This song definitely takes me back to when I was a child. My Mamaw used to sing it all the time. When she would clean the house or do laundry or when she was putting me to bed. She loved Don Ho. She passed on Mother's day a few years ago and this remains one of the biggest reminders of her life. Also...I am pretty sure that is not proper translation. :)

Leon Pober, the composer of this song, was a cousin of my mom. sadly, he died when I was only 14 ( back in '71) so I had only met him once or twice. never got to meet Don Ho but was really into the Limeliters if anyone is familiar with them.

I guess this song explains why my family loves drinking so much! Maybe cousin Leon wrote the song because there was always so much bubbly around
