Reading comprehension depends on vestigial auditory memory for metacognition. Unless there is a memory of phrasing, vocabulary ,expressions and collocations one can read with comprehension. One can't predict well or relate the imagery of text to context. I have a YouTube channel. Children with auditory memory deficits have difficulty with reading comprehension due to a number of factors. One is that that experience difficulty attending to what they hear (even silent reading involves a form of listening to ones own thoughts). In addition, they have difficulty processing the information, making sense out of it because they only pick up bits and pieces of what they hear. After processing, they need to be able to hold this information in their minds and recall it.

@elnino559 I think sort of, but I think maybe because reading comprehension is hearing in our heads what we're reading. I'm not sure what she's saying is true though, I had reading troubles when I was very young, but by 6th grade was reading at a 12th grade 6 mo. level. All of the improvement was made over one summer. However, I cannot do any form of math with ease or accuracy, and my sense of direction and sense of time are still a mess as is my depth perception. I'm dyslexic & dyacalculic.
