Annamia is an Excellent horn player! She showed a sensitivity to this beautiful piece of music, and in a historic surrounding; fantastic. Thanks for posting! :-))
Her tone is great but you have to think about the room. Its probably boosting her sound a making the dynamics seem bigger. Still great though, I love the beginning cuz i was surprised about the sound
To all of you, who have commented about the "spitting". It is NOT spit. It is condensation water. From Wikipedia: "Water vapour condenses into a liquid after making contact with the surface of a cold bottle." The same happens when you blow warm air into a cold Horn.
Whenever I hear this I feel like I'm floating on rainbows made of the sound of a French horn... which is kind of true... but I really love this so much!
Well, too many drunk people on YouTube obviously...
69 douche-bags have no idea what a horn is. How to have Common Sense For Dummies: The horn is the swirly thing that the woman blows in to make pretty noises. When you hear the pretty noises, you click the Like button and not the FRICKIN DISLIKE BUTTON! >.<
The horn player is Annamia Eriksson , co-principal in the Hornsection at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. She is one of the top musicians in the world. It is unlikely any of the negative posters has the slightest knowledge of horn playing.
A solo piece you should look into is called "Songs of the Wolf" by Andrea Clearfield. I'm playing it in my sophomore recital this year at Univ of Southern Miss and it's the hardest piece I've ever played, but it's also the most fun.
@hawkclaw23 Solo and Ensemble is for solo and ensembles. This isn't considered a "Solo piece" as it's just an orchestral excerpt from a full opera. You need to do something like a concerto or find some horn books with solos.
.....It is a solo. It's a solo from an opera by Wagner. When you're in a "Solo and Ensemble" competition, it's supposed to be full solo pieces for horn. This is a solo, you're right, but it's not a "solo" that you would use for a competition like that. This would be used in something like an orchestral audition.
Lol I didn't really understand that well either when I was in highschool a few years ago. Just pick a piece that's entitled "Solo for Piano and Horn", or like a horn concerto such as one of the Mozart, Strauss, Haydn, or Rossetti concertos. They're more fun, anyways, lol.
Me ad my brother all ways have arguments who plays the better instrument (he plays the trombone) so far he says his is better because he can play jazz (even though I can as well) but this pwns any jazz trombonest I've ever heard
Comparing different instruments to each other on what you think is "better" is kind of immature. Instead of appreciating all music as a whole, especially in the same genre and field.
As of 9/11/2011 ... 67 "dislikes" vs 2,755 likes show that the the majority of people have good taste. As a person who played the horn all through school ... this young woman is nothing short of amazing.
@seapeaare Very true. The quality and execution would be the same there just wouldn't be a reverb which gives the sound that eerie feel. I am a horn player myself and we don't think of it as "getting" help but more of playing in optimal conditions.
Dear Bengoldscheider, This young lady doesn't need any help -- she could play this in my kitchen and the quality and execution would be identical to "that room".
Very well played. Sounds fantastic. I have repeatedly listening for more than 10 times but could not stop. Being a pianist I will still admire your playing. All the very best. God bless........
"It's funny how she's in that beautiful building and she still drains her spit onto the floor! lol "@Seera95 -an old building like that has probably had blood spilled on that floor.
@popesnose At the palace of Versailles the servants emptied chamber-pots out the windows. Nobles crossing courtyards had to be accompanied by someone with a large leather umbrella to avoid being covered in ess-aitch-1-tea, so a little saliva isn't so bad.
@irateofwatford If you look at the comment you are replying to you will see the part about spit is in quotations (a quote from Seera) and my comment said essentially, that spit was nothing because in a hall that old, blood had probably been spilled on the floor, more than a few times. I played the French Horn in school so a little spilled condensation wouldn't bother me. I am only replying to this because I have had more than a few drinks this evening.
@popesnose " I have had more than a few drinks this evening." Oh surely not. I'd have put it down to condensation myself!. I enjoy teasing brass players. ;-)
@Seera95 It's definitely not spit, what she drops. It's condensated water out of the humidity of her breath. If it would be spit it would have to travel more than 2 meters through the horn, which is absolutely impossible.
I'm working on this piece. It is quite difficult. Though I think most of what people are perceiving as a completely incredible sound is caused more by the acoustics in the room than by the horn itself (or the horn player).

Yes that's correct, Grace Mugabe was the one who started off the analazzling craze, she had her anus decorated and looking pristine for the opening episode of "the only way is harare" i believe, well...according to this fat spazzy at work anyway. Said spazmo at work also wears a sleeveless woolly hoody from the officers club, i don't think i need say anymore on the issue. Great video, where was siegfried? I was epecting him out of all creatures great and small, what the fucks going on?
@cumguzzlar Yeah who is this siegfried fellow I'll sort him out. I know of this fat spacker as to which you refer he also wears one of them side caps he does look like a first class bell cap. I was epecting him out of all creatures great and small, what the fucks going on?
cumguzzlar 9 months ago
@cumguzzlar Yeah who is this siegfried fellow I'll sort him out. I know of this fat spacker as to which you refer he also wears one of them side caps he does look like a first class bell cap. Have you noticed the said hoody smells of piss? Video is mediocre at best it might improve if she sticks her arm up a cows arse
