  • It looks like it would be so much fun to work there

  • I love this ride. I'm a big gardener and so enjoy going in the greenhouse and learning how people in other lands grow crops. Thank you for your videos, I always enjoy them :)

  • LOL When I rode this in 1990, they still had the hydroponic plant section. Here we are 21 years later and that technology is still NOT being used at all to feed the world's increasing population.

  • During a HOT day at WDW, the line is usually short, its perfect to go an relax.... and LEARN! I LOVE this ride!

  • ühm_Í_fÊèl_so_lônélÿ_tÓDáÿ

  • One of my friends is an entomologist that helps with the natural pest control with the plants in Living with the Land.

  • top 5 disney world relax rides, Number 1 Hall of Presidents , Number 2 Carousel of Progress, Number 3 Living with the land, Number 4 Tomorrowland Transit authority, Number 5 Magic Kingdom Train

  • this is my fav ride at epcot

    next to soarin

  • wow they used to have a live narrator?

  • @MetalDuckOnline I think they still do

  • @theaterqueen95 no they don't, because I was there a few months ago and they had a taped narrator.

  • A surprisingly fun adventure!

  • We came across this ride by accident. It was our last day at the Resort and we went to Disney's Hollywood Studios to ride Rock n' Roller Coaster and to see Lights,Motors,Action! Extreme Stunt Show. We had already gone on everything else in both Disney Studios and Epcot that we wanted to earlier in the week. We decided to go back to Epcot to ride Soarin' one more time, but we were too late and FASTPASS was out, so we were standing in the Land pavilion and then noticed Living with the Land.

  • @sanebear68 us too by accident and it was so great I wanted to go again, but never got back. The video doesn't do it justice

  • my fav places to eat at epcot are: the land, japan, paris, germany and italy. good food!

  • @CeletialDarkness Yes to the land (especially sunshine seasons), japan (Teppan Edo!), and biergarten in germany, never been to either french place or the place in italy

  • @theaterqueen95 italy has a new pizzeria, and paris has le chefs de france.

  • Disney World is the best

  • yeah awsome video!!

  • R42: Thanks for posting all of your videos. I am a huge fan of the dark rides especially those in Disneyland. For those that do not know Marsha Mason (actress, The Goodbye Girl) provides the voiceover here.

  • I love Disney World and your videos are some of the best I've seen!

  • @girghosts to me it sounds like an instrumental version of listen to the land

  • I've been and still am searching for the music starting at 4:50-6:00. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • i hate being picky, especially after such a good video, but it's disney world not disneyland, as you stated in the video title :/ lol

  • My title says Walt Disney World and also includes the word Disneyland to help with searches: not everyone searches by the right words.

  • @ru42 True dat RU! Nice video.

  • no cm on the ride anymore, recorded track but other then that pretty much the same

  • There is a reason CM's are no longger on this ride... Disney couldn't employ enough CM's to keep it running... The line was unusually long because there would be few boats running... and most CM's hated being on the ride because it's 15 mins long... and it gets boring real fast-- I would know I used to be a boat captain on the Land

  • @Emmarrgghh2 really? i work there now and i'm still finding out new stuff about it. i know that we used to spiel but we don't anymore

  • oh wow, I think I remember this one!!!!!

  • The CM on the boat didn't sound very enthusiastic. He sounded like he was reading a piece of paper and didn't really want to be there.

  • Now if I were just sitting in the Land Grille enjoying a meal with their awesome fresh grown tomatoes while watching this......

  • Yeah this was closed when I was there Tuesday unfortunately. Oh well, at least can see it again here and maybe when I go again sometime

  • This Ride is Currently Closed To Refurbishment, will be open in the Fall

  • Thats the only ride thay didnt ruin i hope when it opens again they dont take away all the plants and sets for some crappy screns like spaceship earth.

  • yeah, I was there when Walter Cronkite was the narrator of Spaceship Earth and as a 13-year old, it was one of the greatest things I had ever experienced, his voice just came out of the speaker on the backseat of the ride and it was really something I'll never forget.

  • I love this ride, it is really cool :) Too bad it is closed right now and will be when I am there :(

  • Is there a mp3 or video of the music at around 5:30?

  • I have been searching for that music for years now and it seems that nothing has surfaced up yet.

The only way one could get the music is to either record right next to a speaker, which Disney isn't very fond of, or get the source music. Which Disney doesn't ever want to release.

So right now, looks like we won't be getting it for at least a while.

  • I knew I wasn't the only one! Damn...that really does suck, I love the ride and especially that part.

  • i like the music at 14:41....nice video by the way! Great Job!!

  • A brilliant song track...!

  • i m going this firday with all mah freinds i cant waite

  • i always go here when i go to epcot center.i was there last mother's day weekend but there was no narrator like in your video.good job! thank you for posting!

  • you can almost smell the ride from watching this, fresh vegetables.

  • disney and universal are great, and sea world too cant wait for manta

  • i'm going tomorrow !!!!! whoaa!

  • this ride is actually really cool. Idk why lol but even my cousin like it were are 17 and 19 and we love ROLLERCOASTERS so for us to find this cool is shocking lol

  • I like it at 6:03 when it goes echoey - it's like the disembodied voice of a Bond villan.

"Remain seated Mr. Bond. Resistance is futile. You will hear more about THE LAND"

  • I went on this ride. it was so amazing!

  • The one in Fl. - That is another AWESOME ride there!!!! Personly.. One if my favs!!!!! Thanks!

  • Nice video. I've never been on the ride, but the guy doing the narration - I can hardly understand what he's saying, there's no animation in his delivery. He's coughing his guts up and stumbling at one point...trying to rattle through it as quickly as possible. It must be a pretty dull job reciting that script again and again. Why don't they just have it all narrated like the indoor bits with the recorded female voice?

  • This must be an older video. They just recently got rid of the live people and now its all recorded narration. I kinda miss the people but I think the new way is much better. One less paycheck disney has to give out now too.

  • yeah it is, soarin wasn't there when he showed inside the land pavilion.

  • For some reason, I probably think the song playing at the end sounds more of a country song, than a Disney song.

  • it is, thats why haha

  • Does anyone know the music that is played throughout the narrators speech on cultures and farming techniques (around the time the american farm finishes)

  • What a great ride.I love that revolving resturant upstairs. You can see in the upstairs bedroom of the prairie farmhouse!lol

Plus the butter shaped like Mickey Mouse was fun to slice up for your cheese bread lol.

  • Hi ppls!!Im making a USF rct3 recreation!!!

I am right now making Production Central and finished the others!!(not amity,or the place wheres the MUMMY ride)So,Im gonna post a video!PLZ HELP ME!

  • great ride. wish they had the same woman narrator. the new one is ever so annoying. the ride has beautiful music too

  • I went here last summer and it was awesome......and over 100 degrees.....like Africa hot(we were in Disney's Animal Kingdom at the time)

  • i feel sooooooooo sad looking at epcot videos...i just went there...i would love to be there again anytime soon orlando rocks!

  • True story:On one of my first visits to Epcot,I had lunch at the revolving restaurant---originally called The Good Turn---one floor above this ride, where it overlooks the first part of this ride. After who-knows-how-long I was staring at the desert scene, with its simulated sand storm,I tore through 4-5 iced Cokes in what was most likely record time!

  • LOL- that is great, thanks for sharing! - - RU

  • @ctdsnark I rode that too when I was there in 1985. Back then it was sponsored by Kraft. I thought it was rather unique.

  • Aw, I love this ride. Its so educational.

  • i love this ride

  • this is a relaxing ride.

  • last time I was there they did away with the actual ppl with the mircopohones..now its a recording...:( oph well

  • i agree... its still a good ride but i wish they still had people talking.

  • omg! i went to the rotating resteraunt where they had the character thing and there were these hyper kids in the booth infront of us and this lady came and started yelling at me cuz "I" hugged pluto 2 hard when it was the frickin kids in front of us!!!!! i was 6!!!! and it ruined my vak!!!

  • yeah this was a pretty good ride

  • I have heard Nestle is no longer sponsoring this pavillion. I hope they don't mess it up.

  • pssh thats a lie

i was just there and they are still sponsoring this pavillion

  • Thank you for featuring the original theme song during the montage at the end!! I miss it! I sung along and was suprised that I knew the words from when I was 14!! Im 31 now.

  • wait, did u post this on the same date u took it? because i was there on the same day!

  • when i was there i didnt get to go on it bc there was so many people there -_-

it must have been fun though right?

  • HEY IM RIDING THERE!!!!!!!

  • Do you mean that you are in the video? If so, who. - - RU

  • I hear that they are making a real Amish ride there too:) it be like going to Pa. but more fun right?

  • Thank you so much for this video!

  • The ride Ops let us bring our dinner and drinks on there, very cool. Its a good place for lunch/dinner and there are several attractions in the same building.Go there after dinner time to get out of the crowds.

  • This ride had a 3 hour wait the last time

I went to Disney in 2005. I never got to

    go on it xD.

  • after watching this video, it must be pretty easy to get to be a tour guide for the LAND ride. That guy is mumbling a lot. Difficult to understand him.

  • I currently work at this attraction and while the onboard narrators sadly are no more, many of them still work at the attraction including Michael, the captain in the boat on this video. Nice throwback video though, good work :)

  • just curious, but is it hard to get a job at disney world? Is it really competitive?

  • I'm not sure about that. I think it is easy to get a job there, but probably not the kind of job you are after. I think the jobs that involve performing as characters or being a manager or being a chef or server are very

  • difficult to get. Sanitation, ride operator and sales staff probably are easy to get jobs. They require a spotless record and lots of enthusiasm. Also remember that while working at Disney is a dream for many, living in Orlando is a nightmare. Very few tourists get exposed to the nasty

  • city of Orlando, which is not a nice place at all. If not for the magical Disney parks, Orlando would be an obscure, dirty, sad place.

  • hmm, don't workers transfer from one ride to another periodically to avoid boredom? Or maybe not. Department stores keep employees cooped up in one aisle for years.

  • great vid and no im 32. lol

  • Just love going to Epcot and all the thought put into the rides to entertain and educate us. I remember we did this at night and after the ride I was so thirsty and the water fountain never tasted so good. All those vegetables growing made me hungry! Thanks for posting!

  • I remember going to the land exibit lst year and food rocks was not there. Living with the land was closed it looked kind of creepy. Nice vid anyways. may the magic be with you.

  • I went on this after eating catfish at the Nemo restaurant, and when I saw the catfish in the ride, I made a joke saying "Hey! There's my dinner!!" Only to find out right after I said that, that it WAS my dinner...

  • yeah all the food eaten at Disney is grown there..or raised there.

  • No, they do use the food grown there in the restaurants, but it is a tiny fraction of all the food eaten at Disney.

  • I don't doubt that they use the fish in the restaurant, but I doubt they can farm enough fish to supply the demand of the restaurant. I would guess they would need to harvest 10 to 20 fish per day for just one restaurant's catfish needs. That would deplete the catfish pretty quick. I figure they would have to have at least 3000 catfish in the tank to harvest 10 to 20 per day.

  • Great video, I visit WDW a good 20 times a year and I have to say YOU provide the best WDW videos there are, I thank you for providing these. I will be watching as it makes me more excited about my next trip! Thank you! I subscribed.

    Sam

  • i hope they never close it down

  • RIP the guysho are in the boats :(

  • I was so upset; because I wanted to eat at their resturant where it was all the Disney grown vegetables, but we had ate. I forgot what is was called.

  • I bet you're think of the restaurant the Sunshine Seasons. It's an awesome place. There are several stations with all different types of food. Kind of like a food court. I highly recommend it. For me it was the best place to eat in the entire park. Don't miss it. Price wise it's not bad.

Also, in the Land is the Garden Grill where you can have character lunch/dinner.

  • I think I remember they had a food court with all healthy vegetabale dishes. I wanted to eat their and have lunch with Donald Duck. I live all the way in Central Califonia. I have been there since 1996.

  • I remember this is the August 1996, I went with my parents. If I recall there was this monitor, where I picked up a phone and the monitor was a lady taking to me and I think could see me. She asked to talk to my mom and she talked to her on the phone, I dont recall the details. I remember going throught this ride and the green houses, I believed we were told that's where the crops, plants, and etc for disney are grown...

  • It's a shame if WD does get rid of the guides. I went on in September 98 on the last boat of the day and there were only about eight of us on the boat. The guide turned the mic off and took the tour in a more conversational form which added a nice personal touch. You don't get from the typical recorded BS which is pretty typical of tours.

  • The guides on the boats are done with, they're not coming back. The song is still there however. (The instrumental, not "Listen to the Land").

Which brings me to my question, does anyone know the name of that instrumental? I love that piece of music. This is my favorite ride at Epcot now that Horizons and the original Imagination is gone.

  • such a boring ride lol realli was... nice and relaxing though

  • This ride is needed after a long day of walking in the hot sun...

  • I remember this! I like this ride, and my lil sibs do too. But mom says it's boring.

  • Epcot is my favorite! These rides are some of the best in the world. So hopeful and positive.

  • Last time I rode this, January 2007, there was no tour guide on the boat and the song was taken out! Is there still no tour guide and what about the song?!?

  • was there in may 17, 07 still no guide, probably got relocated to souring

  • I have a funny story about this one. It was in the fruit section and our tour guide said "whos in the mood for a fruit smoothiy". I was the only one who raised my hand, she said "great whos buying" and I pointed to myself. Anyway great job on the fliming Ru.

  • Which restaurant in The Land pavilion overlooks the ride at the desert segment, please? Thanks.

  • I eat there i think it is a organit resterant and it rvels I think

  • The name of the restaurant is Garden Grill. It is an all-you-care-to-eat family style character meal. Its open for lunch and dinner, prices are around $20 or so, more expensive at dinner time.

  • Why did they get rid of the song ? I thought it had a very catchy tune.

  • I love this ride :) Thanks so much for making this!

  • this ride is so great and insightful, I love it.

  • this ride bored me 2 tears. i was so happy it was our last ride 4 the day

  • So you went on the Imagination ride before you went on this, just like I did the last time I was at Disney World in May of 2004!

  • Does any one remember the singing food that was here as well back in the day?

  • The ride was Kitchen Kabaret and it was one of my favorites. I am trying to locate more footage from the ride so I can make a DVD of it. - - RU

  • that was the best!!

  • They changed it since this video.

There are no boat "captians" any more it is ALL recorded now.

  • i was here with my papa and mama

  • kinda random but if anyone knows the 1994 elipse at 3:00 on may 10th born same time and year and day as that elipse

  • I've always enjoyed this ride. Fascinated me as a kid, and scared me a bit too. Stupid gators. -.- I never could understand why no one else enjoyed this ride. Guess I'm just an oddity.

    Wonderful video of it!

  • gators r not stupid i have a pet gator in the philippines

  • could the tour guide be more boring? could the RIDE be more boring? i know what not to ride when i go there in july.

  • Hey isn't this the same thing that they have in disneyworld with the rotating restaurent please tell me cause im trying to figure out what the name of that one restaurent is

  • IN 2006 it was called the Garden Grill Resturant.

  • KK, thank you, btw isn't it like expensive to eat there though (cause in the 90s it was cheaper) now i think its like 20 dolla a person

  • I believe it was called the Four Seasons. I recall an awesomely hideous mural in there.

  • They should've kept it the old name cause the new one sounds kind of like vegetarian food

  • My favorite part when I was a kid was the fish farm. The eels in those glass tubes looked cool.

  • Hey, I work there!!! I know the guy who was talking about the ride. It's different now though, this winter we went fully automated, so there are no more boat captains.

  • Great stuff. Brings back memories. How old are these videos?

  • I never got to see Food Rox, was that any good?

  • wow, there was one scene, in the beginning with the numerous t.v. screens showing black and white movies of farms, I remembered that, but was never sure where it was..thank you---I have to admit I don't remember the plant part, except for some tunnels--must've taken a nap then

  • yup, cool ride alright

  • yo le llamaba las yucas y las malangas!buenos recuerdos!

  • Wow.. I remember this.. the hydroponics section was most amazing.. plants with exposed roots on a conveyer belt.. amazing stuff. And wasn't that a hidden Mickey caught on video? ! ;)
