@JustAnotherYtuber No he isn't, give me examples of this? He has a cause back home. Thats where most of his motivation comes from. He lived through one of the worst periods in Irish history and probably has a strong hate for the British.
And for more. He envies Jimmy. He even goes as far as saying "How does it feel to have everything." He wants the life that Jimmy has but realistically knows he can't have it but at least when he's with Jimmy and his wife, they treat him like a real person. He is truly one of my favorite characters on the show because he reminds me of the tragic hero who becomes a villain at times. Reminds me of a mixture of Two-Face and the Phantom from "The Phantom of the Opera," but without the singing.

In fact, Richard feels nothing when he kills. The war has dis sensitized him. Richard almost took his own life for that reason.
Richard don't give a fuck! He wanted revenge for Jimmy's wife who genuinely showed compassion towards him. She was his friend and now after the last episode he has even more reason to seek justice.

He is kind of unique in the Atlantic city of the show and he wouldn't be a terrible character for Richard to spend time with next season.

And for more. He envies Jimmy. He even goes as far as saying "How does it feel to have everything." He wants the life that Jimmy has but realistically knows he can't have it but at least when he's with Jimmy and his wife, they treat him like a real person. He is truly one of my favorite characters on the show because he reminds me of the tragic hero who becomes a villain at times. Reminds me of a mixture of Two-Face and the Phantom from "The Phantom of the Opera," but without the singing.

@kilderok Dear Hannah, I am the reincarnation of the fictional character Richard Harrow, and have suffered an amazingly similar hideous warwound. Richard doesn't kill for pleasure. If that were the case, he'd be a mass murdering killer. He kills because its the one thing he's good at. Everybody treats him like a freak even though he fought for them and his country. Not only did he lose half his face, he lost himself as did Jimmy. Its not pleasure he feels. In fact, Richard feels nothing when he kills. The war has dis sensitized him. Richard almost took his own life for that reason.

It did seem as if there was a second of mutual respect between them. They're both soldiers but Richard lacks the true motivation of one if you ask me. Then again Richard is a lost soul hence...

@213ARod i can't tell if your agreeing with me lol i don't know if richard kills for pleasure, it seemed to me his feelings of disconnection from other people (and his obvious skill) simply make it easier for him to do so. I also think he would have done whatever Jimmy and it just so happens that Jimmy needs him to kill, he hasn't yet killed anyone for personal reasons on the show

@213ARod Richards "shell-shocked". Something soldiers sometimes experience is the feeling they are still on the battlefield long after they're home.
And he definitely doesn't kill for pleasure. Read his facial expressions. That's not the look of someone getting satisfaction. That's the look of someone doing his job.

I wish I could say I liked Owen, but I never have, and now that his 'replacement Jimmy' status has been promoted from being 'as applied to Nucky' to 'as applied to the entire show', I like him even less. I did like the murder scene in the bathroom. It felt very real somehow.

I'll bet he isn't going to let anyone know until it comes tie to kill them that he's their worst enemy. I mean, the guy is a sniper. He's good at NOT letting the enemy know about him. Or if they know at all, it's too late by the time they realize it.

Owen has NOTHING on Richard Harrow. Richard had his gun drawn before Mr Lucky Charms had his. Richard's line, "I may yet" is a foreshadow of things to come. Those two won't be teaming up. Owen is slimy and not trustworthy. Richard will fight for whomever he is loyal to.

@blpalv15 it seemed like there was a moment of mutual respect between them, everyone richard connected to is gone and owen new him for a soldier right away. i think owen is a soldier too, and while he is certainly not trustworthy from nucky's perspective he is devoted to a cause unrelated to the accumulation of personal power or money. He is kind of unique in the Atlantic city of the show and he wouldn't be a terrible character for Richard to spend time with next season.
