i saw this with my mom (this tour) & it was soooo amazing! our seats were right by the orchestra, 2nd row. this show was absolutely breath taking! i have to say, i think Danielle Arci & Ryan Rubek were the best Tracy & Link! <3 they did amazing. (aside from the OBC of course lol)

from what i understand from my friends who were part of the National Tour cast...they have full set and minimal set...its depends on the theater and the size of the wings. i could be completely wrong though. i have seen it both ways.

@broadwayskip I totally agree. But what I'm saying is that to me it don't matter the sets, and costumes because hairspray is about the dancin', singin' and the brilliant music. I am gonna see the UK Tour and I know I won't be dissapointed because they are making it in an efficent way. :)

@broadwayskip First of all: All the productions of hairspray have a pure artificial look except the argentinian because they are all done at weird angles(which look amazing!). in this case the lighting fro the back has made the set look totally FLAT. But they are all mainly the same. i know because I've been backstage and this particular set is very dynamic.

To the drops I can say that the audience wouldn't have noticed and that yeah, it was a little mistake.

@broadwayskip yeah, when I saw it the Dynamites poster in the beginning looked very wet and rippled, as if from rain. These non-equity people don't seem to take care of their sets very well.
