  • Rope twist all day everyday <3

  • How long does it take you to do the rope twists on your entire head?

    ?like 45 minutes???

    Kris T.

  • Nice detailed Video!

  • talk way too much but thanks for showing the difference because i thought it was the same too :-)

  • wooow! you're right! I like the rope twists better! :) I've never knew about this styling technique! Thank you so much for sharing this video!

  • @BlackOnyx77 have u ever considered locs? I think u will look amazing wit dreads!

  • thank uuuu sooooo much ive been looking fornthis method for sooo long

  • Excellent tutorial!!!! Lotsof love!!!

  • thank uuuu!!i know how to do all kind of braids but i have hard time with rope twists fro some reasons. i just saw ur video today t and i tried iAgain on my hair..and itttt woorrks! lol

  • Hello, I have a quick question. The front of my afro is really dry, but the back is really soft and moisturized. I don't get it . like I DC every week and use shea butter to do braid outs,I just don't get it?? any suggestions

  • very informative, and so helpful! Thank you very much for taking the time to make this video.

  • How long did that take?

  • How long did this take?

  • @cottoncandychic I'm guessing an hour 1/2 to 2 hours at least. That's how long it takes me when I do small box braids.

  • @makisov I did this style on my daughter and niece last week ( 6 &5 years old). Everyone loved it.

  • I love your videos!! i just wanted to let you know that you say the word "Like" many times.

  • Wow, I've always heard "rope twists" referred to as Senegalese twists. But yea, I love to senegalese twist when I do small sized twists they look so much neater and last longer. Looks great with braiding extensions as well. One of my signature styles.

  • wow i did not realize that ppl did 2-strand twists different from rope twists...i use the rope twist method bc it felt natural & also bc im transitioning so if i don't "rope twist" then my relaxed ends wouldn't hold w/o a rubberband. o & how u showed that 2-strand twists are puffier and rope twists aren't, i thought that twists with weave (which i guess are actually called kinky twists) were the only ones that weren't puffy & twists on natural hair were always puffy

    thx 4 showing the difference

  • Does anyone know y in da hell it cost $175 to ship from the US to Canada from this chick's website? I'm sooo cheesed right now!

  • @duffcola0622 LMFAO!!!!! =-)

  • I was wondering why people always called twists different names. For rope twists, I call the twisting method 'roll & twist' because you are rolling the separate strands of hair (whether simultaneously or with just one hand) before you twist them around each other.

The rolling can be done using one hand for those unable to do both at the same time. Just remember to roll every time you switch to that hand.

Thanks again for the claification. This type of video helps make style names...

  • @Lovingthenaturalme ...consistent throughout the hair community. Being consistent with hair style names will help us as we share proper hair care techniques throughout the black community.

  • The one u call rope twist ur basically doing senagalese in ur natural hair instead of synthetic hair. I do that I never twist hair like the old style. Basically u twist the two strands as u twist the strands together. So basically ur rope twist is called senagalese twists.

  • you SO sound like Nikki Minaj

  • didn't realize there was a difference thanks for the clarification. i will try this method for my next mini twist style :)

  • No wonder my twists didn't look the same as everyone else. Not that I am complaining. Thanks for the twist while you twist example.

  • those are called Senegalese twists

  • Thank you so much for clarifying that!!! I have been rope twisting my hair as my natural technique without even knowing that there was a difference and no one could figure out why my two strand twists looked so much better than theirs LOL! Now I know!

  • Wow! This turned out beautiful! Now, one question I probably missed the answer to is - how long did that take you to do?

  • I love this song!

  • lol you always get the dates wrong in your videos, its so funny how your always WAYYYYYY off

  • wow, I did not know there was a difference until you showed it. I've been doing rope twists as a protective style. My issue is trying to keep my TWA twisted and professional for work. I am also trying not to wash my hair everyday. Any advice or videos to check to stop washing hair everyday?

  • When you are twisting for the rope twists, are you twisting both of the pieces that you are twisting? If that made any sense.

  • Thanks for explaining the difference between rope twists and two-stand twists. I had nooo idea. My eyes have been opened.

  • i love them... but yeah, the look better in the pics. its funny cause i half you the rope method. i twist one strand not both... half way there huh... lol thanks for the vid

  • I never noticed that there was a differnce. I just always did the rope twists. Nice to know. Thanks....

  • So cute!!! I'm gonna have to try that rope method when I do my next twists.

  • Thanks for the tutorial, I shall try this this evening...with my alikay shea yogurt!

  • i love the style!! looks great on you. umm my question is does ur husband mind you going to bed with that satin cap and durag on ur head?

  • OMG i can't get mine right:( I am challened, lol.

  • thank you so so so so much for clarifying this!

  • i always do two-strand, i had no idea about rope twist, if it minimizes shrinkage looks like i'm doing that from now on

  • Thanks for this vid

  • love the pic of you and hubby at the beginning of vid!

  • wow you hairs kinda bangin!!!!!!!! ;) its seriously grown alot oh and I like the twists its a nice style if you want to leave your hair alone for a while

  • I never knew that there was a difference. I always thought that the reason Senegalese Twists look different from Kinky Twists is because the textures of the extensions were different. But now I know its because the way you twist the hair. Thanks:)

  • Thanks for clarifying the difference in the twists. I am fairly new at having natural hair and I only know how to do the 2strand twists and I'd been wondering why mine didn't look like some of the other twists I'm seen. Thanks to you .... now I know!

Keep up the good work! You are Fabulous!

  • I wrap my twists like I would if my hair were straight.

  • Lol forgetting the date is like ur signature in your vids. Your still awesome though! : )

  • i always thought "rope twist" was two strand twist...thats how i always did my twist....i thought ur "two strand twist" was the reg twist and not two strand twist....

  • Ms. Lady what's up with you and the date?!?!? Lolol...cracks me up everytime!

  • Your hair is very similar to mine. It looks short just because it is so fine/thin, but when I do styles like this people are always shocked that my hair is long.

  • Your hair is REALLY beautiful!!!

  • love you hair...Im gonna try the rope twist...thanks for sharing!

  • didnt even realize there was a difference...they are cute

  • i like this! can't wait to have the length! so much better than regular twists

  • damn yo ass is fine, id be tappin it every sarurday mon'

  • "rope twists" are another name for "senegalese twists". i love that kind of twist. i do them on my sisters all the time.

  • nice protective style x

  • Your hair looks so cute!!!

  • Ooooooohhhhhhh lol. Now I get it. I once tried to do kinky twists in my hair using what I now know as simply 2 strand twist, and I kept wondering why my hair wasn't coming out right and looking like kinky twists. Welp, I've learned to late because now I'm locking lol. Oh well, if I do somebodies kinky twists or Senegalese twists, I know how to do it the proper way. Thanks gurl!

  • Hi, Rochelle,

Thanks 4 explaining the dif in the rope and 2-strand twist. I saw someone do a vid on it but they used the rope methods so their hair would hold. Guess same dif. I'm gonna try the rope method 2night. Only dif I will be adding some synthetic hair. Thanks 4 sharing. Your hair looks nice.

  • Those look really cute on you.

  • I think I will try this on my daughter!

  • Those twists are so pretty! I usually two-strand twist my hair, but I think I will try this method on my next wash day. Thanks for the tutorial! :)

  • i REALLY WANT TO THANK YOU FOR NOT TAKING DOWN YOUR OLD VIDEOS. There are a lot of people that open shops and lose themselves but you did not thanks so much. This lets me know that you care about your subbies.. Thanks again

  • That twists came out really nice!

  • I find that what you call 'rope twists' helps to prevent dreadlocing!

  • heyy i wondering how long your hair usually stays moisturized after you put product in it i mean even when its not in a protective style because my hair doesnt seem to stay moisturized for very long

  • Oh my I do the same bedtime technique..to keep my twist looking nice...I use my tie down bonnet..then just a reg.bonnet..lol

  • yeah thats the method i use too it holds so much better!

  • cute

  • i may try to do these in a few weeks...too cute.

  • i tried that before and when it was time to remove them my hair was sooooo tangle (that hairdo always cause me to relax my hair because i was crying with frustration) the hair style lasted but i'm to scared to do it again

  • @butterfli78 dont do it on wet hair...dry hair is easy to take out..wen i remove my twists they just unravel easily...also keep ur hair moisturized

  • @BlackOnyx77 @butterfli78 In fact a little too easily! My hair is constantly unraveling at the ends, water, gel, shea butter- NOTHING gets them to stay in for long. But I still prefer this method over the standard two-strand twist. It stays neater for longer- if its stays in that is.

  • Beautifuls twists Rochelle. I am definitely going to have to try this method...

  • Rochelle..i love your vids..but pleassssse get a new video camera..all your vids are yellow......

  • @tashnik the amera im using is brand new only 1 week old..its not video yellow my guest bathroom is yellow..lol...and the light bulb sucks..thats why i usuallyd o in my bathroom

  • @BlackOnyx77 look to see if your camera has a white balance feature. it color corrects your camera before you take a photo or shoot a vid.

  • @BlackOnyx77 what you need to do is white balance on your camera.. im not sure what kind of camera you have.. but u should look how to white balance on ur camera.. it will make everything that is suppose to be white.. appear white .. good luck.. Great vids

  • Very nice picture of you and your husband at the beginning of the video.

  • i just recently took down my last set of twist.. but, with out really knowing I had both styles in my hair... it was mostly rope twist and i did them on wet hair. keep them in for 2 weeks and took them out.. the twist out was Awesome...anywho.. you hair looks great and it's great to have ya bck..Blessings♥

  • that demonstration in the beginning was AMAZING. This is why I am subscribed to your channel. love what you do girlie.

  • Your hair looks great.....I'll give the rope twist a try maybe they won't shrink as much as my regular twist .

  • Thanks for the video and explaining the difference! I will be trying the ROPE TWIST! Stay beautiful - thanks again!!

  • U look gorgeous with these twist!!!!

  • Thank you so much for doing this vid. I usually hate doing twists because they automatically shrink up. I will definitely be doing this style. The finish results are so beautiful. Thanks again girl, I can't wait

  • My cousin twisted my hair in the rope twist/sistah twist fashion and I didn't hold in my natural hair...what up with that? It was pretty and tight though. great video.

  • I automatically do the rope twists everytime I twist, and then it's difficult to seperate when I do a twist out. So it's more challenging for me to do the two strand twists.

  • CUTE!!! :-)

  • I've missed u glad to see ur not MIA anymore but i know there's life outside of utube. Also i wanted to ask what's ur nationality if u don't mind.

  • That's crazy, I learned rope twisting from my sister's in law whom are all Jamaican...had no idea about rope twisting until they did it on my hair. I also did a quick tut on rope twisting because I was just in awe of how neat they came out. Great vid ma'am!

  • I love the rope twist for when i do my twist out!! The twist looks neater, just like you mentioned!!! my hiar is short so rope twist makes my hair not look like a wild woman lol and looks like a actauly style!! Love the vids looking fwd to more! =)

  • Your hair - and makeup by the way - looks beautiful. Quick question: Which do u think one wud experience the least amount of knots with on the take down - the rope or the 2 strand twists?

  • You look very lovely, BlackOnnyxx.

  • OHHH, so that's why my twists don't turn out like I want them?! Thanks for the info!

  • Did your hair break off some?

  • I'm gonna have to try the rope twists. Very pretty.

  • you have beautiful hair, you have come a really long way and you have achieved alot especially with your hair...well done and we thank God.

  • Thanks for clarifying the difference. Excellent demonstration. I am about to do some this week.

  • rope twist betta

  • I've really come to like the intro music! I thought it was a song already on the radio or something, so Kudus to ur hubby! When it comes on I wanna start dancing, so it's hot! Great tutorials and such!!

  • That's a nice protective style for the winter :) Really anytime. I'll have to try this rope technique with my next twist out.

  • God bless you for all the information you share with us!

  • Gotta say girl your hair has come a long way and i must say it looks beautiful and i love your creativity - Blessed love (( ' _~ ))

  • thanks girl. i luv the rope better and it worked for my hair.. on my way to order the product from your website.

  • Thanks for taking the time to make this tutorial :) The results are really pretty :) I'm inspired to try the roll technique again thanks :)

  • Awesome!!!

  • Love the rope twists - tried it and I can't get down the similtaneous wind and twist of the strands. Oh well, practice practice, practice.... :)

  • @curliefro hey if you are unable to do the wind and the twist simultaneously then you can take a piece of hair separate it and tightly coil each piece and then twist them together to achieve the rope twist :)

  • @elleemusic Thanks for that suggestion - I will try that :)

  • Your hair looks great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Those look soooo good!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow... all this time I thought I was 2 strand twisting I was actually rope twisting... thanks for the info~

  • @Kosaiya me too. No wonder my "2 strand twists" never look like the other people online.

  • Yes, I have a Mozambican girl I used to live with who showed me that. It's pretty awesome for transitioners if you can get the technique down because it stays in place. No rubberbands necessary!! If I could do it, I'd do it ALL the time!

    They are def. totally different.

  • this is the way I twist, i didn't know there was another name. Very cute!!

  • Thanks for the differentiation between the two. That was helpful!

  • yeah there's definitely a difference!

  • the rope twist is nice and I can tell the difference...I just tried it on my nieces hair. Sometimes her twist don't hold the form I want so what I do with her hair is do two seperate twists then twist the two together and it makes the twist look tight. I like the rope twist though

  • Very cute!!

  • oooooo I'm going to try rope twists!! I always learn something new from you girly!! Much Love & Blessings!!

  • It seems basically like doing senagalese twist right?

  • @emoja30 yea that how people do senagalese, but sengalese and kinky twists hair are different so they dont come out the same.

  • @emoja30 yes exactly the same seneglese and rope are same technique

  • @BlackOnyx77 thanks so much for this video.I have had people ask me about my twists and why they look different at times.. I didn't realize that i was actually using the seneglese/rope technique sometimes and then 2-strand other times. KNow I can explain to other people why they look different

  • I must that twists with your own hair is very pretty, I love to rock my own hair in twists also. Great Video. Natural hair is beautiful isnt it. ONE LOVE

  • omg if i knew about rope twists before...i would have been using those before! they will last so much better

  • cute. that's how i do my tst. i guess i was calling it the wrong thing. lol

  • Girl I love it, very pretty, and I'm definitely feeling the music!!!!!

  • i love the way it turned out you look cute!

  • Love the method on the rope twist. Glad to see you doing soo well in your ventures as a businesswoman. STAY BLESSED!!

  • Hi BlackOnyx,

Can I do Rope Twists on relaxed hair, if I want to give my hair a break?

  • Thxs for sharing the difference in the techniques. I really love the rope twist, can't wait until I am fully transitioned!!

  • I'm so glad you showed us the difference. That is interesting I've never realized that and I have never tried rope twist. Happy to see you back we missed you a bunch.

  • girlllll, you and these dates, lol. Always cracks me up
