@silenceimurderyou hey i dont blame you for saying that but he has a syndrome called Aspergers syndrome and that is why he talks like that,it is a form of autism but not exactly autism,i have the syndrome but it does not do this to me,my part of the syndrome is not being able to look people in the eye or it makes me feeel like im going to through up,the syndrome has a lot of diffrent effects on people,if your not sure what im trying to say look it up on youtube or google,or watch his vid.
i have a problem with my s2 is too. all i can see in the image was white. but in the video mode theres no problem. what could possibly the problem with my cam?
Skyman did you get the PM i sent you with the link to the forum/help page? some people have did a number of things to get thier cameras working again with the very same problem you have with yours. Try taking the battery out and back again ,try tapping the lens while working the button, blow air (compressed ) in the crack around the lens houseing. one guy said he Pushed his lens a little and got it to work again. It's worth a try.
Unless you can find some small repair shop that can fix it for, say, $50, you can give it to a local scrap metal dealer and get maybe $50 just for the metal and parts. I just looked on line, new Canon cameras, similar to yours, cost between $250 to $600.
I bought a Panasonic ZS3...it was $280 and it's a good still camera (high quality and 12x optical zoom!) and an outstanding HD video camera as well! You can't take photos while filming, but having another still camera will solve that...which you must have since you filmed this one! =D
Thats Canon for you. They manufacture the GREATEST imaging devices that you can buy...but their customer support and repair services are a complete joke. Regardless of how many problems I've had with that company, I still stand by Canon as the imaging greats...but they have a LOT of room for improvement.
If you ever get the money, do what I did and grab a Nikon SLR!! I just picked up a used D80 for $620, you should SEE these photos!
That's really unfortunate. Two summers ago (yes, when on holiday!), my Samsung packed in. When I got home I took it back to the shop where I had bought it. It was still under warranty. When the shop returned it I found that it was even better than when new. They had added all sorts of new software and the screen quality was 100% better. I wish you luck!

So just because the zoom broke the rest of the camera stopped working. You'd think there would be an option to override that error and keep using it.

shove it in, its the only thing you can do
