I have 2 x ati radeon 4870. but i want 2 x ati radeon 4870x2. I have 750 watts of power. Can is just remove the 4870 and replace it with 4870x2 Or do i need some extra things in order to install it properly? HELP PLEASE :(
So how come the card only runs the fan at 27% out of the box? I take it the more it needs to cool down the faster the fan gets unless you change the % yourself?
OMG theat is so HOT shit , i got a GTX 280 and @40% speed fan is 56 C , this is 71 C fuck . In games @ 80 % fan i got @ 85c with OC @ 660 / 2300 mhz and is not loud . ATi suck bad agin.
are you kidding me? heat is a small price to pay for how well this card does it kicks the 280's ass!! it kicks the 280's in sli! and this is a single card
well not really. This card acts as 2 cards so he would need to have dual cards enabled to take effect for max framerate in cod4. Same as the 9800GX2 is also a dual gpu card. So basically you are the retard. ^_^
Catalyst is different from ingame settings. You still have to do some setting changes in some games that support multi-gpu solutions. Same as the 9800GX2 is default SLI in the gx2 drivers. Thats why when you put 2 9800gx2's in your system you get quad SLI since you have 4 gpus running.
yes I know what you mean but DUAL video cards is not needed with 4870 x2, its 2 processors not 2 cards its not the same thing, so what is he gonna do when he gets second 4870 x2? "Enable quad video cards"? come on man
your so stupid the 4870 x2 has a built in internal crossfire already installed so that it acts as one card but if you playing cod 4 you should keep on the dual card setting just in case
having 2 of these cards you put on crossfire because the internal crossfire is only for the card its on
You should be able to easily run COD4 on the highest graphics with the 4870 X2, its the fastest graphics card out now. The only reason you shouldn't be able to run COD4 on highest graphics would be if the other computer parts are lacking in performance. If you are going to buy such an expensive card you should be able to upgrade other stuff, or already have other good parts. If you don't mind, would you post your full computer stats. Sorry if i seem overly harsh, and thanks for posting.
I wanna up date my pc and the graphics card is the bagging...MB: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 RAM: DDR2 667mhz 3x1gb Kingston PCU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400 PSU: Arctic 700w
Yea, It would be good to upgrade. Id stay with your cpu because it is 3.2ghz and dual core, dont change it because thats fine. If i were you i would get vista 64 bit and get more ram, atleast 4gb at 800mhz or more( im buying 1066mhz presonally) and get a motherboard that will allow higher speed ram, and try to get one with a PCIe x16 2.o slot, that will improve graphics performance. BTW 32bit only accepts 3gb , 3.5gb including graphics. 64 bit vista is better than 64 bit xp btw.
I think i will change my cpu to Phenom X4 Quad Core 9950 2.6GHz and my MB to GA-MA790FX-DQ6 790FX Socket AM2 and ram to GeIL 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-8500C5 1066MHz :)
I like the ram and motherboard, but almost no games actually use all 4 cores of a quad, lots use 2, some just 1(like old games). The dual core you have is 3.2GHz whick is faster than 2.6GHz, only reason quads r pushed is because they are the newest thing out. the core clock of the process is more important than having 4 cores over 2. the 4 cores is good for multi tasking and all, but you want the dual core with high clock speed. The only game i know of that actually uses all 4 cores is Crysis.
MORE-The 64 bit has no ram limit, so you can get more and use all of your video ram. for the time being i would only use 2gb of your ram and make sure they are in dual channel( same color on mobo ram slots, you might neeto activate it in bios also.) by doing this you will actually perform better because your vid card will be able to use more of its memory. BTW your motherboard supports 800mhz if you wanna keep it, but you might want to get a newer chip set. Reply what u think about what is said.
its not like anyone will be running 128gb, so it doesnt matter, still its prty much no limit, even the skulltrail motherboard hav a limit of 16gb, as far as i know 16gb is the highest usable by motherboards that are out now.
There are plenty of companies who run 128gb in servers and so on. The reason motherboards at the moment have a limit on how much they can use is that consumer RAM sticks are only available in maximum 4gb per stick. Support beyond that is most likely possible.

By the way I currently have the HD 4870..waiting for the HD 4870X2 :D
I have some vid's posted showing the FPS..Click on "Watch in High Quality" to be able to view the FPS..If you're interested..
DrazioBraskazi 3 years ago
Hey there, ninimaxseba! Will you please tell me how much Frames Per Second you are getting on COD4? Or make a video showing your FPS?
Type this in the console
/cg_drawFPS 1
Than type this
/com_maxfps 0
The FPS will display in the top right corner.
If the console isn't working go to "Options" than click on "Game Options" and set "Enable Console" to "Yes" ...Console is the Tilde key ~
Just if you didn't know..Thanks!
