@WhoopMQ Both of your reasons are correct. I feel he admires his uncle, who is actually suffering from Schizophrenia. And one of the many symptoms of Schizophrenia, called "Word salad", or "Incoherent speech" - is at play here. He seems to be "acting" Schizophrenic. His conversations are messy, bouncy, and rather spontaneous. Typical behavior of a Schizophrenic.

@iamweapon Yeah, I've noticed that as well, I think he says things of that nature that seem too crazy to be true in order to encourage the people who can tell he's lying to find out about the subject matter themselves. He probably just really enjoys fucking with interviewers as well, I know I would.

@EddieR541 when you "represent the avant-garde" as that tool letterman said, it comes with the territory, i certainly would if I was him. its a nice change from regular celebrities who just wanna talk about themselves and how great they are. harmony hides in trees, much cooler.

@iamweapon I agree wholeheartedly, although I think Letterman's whole playing dumb in regards to the avant-garde thing might be deliberate and not just stemming from his lack of knowledge. I feel like he has to keep the kind of ideas that more intelligent artists have only on the surface of the conversation, in order to appease the large fraction of the population that only want to hear jokes. This is why I enjoy talk shows more along the lines of Dick Cavett's or Charlie Rose's.

@EddieR541 Oh yeah, that's obvious for sure, but the fact that he just goes along with that mentality because his producers want him to is why i call him a tool. Seems just like a sell-out attitude. But I agree, im a big tom snyder fan he had no audience, it was just him and the person he was interviewing and he didnt need to appeal to the peanut gallery. One thing I like about Conan O'Brian is that he doesn't place any ridicule on his guests, he puts it on himself, and still keeps it funny.
