That's why i always take my 'one to computer repair shops not acer support.

My friend's one had a broken power port, they replaced it and weeks later the power brick was fried, so we had to swap batteries...

i had to do the same thing when my dell laptop fan went bad. most pc companys have instructions on how to replace this kind of stuff on their website. be carefull, each pc is different so i recommend checking with your pc maker first. you have to search deep in their site to find it, but once you do, its step by step.

not to mension the payoff of being couple of years ahead of the main market if im correct there arent many production netbooks with touch screen capability yet , btw there is a program that mimics rick click on mouse hold made for touch screens if youre interested. google softrightclick

That's cool, I got the exact same notebook (maybe different model or whatever, mine's the 120gb one, but still a 9" one ) Anyone have dealings with Conics? They got kits for a little over $100, but I've never heard of them.

@Esternamornezz I have actually since taken out the touch screen.

Its a resistive rather then capacitative touch screen, which means it reacts to physical pressure rather then the flux of the static field in the screen that happens when your finger touches it (like most good smartphones or tablets). The side effect of this is that pressure to the side of the frame screws up the accuracy of the panel. It also causes a noticeable haze (the glass is not 100% clear)

I checked the paperwork, they specifically noted it wasn't a replacement unit, although I have no way of being completely sure I guess.

What do you want to know?

The kit includes a controller board and a glass panel that goes over the original LCD panel. The controller board also has a built in USB hub. It connects to the computer through an internal USB line which went to the web cam over the screen. As an added bonus they give you wiring harnesses to guide two more USB ports to the outside of the machine (to connect whatever you want)

I liked the song. So It seems like you had to disassemble the whole machine? I have seen some kits on eBay around $87.xx, Are these the same? The Japanese website you mentioned had the instructions and said no soldering required but the price was higher than eBay. would you say it is as simple as upgrading Ram modules?

i wonder that too. and for some on ebay, they didn't mention that you have to cut a little on the hinge to fir the wires. so is that really necessary? i don't want to mess it up or cutting it because it's a bday gift from my gf.

Its funny reading my own comments from 6 moths ago. Yes upgrading to touch screen is just as hard/easy as upgrading RAM; because you have to take apart the whole machine to upgrade the memory. I have personally upgraded it with 1 more gb of RAM and a 60 gb SSD. Next project is to install the touch panel. There is an excellent instructional video by tnkgrl (google her). I would appreciate if anyone is willing to reveal the song name.
