  • wow been ages since i seen this show

  • it is SOO weird to watch this in English, i watched it everyday in German when i was like 8 .. woah.

  • I dont care if i'm 15 i still love this program

  • I'm usually pretty open-minded about these shows, but...LUMBERJACKS ARE EVIL! BUSINESS IS EVIL! HUMANS ARE EVIL!

  • MEMREEEEEZ!

  • I just finished the first Animals of Farthing wood book and it was good. I still love the tv show though

  • Is it me, or is a little traumatic that the first thing they do in the first episode - is kill off the first animal character? I love this show, but I remember crying every time an animal died, so that's not a good start!

  • @babydollrox They didn't kill off the first animal character in the first episode.

  • Growing up with this I pity the kids of Today.

  • I'm sure I recognise some of the voices. Was one of them from Noah's Island as well?

  • Fox went on to play Matthew Fox who went on to play Jack in the hit series Lost

  • Cartoons were better back then.Full of much more character and charm.

  • I saw this series only once, when I was kid. Then they stopped sending it on TV. Thank you, do you upload other kinds of series too? Even those from other countries that are popular in 90's and before?

  • Oh my gosh...I don't know, but for some reason, fox's voice reminds me of Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead...I don't know, my ears are weird XD.

  • Curse you corporations!!! XD, lol.

  • My fav character already is the fox >:3

  • I'm watchign the first part.I'm pretty sure this is gonna be one of those shows, were almost everyone dies, and something gets sick.I already know this show is gonna be epic. Why can't cartoons be like this, instead of them all bouncing around, happy like retards?

  • @powerwolf901 u might be onto something there :p

  • @rdenton85 I alread know I'm onto something...I'M A SICIC!=O lol >.>

  • Considering its target audience this show was considerably mature for its time. From what I remember watching, this was the first cartoon series I had come across as a child where death touched any character it pleased.

This brilliant series invites the viewer and the imagination to a journey alongside these endearing pix-elated personalities all within the best and at times probably worst seat of the house.

This series is a rare gem amongst diamonds, IMO the Lion King of cartoon series.

  • childhood memories i need this on dvd O.O love it!!

  • Very good animation!

  • ah memories. one of my favourites as a kid

  • I just finished this series a minute or two ago. Although season one is the best, I loved seasons three and two. This is my favorite series so far and if you've never watched it before, prepare to be astonished.

  • Love this show so much. I used to have a bit of a crush on fox xD

  • Hmm when I see the characters in this, I think of Redwall :)

    RIP Brian Jacques

  • @keithtreason Oh same here! I just bought Sable Quean and I wish it wasn't the second last in the series... such a talented man.

  • In the book, Owl and Adder are both male.

  • I don't know...is this worth a watch? Can someone tell me if this series gets more interesting situation-wise or if it's like Watership Down. I shouldn't just by the first part of the first episode but it seems like it's not my type of show.

  • @Jabasourus It get's pretty dramatic later on, alot of them end up dying

  • Weasels laugh always got to me as a child xD

  • in Flandres ( the flemish speaking part of Belgium) it called " Beestenbos is boos" i miss that schow

  • God I missed this show!

  • Before teh interwebz, I knew this cartoon as "Les Animaux du Bois de Quat'Sous because I live in the French speaking part of Belgium". When I googled it and found out its original English name, I LOLed for about 5 seconds, before I saw the H.

  • holy crap animals of farting wood as i would say as a kid...

  • What is Badger saying at 04:05 (I'm subbing it in my language), can someone help, please? Many thanks in advance, although I expect no help.

  • @TheCrackedBrick Badger says "Dicey....hmmm?

    Dicey means "dangerous" or "risky"

  • @pokupokupoku Yeah, that's what I thought. Nevertheless, many thanks!

  • Major hit of nostalgia

  • My nan used to get me the "Farthing wood" magazine. Check my bad self.

  • Wonder if Fox is related to the Todd from the Plague dogs

  • tripple comment /:

just hearing weasels laugh brought back about 30 memories.

  • damn i remember this i was a little girl i still got the books of this program

  • this makes me cry............... WHY DO HUMANS HAVE TO BE SO BARBARIC??????? MICHAEL JACKSON WOULD NEVER HAVE STOOD FOR ANY OF IT, IN FACT, he didn't.

  • Ah! I finally found it! I used to have this on VHS, this is nostalgia at the highest level, haha. Thanks for posting these :D

  • the man who plays fox...also plays.......someone from......watership down.......hazel?

  • nooo not the froggy!!!

  • i just found this , i m 25yr old woman watching this at 2am eating noodles , gosh they don't make cartoons like they used too.

  • Who was everyone's favourite animal? I loved moley and badger.

  • 'Farthing' is old British money. I guess that's where the name came from. I loved this show when I was younger but boy is it traumatic to watch now!

  • love this show <3<3

I used to watch this show then I was like 5 or 6, it brings back so many good memories

you know all the children´s show this days are so boring.

those who make them seriously underestemate childrens inteligens.

  • @mushu9522

its ironic that you spelled intelligence wrong....

  • @Confusedfurry

well, incorrectly if i want to go grammar on myself.

  • @Confusedfurry haha, sorry i'm from Norway. so my english i pretty bad :P

  • @mushu9522 Haha I'm also from Norway, and i'm more used to the norwegian voices, how about you? Which do you think is the best?

  • @MissRubiksnerd97

i will always love the norwegian voices best, they have a spesial place in my heart, so to speak.

but i have become used to the english voises to, and they are not so bad as i first tought.

but the norwegian voises are the best i my opinion

  • Thank you :) ah the memories

  • haha, i didnt know how the show is called in english so i tought this would be a parody with fart sounds. hahahha

  • Weird. I saw a movie of this, which, as far as I can tell, is just a condensed version of the first season. It looks like they got some of the same actors to do both movie and show, but not all of them. Weasle and Fox to name a few.

  • Weasle sounds a little different to...

  • possibly the best ever tv show made? why can't there be more kids tv like this?

  • Fox sounds weird on this one, I'm sure he was more 'cooler' than this! Anyone else remember how annoying Weasel was?!

  • The Animals of Farthing Wood= the first cast of characters I fell in love with

  • Why is it that all the voices are as i remembered except the fox? I could have sworn he had a more suave voice xD

  • I don't remember Fox sounding like this at all...

  • totally brutal then the rock falls on the frog so you know for sure he's dead :(

  • 3.27 awesome laugh... :D

  • Watched this as a child but had no idea how serious it all was - it's actually quite sad, can't believe it didn't upset me when I was so young!

  • I had such an awkward crush on Fox when I was younger... oh man, this reverts me back to my childhood.

  • @animalker XD I love you.

  • @animalker You're not the only one. I loved him then, and I love him still. ♥

  • Wow.

I feel so very young now...

  • I've always wanted to see this cartoon since i couldnt get a hold of the books! :)

  • I used to watch this and read the books all the time, i loved these :D

  • this is real tv for kids! environmentalism, racial equality (silver foxes and red foxes) and none of us who grew up watching this were too badly scarred :)

  • I can't believe I found this!!!! Use to watch this all the time haha

  • slightly disbrubing when you realise a chractor dies in the first 2 minutes!

  • aww animals of farthing wood! fox was my fave! :)

  • i always remember the episode where they have to cross the road

  • @feeble2009 So do I! Which episode is that??

  • @feeble2009 really? me 2 : ))) it was the most intense episode of any series ever,,,, and my tv network stopped broadcasting the rest of episodes, i was crushed, later i forgot the name of the series, but now i found it finally!

  • @feeble2009 aww the poor hedghogs

  • Thanks for uploading i use to have all these on video till my mum gave them away.

  • badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger badger Mushroom mushroom

  • Respond to this video...

  • thank you very much for uploading!!

  • You can get season 1 and 2 for about 10€ each on amazon.de - with German and English soundtrack.

  • The theme tune is epic.

  • Ahhhhh, This brings back memories :)

  • I love this show. I mostly remember Fox & Vixens kits part of the show... can't remember there names.

  • I can't believe this show still isn't on dvd yet...........COOOOMMMEE OOOONNN!!!!!

  • @beauferret

They tried in Australia. But with some stupid magazine with lie 1-3 episodes per DVD for about $20 a month. Needs to say. Not many buyers.

  • omg! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS <3

  • Who on earth could dislike this? So many memories...this cartoon was the best! Defs buying a DVD series to show my kids :)

  • LEGEND

  • @btcc i did to

  • how old is this?

  • @barkmist I watched it back in 2000-2003 when i was young.

  • @barkmist It came out in 1993.

  • I LOVE YOU.

  • i thought when i was young and watched this show, i would be scared for animals and such when i grew up, cus there was some strong scenes there with blood and all...

But now when im older i see that i respect and love animals in a way i didnt know i could. i could never live without all those animals in my life, and i love them all ♥

  • After five years I managed to collect the VHS tapes of the whole series, I do love this show!

  • This show is better than any of the children's shows on at the minute.

  • I love how fox is always so serious.

  • Comment removed

  • watched this when I was little. I can promise you I was never "mentally scarred" or "traumatised" - I always enjoyed this show, and I don't think I'm any the worse for it. People need to stop wrapping kids in cotton wool and actually give them something to think about. Some of the stuff on for kids at the minute is terrible.

  • The only thing I remembered about this was that some characters die, but I didn't expect them to butcher that frog in the first minutes...

  • @HorridDreams YeH, that was fucked O_o

  • @HorridDreams Toad wasnt butchers in the first minuites. he survives and shows up later, youl see him in part 2.

  • Oh i sure remember this! :D

  • I had no idea this was a at least some what succesfull show (or at least it seems to be considering th views this video has). I completely adored this series as a kid. Yes it was grim but that just made it all the greater. It was so serious, not like the stupid AD/HD crap most shows were, and still are.

  • Who knew that a children's show could prepare you for life...

Thank you thelashers for uploading this gem, you are a legend!!!

  • The 90's were fucked :')

  • I don't remember Fox having that accent! Well not exactly.

  • I remember watching this when I was a kid on video. They gave Weasel a rather annoying American voice for the movie, didn't they?

  • @NaiTaiDai Well, dude, I'm sure it sounds annoying to you, but all the other accents sound annoying to us, too.

  • @NaiTaiDai the movie? was there a movie lol?

  • @naam123lol Yes.

  • @NaiTaiDai isn't that movie just the episodes in 1?

or can you find it on imdb or something?

  • @naam123lol I think it's the whole first season rolled into one movie. I remember because the version I watched I don't remember Fox sounding British and Adder had a Southern drawl.

  • Lol at Weasel's impression of Adder =P.

  • fox is such a LAD!

  • why am i, a 19 year old boy watching this at 10 to 9 with a bowl of cerial?!

  • @oasis4ever92 Because you know how to start your day right!

  • @hxcteenagekicks wuuuurd

  • @oasis4ever92 It's ok, I'm a woman of 21 in college watching this at 11 after midnight with some cold pizza.

  • @sarahewright9 reeeespect

  • @sarahewright9 lol... I;m 22, male and its almost 5am Sunday morning... I should probably go to bed before the sad police come for me. youtube is way too adicitive especially when yu've been drinking. i'm gona look for hey arnold or doug funny clips tomorrrow. old cartoons are the best.

  • Wow!!! I used to watch this is in England when i was little!! (I'm 27 now!) I even remember owning a sticker book with a picture of the wood and stickers of all the characters! XD!!!

  • @RommieRules Oh gosh, me too! And the how-to-draw the characters bits! :D

  • @WireMosasaur

    HA!! :-D

  • come on mrs vole you slag

  • Lol. I always liked Adder XD

  • I remember this show when I was a lad, it sent a very good message to children how destructive we are to the natural habitat of wildlife when it comes to development the greed of corporation I suppose if anything it teaches the children to love and appreciate nature and the wild.

  • @TheFaenon I don't think it does to be honest. I think the majority of kids are two young to understand the message, and just end up traumatised as their favourite characters are picked off one by one.

  • @acecrumpet

I think I got the message and I was six when it first came out. But I can't say if I was typical in that respect.

Some of the most memorable children stories are bitter sweet.

Teaching children that not all threads of a story end in a happy way is important, suffering is a part of life.

  • Jesus this so shouldn't have been for kids. If I remember rightly kestrel got shot, weasel OD'd, and fox's legs were broken and was made to watch while vixen was raped by lumberjacks.

  • @acecrumpet Well yaou bdon't remember rightly. Pheasant and his wife were shot, the headgehogs died on the street, a few mice babies taken by a bird, fox's leg's were always fine and vixen was never raped at all. She escaped a hunt though.

  • @iare07 I wasn't too far off :D

  • Miss it sooo much, but since I've known this since I was very little I prefer to watch it in Norwegain (my language). Still, I can't find another version so I'll watch this ;)

  • my childhood has returned

time to put on my pyjamas and sit in a dark room with my nose up against the screen :)

    FUCKING BEST PROGRAMME EVAR!!!

  • OMG this show reminds me of my child hood thank toy heaps for posting these... my 2 yr old loves it too..... wondering if you can buy it on dvd any where??

  • Wow! Totally forgot about this one. I just had a big nostalgia moment... :|

  • @poopalisk where have you been???? Farthing wood is a CLASSICCCC and was made in 1993-1995!!! I think its pretty damn good compared to some of the CRAPPPPP that is on tv for kids today!!! for example??? FAMILY GUY!!! sorry but thats my opinion

  • @jenniehenshaw uh, if you were under the impression that family guy was for children, then please never ever raise any

  • when i was wee i used to go up to the shop every week and get the magazine! i used to get sooooo excited! this is truelly epic! :D

  • hahhaa when the weasel laughs!! it is soo cute!! haha =)
