  • apparently these are illegal in canada because the flipper isnt integral to the blade.

    oh well...

  • I just ordered mine but they no longer carry the non-serrated blades of which I'd rather have but am happy to be getting one to match my M&P pistols. Great video !

  • Reminds me of a giant Kershaw Leek, but less slick...

  • That seems like a switchblade/assisted combo

  • @SoapMactavish90 Only assisted.

  • Very good review im picking up this soon

  • Are these legal to carry around like regular pocket knives ?

  • @coldfuzionzxx Yes in all 50 states.

  • why does nuthinfancy never review S&W knives?

  • @robertson109 I don't know... ask him.

  • @robertson109

    They are mostly tacticool knives.

  • @slinky971 yes

  • I bought this knife on eBay for less than $35. After carrying and using it almost daily for over a year the blade is still very sharp. A few months back it started having trouble opening, and it turned out that some of the bolts had started to come loose. Messed with it for about 2 minutes and got it back to normal functioning condition. This is by far my favorite folding knife. Great quality, workmanship, function and style. Thanks for the review!

  • @holterscolter Thank you for the kind comment. I am glad that the knife is working out for you!!

  • I got the same knife but with the black blade. Its badass.

  • tAnto..Not tOnto...A..A. It isn't Tonto the Lone Ranger's buddy.

  • Both pronunciation are correct. It depends on where you are from to designate how you say it. If you prefer it one way great... I will say it the way I want.

  • probably very stupid question but how do the magic S&W knives hold up? they got great quality?

  • Out of all the smith and wesson knives that I have the M&P has held up the best. I haven't had any trouble with mine.

  • Gotta love that smits and wesson

  • where did you get it? and how much?

  • I got it as a gift but you can find it for around $50.

  • I just bought one for $37 on Amazon.

  • i just held that knife and one of the other ones just different color. they are a good knife but they are to small for my hand.( i am 5'9") i wish they made one bigger it was at a gun and knife show and i wound up buying the SOG FLASH ll.

  • They're Liberals. Nothing they do makes any sense.

  • This seems real nice.. i think i'll get one

  • Yes I would but not in public or purposely flashing my knife to other people. If we are home or somewhere where it will not draw attention it is fine.

  • You have a very good point. But sadly the laws that govern knife owners are stupid and politicians cannot see through the irony of a fixed blade being just as quickly deployed as an automatic.

  • what do you use your knife for . is it just for show or do you cut suff with it. and is that a tanto blade.

  • At least for me my knife is a tool. I use it every day for cutting tasks around the house and also at work. The S&W Magic is a tanto blade. I never use a knife for show. A knife for show has no purpose other than to alert people that you have a weapon. It is just like carrying a concealed gun(if you have a permit to do so) you do not want to expose your knife unless it is being used. I would only show my knife purposely if I was threatened or trying to defend myself. Hope this helped.

  • how does it hold an edge?

  • It has done great with holding an edge for me but I havent used it very hard.

  • is it a sturdy lockup? And what is your thoughts on this knife?

  • I have a lot of S&W knives but I am not a huge fan of the company. I got a lot of them as gifts but I was happily surprised with how well the S&W Magic has done. Most of S&W knives are poor quality but the Magic has a solid lock up and great deployment. I have used the knife as an EDC and it did great.

  • I'm not really too knowledgeable with knives, but I handled one of these today at a local retailer, and EVERYTHING about the knife is sturdy. I engaged the lock, and couldn't force the button or pull the blade out with all my strength. The construction is extremely solid... no looseness in the blade joint like you get in cheaper knives.

Definitely my next purchase, followed by a Spyderco Endura 4.

  • i just bought me one friday i cant wait to get it

  • Thanks for the review. I ordered one a couple of days ago.

  • Awesome! Hope you enjoy it.

  • whats the flipper made out of?

  • The part of the flipper that you actually touch is made out of plastic. The internal parts that contact the tang of the blade to deploy it are metal.

  • Do you think this is a good carry knife? I just ordered it and I'm planning to carry it as a back up weapon should my .380 pistol malfunction. You seem to have alot of experience with knives, what online sites would you reccomend?

  • Should be fine to carry. I'M ordering one tonight to carry with my S&W M&P. You should always have a knife as a backup if you carry a gun. One if you run out of ammo you can still defend your self. Two If someone is trying to take your gun away you can keep one hand on the gun. Then use the knife to get them off.

  • Are those legal for civilians in Iowa? Is that classified as an automatic knife/switch blade?

  • This is considered an assisted opening knife and is legal in all 50 states. A knife is considered an automatic/switch blade when a button and or lever is pressed on the handle of the knife or though centrifugal force the blade is deployed. Knifes that use a thumb stud or flipper on the blade of the knife is not considered automatic even though it uses a spring or torsion bar to be deployed. In short, as long as you dont press something on the handle to deploy the blade it is legal.

  • But doesn't that "flipper" count as a button because it isn't a part of the blade? Sure looks like any switchblade video that I have seen.. but I just bought one of these anyways heh.

  • The flipper is part of the blade. When you press the flipper it contacts the rear of the blade called the tang. The flipper acts as an extension of the tang when deploying the blade. It looks like and is just as fast as a switchblade but is not considered one. It is a loophole and a very small one. There have been several court cases trying to outlaw assisted opening knives so keep an eye out.
