Was this the first game Faroe Island's won?

Well it was the first ever competitive game of the Faroes but not the first game ever. Faroes started to play unofficial games again Iceland, Greenland and other neighbours many years before that and after their recognition by FIFA in 1988 and before their debut in international competitions against Austria, Faroes had played 4 friendly matches and won one of them - versus Canada in 1989. The result and the goalscorer were the same: 1-0, Torkil Nielsen!

So the Faroese won their actuall first competitive game? That's quite cool, i mean the town i live in Sweden is even bigger then the Faroe islands

Exactly. I don't know in which particular Swedish town you live but population in many of them separately is much bigger than the whole Faroes! ;-)

Hey guys, im from Denmark, i just wondered by interest, if any of you could tell me if The Faroes' got any world Elite sportsmen?

@Nikolaj11 Pál Joensen; swimmer, and we have great indoor rowers, including a world champion, we've got some good chess players aswell. That's pretty much what we have of "world elite" I guess.

@Nikolaj11 Probably got one of the world best swimmer or at least europes best who beat all danes in the swimming competitions. Check him up his name is Pál Joensen.

Unfortuantly he is attending OL under danish flag since we're not indepenant.

But he is swiming for denmark now..

Diffrent rules for competing in other competitions than the OL apparantly you'll have to be a sovreign state.

Pál was Very annoyed off this. But eventualy he had to choose to compete for a foreign land (Denmark) or not to compete at all.
