doesn't require a certificate....including autogyros.
miketacoma5 3 years ago
Must you have a real pilot License for helicopters?
20144628 4 years ago
Yes. You must have a pilot license to fly a rotorway.
scott98390 3 years ago
wow how much...
LEGANCW 4 years ago
I can build for about $100K complete
airkraftinc 4 years ago
@airkraftinc 100k. Excellent. I should be better than an R22, with I presume giving you more time to enter autos
