I had at one time 3 Newfs in a small bungalow of under 100 sq feet. We minimized furniture, learned to step over dogs and they learned to bow and "fold" if they wanted to turn around in a tight spot! No Problems!

I am thinking of getting a Newfie and I live in an apartment with a big terrace, but I also have a large garden. But since my other animals (cats) prefer to stay inside I was worried the doggie would have liked it too and felt a little confined... even if only for short times.

No, we are not in an apartment.... This is a house. I have lived however with Leo and Maggie for several years in flats in San Francisco...
