  • I have nothing but GM-products (Chevy Lumina,Venture,1980 K15,1997 K1500 Diesel )and I would not drive ANYTHING else!

  • Loved the little outro guitar riff on this ad! Chevrolet always advertised during Miami Vice...

  • 2011- Listen to the heartbeat of KOREA!

  • The only problem is most American products aren't designed here or assembled here. A lot of what the Big 3 offer aremade in Mexico or Canada. Ironically, it's the Japanese and Koreans that are building more cars in America than American based automakers are... The 80's was the end of real American car building. Once we started shipping jobs out of the USA, we cut our own throats. The new Buicks are all designed by Daewoo. The Camaro engineered by Holden of Australia, and build in Canada

  • 3.1L V6 the 2nd generation engine from like 1990-1993 were the most INDESTRUCTIBLE motors I have ever seen. I cant say so much about the 3rd generation "3100 SFI" that Corsicas came with from 1994-1996 because of the intake manifold leaks, but those motors otherwise still were very capable of taking a beating. But those 2nd gen 3.1's those just dont die. nether does the Corsica or Beretta. Truely great American made cars.

  • Your absolutely right TheNostalgiaSpot. They can't slam the competition because their products have been substandard for the past 30 years. It's like now, yeah their cars look great but it's still the same crappy engines and ancient technology that they have had for years.

  • i loved these cars, actually both my cars are still from this era. i have a 89 camaro and a 91 cavalier and the both are excellent vehicles. i love old school chevy. the corisica(had 2 of them), beretta, lumina, caprice, cavalier. they were damn good cars. simple and easy to maintain. GM has some nice cars now, but they are damn complex(all are). i like things simple

  • Same way ma grandma is, She would rather have an older car. ( 92 ford aeroshit van)

  • 0:51 looks like a buick

  • I'll be willing to bet $100 if GM aired these ads again, only with their new cars, they'll get at least more LOOKS. I mean, Imagine you're sitting at your computer, TV in the back ground, and you hear a catchy jingle on the TV, you're gonna look to see whats what.

  • THey can't do any worse than those dumb, arrogant ass Howie Long commercials. I mean, a zombie corporation being kept alive with taxpayer money doesn't have much room to be arrogant....

  • @TheNostalgiaSpot or the damn, may the best car win shit! I mean really, well, atleast their fortunes are rising!

  • @TheNostalgiaSpot now a body

  • ha back in 1987 Chevy was the heartbeat of america now there the heartattack of america!!!!!! may the best car win my ass why don't they bring back this old but great slogan instead of the crap they have today

  • Chevy's advertisements were better back then.

Then, they weren't always trying to compare they're shit to Toyota and Honda, they just cared about their own cars. Also, back then, their cars were better selling.

  • Chevy all the way

  • i wanna try driveing theough the water like that with my car it looks fun

  • The Beretta was such a beautiful car, especially the GTU and Z26 models.

  • The Beretta was a nice car aside from the base models

  • It was a nice little coupe

  • my mother had one in red

  • ya its got a 3.1 so far so good it is a kick ass engine ive dusted plenty of rice grinders with it

  • i have a 95 chevy corsica with 204 thousand miles and still goin strong cant even hear the motor run and its so fun to drive wouldnt trade it in for a brand new japanese pile of crap and i still get almost 30 mpg hwy with a v6

  • i bet you have one of those great little 3.1L engines, don't you? the 3.1 is a kick ass little engine. the only issue they ever had was an intake gasket failure, which isnt that common. they are a reliable engine

  • totally agree, 3.1=Bullitproof

    I love corsica and beretta

  • so patriotic. I still like the germans too

  • I have owned numerous Beretta's and Cavalier's. I now own a new Cobalt and it is not half the car that any of those Beretta or Cavalier's were. I am actually trying to find a Beretta to restore. No wonder GM are broke.

  • I have a 89 Beretta that doesnt start. I think the alternator died. But everything else is in wicked shape, no rust. new stereo.

  • what the hell happened?? GM was at the top of the game when these commerials were released. i still have to "heartbeat" era cars. a 1989 camaro and a 1991 cavalier. they are awesome cars, run forever. both are southern, no rust.i had 2 corsicas and they werent bad either. i hope GM can come back and re-ignite the passion for their cars. i hate imports and im highly pissed at what has happened to a great company. they produced every car i have owned so far.

  • If you need to be pissed at someone, you need to be pissed at Roger B. Smith and Rick Wagoner. The reason why GM is where they are is because of greed and chronic mismanagement.

  • Management and the unions got greedy. Also, our fellow Americans are idiots and believe the media that American cars are crap and would soon sell out our country as sell their mothers.

  • Like I said before, you can't fault the customer for wanting the best product for their hard earned money. Under both Smith's and Wagoner's leadership, it was all about cutting corners to get the biggest profit. That made for quite a few piss poor products to drive customers away. Yes, GM has some excellent products today, but it doesn't matter because GM has driven away almost all of their customers with piss poor products in the past!

  • i really dont believe that they have piss poor products. i have owned many GM cars and trucks, all older models.they have all been good cars and trucks. i only had one transmission failure, it cost $900 to rebuild trans. the truck had 140K+ on it, which was acceptable. i have never had an engine fail, but i also maintain them. i had a 91 corsica that had 160K on it when i sold it. it was rotted funny thing was that 2 years later i still saw that car around town. i now have a 91 cavy, its great.

  • I don't think they were piss products either. Granted the guy who designed GM dash boards in the 90's is thanfully gone, but give me a mid size sedan with a V6 for less then a 4 banger Toyota.

  • I think that it is really great that you had good experiences with GM products. Unfortunately, it seems as if GM has more dissatisfied customers that are now loyal Toyota customers than satisfied ones that keep coming back to GM. Thus this "Perception gap" Bob Lutz keeps talking about.

  • I own two Chryslers now and even they have been great, I really feel a lot of times it is how you take care of your car. I think these days most cars are very well made foreign or domestic-like you said, Detroit has to sell their increased quality.

  • @TheNostalgiaSpot I'll think about all the pro-Toyota comments next time my Prius or Camry goes speeding out of control, crashing into a brick wall at 90 mph or worse.

  • GM is improving quality fast. From one model to the next vast improvements have been made to the cars and trucks America loves. Or so they should if they can call themselves one.

  • Are you talking about the Tundra, the truck that's "changing it all"? With splitting camshafts, tailgates that can't hold shit, etc. I am sure Toyota brass wishes they could just forget about that money pit down in San Antonio.

  • You know what's funny? Most of the cars I see that are over 10 years old, that I see everyday, are GM products!!! While were at it, cancel your subscription to Consumer Reports!!!!!

  • Support GM all the way! I think the same thing.

  • Sorry! The Corsica was released in 1987, 1989 was the last year of the base Corsica. Nevermind, disregard my last comment!

  • Well, the Corsica came out for the 1989 model year, so I think this commercial is later than 1987. Wouldn't be surprised if it is from 1988 or 1989 though.

  • Yeah, my Heartbeat too! But for me are Chevy Trucks heartbeat mainly. Thanks. Very nice song and great cars :-)

  • Yo, man... I love this commercial. I love the heartbeat. This is the shit right here, man!

  • i had a beretta that rattled like hell..i used to tell people no thats not the motor knocking, thats the heartbeat of america

  • Ok, I love Chevy but that was just damn funny.

  • LOL

  • Cool commerical! Nice of you to show it again..I go way back to when Dinah Shore was the voice of Chevrolet..around 1953..See the U.S.A. in your Chevrolet! LOL! Jack

  • great vid

    cheers

    Natasha

    xxxxx

  • no caprices?

  • Thanks for these commercials. I have always loved the theme. I would love to see more if you have any. Or clorox 2. I loved the jingle "Mama's got the magic of Clorox 2". Thanks a bunch again of you have any of these.

  • I have a few more Beretta/Corsica commercials. I don't have any Clorox 2 commercials though.

  • Comment removed

  • Concurred. They were OK, but not the best. I never saw the Corsica as anything more than a Ford Taurus imitator. Same goes for its two-years away bigger brother, the Lumina. I do like the cars tough for their Nostalgia value.
