From what I have read, romans remained in italy as that is what a large percentage of the people were. A very large tribe of romans that conquered and took control. I see people that look like the statues in italy today. So you can not say they don't exist. There is no record of them being wiped out.

Uh, no. Maybe you're right about Britain, but really, Hellenism was already spread from Iberia to India much before Romans even dreamed of stepping a foot into the Balkans.

Also, Byzantium collapsed mainly due to the greedy Italian city states leading a crusade against it in the thirteenth century and occupying most of its territory. Genetic studies consistently confirm that both Southern Italians and Spaniards are European peoples, with no more North African admixtures than nations like France and Britain. However, they do say that you White Americans, out of all White groups, are clearly the most mixed. More than any other European group.

That aside, the Etruscans are in Central Italy. We were talking about Southern Italians. Southern Italians are overwhelmingly descendant of Latin tribes in the area. Period.

I won't comment here on the merits of Wikipedia, but even Wikipedia says that Italians are one of the last remaining "genetic islands" in Europe, meaning that Italians haven't changed genetically all that much in the last two thousand years.

Here's a few problems with your theory:

First, at the height of the slave trade, slaves never amounted to more than 5% of the Italian population and prboably much less. Their demographics were terrible. Their lives poor. They died quickly.

Second, it took the Saracens 75 years to conquer Sicily. Hardly a peaceful time to settle. Additionally, the Muslims there were even on the island were deported en masse after the Norman takeover.

Italy has been genetically consistent.
