  • Quick to judge, quick to anger, slow to understand,

Ignorance and prejudice and fear walk hand in hand.

Nobody writes lyrics like Peart. My fave of all time.

  • Vinyl is big among peoples of money who desire a piece of their childhood, well earned for they have served their time in the tombs of your unimaginative young minds yet you still bang upon the chained doors

  • epic...a big fan since I got my EXIT...stage left vinyl in '84.

  • this song kicks too much *** - I'm lost for words

  • i was at the cleavland time machine show and i remember when they played this every time neil hit the drums at the begining part flames shot up and you could feel them all the way in the back

  • Excuse me MACHINEHEAD does better than this.Where did u find that from a comic book on idiots who copy other musicians and the boneheads who are taken buy such a proposterous knowledge that they can do a better job at copying the tune.If it not for this tune would u think MACHINEHEAD could have produced this epic?Doubt it very much so go smoke somemore of that wheelchair weed and listen to yourself sing.Maybe u can learn how to sing and tell the world u are better than Geddy Lee

  • lovely cowbells

  • is there out a better song than this?

  • I'd like to see somebody try to do Geddy's voice!

  • @kennethknife Yeh..maby see but surely not hear ;)

  • If in the Old Worlds does one feel a connection or is it just another passing facade that fades away? Does one feel something within those mossy stones that is ones lost civilization or not? does it surprise you that things never change?

  • I prefer Machine Head's cover, but i heard machine head's version first so...

  • @xXThePhilosopherXx same here lol also, might i peg you as a Death fan judging by your name?

  • @wattsta07 Indeed i am sir, 2nd fave Death Metal band, and one of my all time favorites.

  • "confident their ways are best" - come on neil, everybody thinks that...especially your left-wing madmen fed on fear and lies....whatever...rush rulz regardless

  • Not that I believe in hell or you can scare me with it, hell and devil are just a invention of the church

  • 9 million people get killed by the Christ, they get burned by stakes, got hanged or beaten to dead. Bless them. I rather be with them in hell, then with the people how laugh at the face of someone how get burned by stake in heaven. Stupidity and superficiality that is the sourch of this evil and crimes!!!

  • fitting song for the times...again.

  • machine head do an awesome cover of this. even if u dont like em u shud check it out.

  • This is among great artworks that leave you shaken and unsettled. It takes a bit to come back from, though it doesn't leave you altogether.

  • thugofire and Wrekshin, neither party is a paragon of freedom. But when you look at which party installed judges who stole the presidential election, said corporations are people, and wants health insurers to be able to dump their customers because they get sick, that would be the Republican Party -- no matter how much some Koch Brothers front group paid you to post otherwise on chat boards and YouTube.

  • This was the first album I ever purchased ... back when it was new [on cassette :) ]. I'm once again blown away by this music.

Some people say that really good music is still being made today and you just have to really look for it, but I have heard nothing that even comes close. Not trying to start an argument either ... if you know of anything good and new, let me know please. Until then, I'll keep listening to these classics!

  • @twowheels222 you mite like a band called The Sword ...they are newer and pretty good for this generation

  • everk

  • badass tune... where's charles bronson?

  • YESS!!!! RUSH ROCKS!!!! THEY ARE MUSIC!

  • my week: Monday: Listen to rush. Tuesday: Listen to rush. Wednesday: pee, listen to rush. Thursday: someone doesn't like rush. Friday: find out who they are. Saturday: My visit at the hospital. >:D

  • The song that perfectly describes the "tea party".

  • @thugofire The ones who think they know what's best for us are the Democrats. Unfortunately most "Democrat" civilians have no idea what their party stands for. This is just one of their negatives. Time to start learning everyone.

  • @HughGWrekshin You got that right and also too: Dems are a wild and wacky bunch, pinning their morals on modern day thoughts and not on personal convictions... They fight for the lives of serial rapists and murders on Death Row while embracing the freedom to murder unborn children... Many are atheists hating Christians because they think they know whats best for humanity and yet the atheist-- LIBERAL-- thinks the US government knows what's best... Liberals are walking contradiction.

  • Never has there been a band that can write lyrics like this and play instruments like this all together to create such a sound... that is why rush is the best band in the world

  • There is simply NO SUBSTITUTE for Rush on any level at any time-PERIOD!

  • Yeah, you know whats even more pathetic than the cowardly bully leading a witchhunt, it's the pansy-assed beta male hiding behind him cheering him on. It's really very sad and pathetic.

  • I remember tearing through their catalog trying to find the first 2 parts to fear. (The Weapon, and The Enemy Within) and later ... much later Freeze.

  • no one can remake this song better than it is

  • @archie977 Absolutely RUSH fan yotd

  • @archie977 machine head did quite a darker cover of this realy quite good

  • @GothicGamer347 lol....

  • @GothicGamer347 Its an amazing cover but not better than this to be honest

  • Hey rush fans, take a look in the machine head cover for this music

    /watch?v=ZpWiQZDVFVg

  • @Denizitohmp its a great cover i have machine heads new album its brilliant but their cover of this song in my opinion is lacking dynamics :O but over it its kick ass

  • juris prudence dear

    /watch?v=h2GG2aM6UII

  • Machinehead version is better this sucks

  • @holocaustocannibal machine head took their song and used it ... so please stfu

  • Machine Head cover is better in my opinion.

  • @SubRosaSpear That was good one

  • Comment removed

  • @SubRosaSpear WHAT ARE U TALKING ABOUT! Machine Head's singer sounds like he has a dildo shoved up his nasal cavity....

  • @Bshizz1e Fuckin' sexy.

  • @Bshizz1e This is the point where you learn that people have different opinions. Act your age please. Unless you're under 12. Then grow up.

  • Is it just me, or does this song seem really short?

  • WBC I dedicate this song to you, WBC the ignorant fools can go fuck themselves.

  • this is what we call talent,

  • Fucking Bad Asss Rush Is The Best

  • @maximtrickett Dude... this actually is not a bad tune at all. It's dark actually. There's at least one dark tune in MOST of their albums.

  • turn it up and rip off the nob..

  • @TheGreeneyes777

    Do they still makes knobs?

  • @FeenixRyzing Thats a dam good question...If they do """RIP IT OFF"":-)

  • @TheGreeneyes777 But... My computer has no knob... D:

  • The Greatest Band I Have Ever Seen !!!...With the Greatest Drummer of my Time !!!

  • epic number top ten ever for me

  • "Quick to judge, quick to anger, slow to understand"

Possibly my favorite lyric of all time.

  • @phntomstro Hahah, I was thinking the same thing as I was singing those lyrics along to the song while I read this.

  • Machine Head's cover of this song is amazing. its my personal preference but i find Robb Flynn's voice so much better than this

  • Comment removed

  • @mrbill191715 yea i have full respect for rush, i just listen to more recent heavier metal mostly

  • @MrSelfDestructt420 Lay off the mind reducing drugs there................

  • It doesn't get no better than Rush.....a remarkable group and also tremendous talent.World class ...to say the least! And I'm young...I know this shit is real:-)

  • @CHROLOLUCIFER1 I hope and pray the young ones among us remember this. Of course Rush is world class. And of course this shit is real. Canadian ones they remain. This song goes way beyond us, current life? I could offer Spanish Inquisition. Fear walk hand in hand. May I offer their 600 songs or so? Saw these 3 guys 04/2011, perfectly man I am to say I shed tears over them, watched young ones among me ask if I know of their talent. I did.

  • They say there are strangers who threaten us, Our immigrants and infidels. They say there is strangeness to danger us In our theatres and bookstoreshelves,

That those who know what's best for us Must rise and save us from ourselves.

Quick to judge, Quick to anger, Slow to understand Ignorance and prejudice And fear walk hand in hand. will. Madmen fed on fear and lies To beat and burn and kill.

  • The night is black, without a moon. The air is thick and still. The vigilantes gather on The lonely torchlit hill. Features distorted in the flickering light, Faces are twisted and grotesque. Silent and stern in the sweltering night, The mob moves like demons possesed. Quiet inconscience, calm in their right, Confident their ways are best. The righteous rise With burning eyes Of hatred and ill will.Madmen fed on fear and lies To beat and burn and kill.

  • "The night is black, without a moon. The air is thick and still. The vigilantes gather on... The lonely torchlit hill." Look at thoughs lyrics, listen to thoughs lyric's and dont tell me that doesn't instantly set one of the coolest settings in a song ever. I bet thissong was inspired by their earlier gloomy song... the necromancer pure gold music right there

  • WOW.

  • Soo, Machine Head did a really solid cover of this. It's very different. More deep and less ambient. Both are great, I think :)

  • So is the world going to end on this stupid 2012 or 2112? I believe 2112 ALL THE WAY

  • @HALO3SHIZAL You have it all backward. In 2112, a NEW WORLD will begin.

  • @HALO3SHIZAL YES the album 2112 is unique as well the numbers are curious to me the supposed day of doom is 12,21,12. hmmmmmmmm

  • @PETESEYESBLUE. Nah. They chose 2112 because a) It's in the future, and b) Because it's a palindrome (mirror reflection of itself).

  • Such an awesome song. The guitaring, the drumming, the singing... It all goes together perfectly.

  • I'm not supposed to be born until 2112, and i already love this album.....

  • @seanandtracey1 I'm supposed to live until 2112, go figure........

  • I like the hints of McCarthyism and xenophobia....

  • After reading the lyrics for this song, I was convinced that Neil Peart is a jedi master.

  • @peaceandmetal88 Neil taught the masters.

  • @peaceandmetal88 NO SHIT! I agree.

  • @peaceandmetal88 -better than a rubberhead jerk-off master. (thats a canadian rub for pork)

  • y cant we learn?

  • @melkorsring Learn nothing do we? This offering has NOTHING to do with "a witch". Simply how humans treat each other, nothing more. I have no idea why we can't learn. Asked this very question all my life I have. Me, tiny white 1, and? Your point would be?

  • I NEIL / I KNELT

  • Was 17 when this album came out and never forgot any of the lyrics as one can play this tune thousands of times and still find enjoyment in listening to our Canadian bands this tune i felt is the best on this album getting goose bumps as i play a second and third time RIGHT CANADIANS in the YEAR OF THE DRAGON 64

  • Machine Head's covering this on their new album Unto the Locust special edition

  • Thank god my dad showed me about rush. otherwise, I wouldn't know about true music.

  • @imepic1234 Your Dad must be noticing what I am of late. Music is an art form in dire need of repair. There are those offering good things of late, but no ROCK/CLASSICAL mix. This is hands down the best form of music. Rock begs one to foot to pedal, classical brings a tear from a grown man's eye?

  • I would say this should be the theme for the Blair Witch Project, but it would be like putting gold on a piece of crap. Obviously the rush song being the gold.

  • o.o so putting this on my witch hunt project...

  • @DarkSilence211 My dad as well. I grew up listening to their Greatest Hits album in the car almost everywhere I went haha

  • @DarkSilence211 Wow you're very lucky! A true veteran. I wasn't even a distant thought when this tour rolled through...

  • @IntoBlueMemories May I offer when I saw these 3 fine gentleman I was astounded as to the crowd. 3-4 generations were there. Kid beside me asked if I had seen them before? I smiled and said yes. His mom said I taught him well. I did not know these people, however we all regardless of age stood in awe of these guys. 12 year-old kid beside me sung these songs word-for-word. There is hope.

  • @superunt43 That's awesome. They really are a band passed through generations, and they've already lasted longer than (correct me if I'm wrong) any other group from that era. And by "lasted," I don't mean "are still playing." By "lasted" I mean "still play and sound amazing." Because let's face it- no other band from '74 still sounds so good.

  • @IntoBlueMemories 04/02 of this year, the guys bothered to grace Greensboro, NC with Time Machine. May I humbly offer they only get better, much as a fine wine.

  • @superunt43 Indeed..there is hope for the next generation...I too was there back in 1970's....

  • @epona6 So then I assume you understand? I remain perfectly man enough to admit I shed tears watching these guys 04/02 in Greensboro, NC. Watching these guys do such wonderful music, make fun of themselves, Geddy admit they are "old band" with 600 songs or so and need an intermission? Personally hope they live forever and perform forever, at least until 2112, LOL.

  • Wow.... This deserves a replay. And another. And probably another.

  • must rise and save us from ourselves.....

  • @superunt43

All of the bands that you mentioned were good in their own right. They all had unique sounds. I loved Queen and Styx. ELO was good but they sold their souls to POP. RUSH on the other hand marched to their own drummer. They still do. At 50+ those three guys still put out relevant, rocking good music. Geddy's voice isn't the same but either is Erickson's blinding guitar riffs. Peart still has it. But the thing is they still Rock and Roll. Love em.

  • @Ozgard13 May then I beg question as to ELO "The Jungle?" Pop, well, maybe, good art my friend.

  • @superunt43 Good point. But then I think art rises above our mortal classifications... like pop, rock, alternative... ELO is not so easy to categorize I think. Just art in the form of music, just like Rush and this song.

  • like the great ones, Rush is unbelievable

  • Three guys made all this sound. Geddy Lee on Bass and keyboards, Eric Liefson on Guitars and the fabulous Neil Peart percussion. No band has come close to sounding this good in all of the history of hard rock. Just three Guys put out this sound. Amazing

  • @Ozgard13 There are 2 bands I do so dearly love, Rush and Queen. Hard choice for me to give nod to Rush. What you say is reason I give nod to Rush. I loved Freddie and Brian May. Best form of music in the world is mix of rock and classical. Takes much talent to do this. I could offer ELO and Kansas in this respect, however. I could offer Styx, loved all these bands. Rush gets the nod from me. I am severe critic of talent. I would however have to say I do so love Brian's unique sound as to guitar

  • i love rush...this was their best song!

  • a melhor banda do planeta

    the best rush planet

  • Witch Hunt = Definitively Rush best song

  • i was raised to Rush. im a complete metalhead but one thing will never change Rush is my all time fav.

  • @xxxisforporno

you sound just like me. rush and opeth are my musical gods

  • @xxxisforporno You said it ;)

  • There is a mob consisting of 7 belligerents.

If Rush were all Canada had to offer the world, that would be enough to make it a great nation.

  • If we don't consider the possibility that the ones who disliked may have clicked that button as a mistake, we are nothing better than the "Vigilantes" Rush warned us about. That goes exactly the opposite to the spirit of the song.

I'd rather place the responsibilities on Google for not adding a confirmation popup for the dislike function.

  • @DeftCrowMk3 This song is nothing about "witches" at all my friend, simply how humans treat each other.

  • Yep. Seven tards.

  • 7 people are tards. period.

  • @bobmarleyisgod1 lol ahaha okay you got book 2 as rush's best song?? you clearly havent listened to all of rush's music. do yourself a favor and listen to the song grand designs, you might not get it at first maybe a few listens and then the sounds will click. listen to 2:40 of that song. now that is RUSH

  • Well Hitler was, but we have a super duper dictatorship in the U.S.

  • @baconpoptarts Dictatorship (the current administration), censorship (political correctness), blatant discrimination in the name of tolerance. Yeah, that's the "United" States of America for you.

  • @Emper0rH0rde Obama couldnt dictate shit if he tried, i wouldnt give him that uch credit.

  • I love the picture closest, it pretty much shows how silly christianity is. Think about that, religion has actually convinced people that there is an invisible man in the sky judging us at all time. Amaizing, and Hitler was a madman.

  • The Greatest Band - Their Greatest song

  • the song is good ..but i think it needs more cowbell

  • @JayBennett1973 LOL! shit who you're telling men!

  • mi grupo favorito

    Mexico,,

  • The single greatest album ever made in my opinion. #1 in my top100.

  • just one of many"" HOW THE HELL DID HE DO THAT""moments..I was a teenager when this came out...I saw this show live...today i'm 47years old...""THANK YOU GOD FOR LIFE,THANK YOU GOD FOR DRUMS,THANK YOU GOD FOR RUSH....

  • need more cow bell!

  • Drums ... still send shivers down my spine :-)

  • Cool as shit this was recorded outside the studio! Listen cloe and you can hear the cars and people a little bit.

  • @SweetestMalefacia i think they did that on purpose, and that's supposed to be the senseless mob portrayed by the song. or maybe I'm just not hearing it.

  • @1lovevideos1 lol, I'm old and had to go look it up.. check it out...

"At the beginning, the “mob sounds” were in fact the band layering sounds they made while drinking outside the studio in the snowy winter." Cool!! I was sorta close...

  • how is rush NOT in the rock and roll hall of fame

  • @mikesweet69 because all they want is bands with drug problems and such....btw, WE are the hall of fame so they have been in our hearts and mind ever since ....don't worry they are our band and not Thier's.

  • @mikesweet69 i know its a musical crime for them not to be in the hall of fame

  • @williamcook95 Really? I don't think they belong. And I'm *fond* of this band. In my humble opinion, I think they lack the "soul" Also, KISS has no place in the HoF.

  • End the Youtube Witch Hunts - Let people dislike whatever video they want. Oh, by the way, I've been a Rush fan for 27 years.

  • Dislike? oh yeah someone doesn't understand LYRICS and TALENT

  • geddy's bassline at 4:17 is pure HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song is so effin' good it brings tears to my eyes, makes my hair stand up on end, and gives me tingles in my naughty no-no places. Rush simply amazes me.

  • My favorite Rush song!

  • 6 are somewhat slow to understand...

  • I discovered Moving Pictures at the same time I did Screaming for Vengeance and Number of the Beast. And while I love the whole album, Witch Hunt has always been my favorite, lyrically and musically. It engages Peart's love of wordplay and the band's skill for creating mood in the music perfectly for me.

It has inspired every aspect of my overall songwriting for years. A perfect rush song in my opinion.

  • Can i hear this just one m0:00re time?

  • I first heard this on the Snakes and Arrows Live DVD. I had no idea it was off of moving pictures... must have been their matured sound misleading me...

  • great song i like the unusual beginning...then again i like the whole song! :)

  • a work of art

  • @ponger101 absofuckinglutely bro! Great music!! Best band of all times yet recorded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My dad would tell about the grace under pressure concert he went to.It makes me wish time machines were real.

  • @deerdestroyer2009 I'm with you on that one, my dad has seen them on the GUP tour, Presto, Test for Echo, and Vapor Trails( I was with him for that one). I wish I could have seen them on all of their tours, oh well that's the curse of being born in 1990, missing all the good live music.

  • @deerdestroyer2009 In a way they are, I was able to catch the last show in Rush's "Time Machine Tour", they played all of moving pictures

  • @deerdestroyer2009 you could have just went to the Time Machine Tour from last year it was the first time they played the full Moving Pictures album Live

  • RUSH IT'S ONLY SURPASSED BY LED ZEPPELIN; POOR LIVERPOOL BOY BAND (Beatles) IT'S YEARS AWAY FROM RUSH!

  • another great song from the boys (Neil, Geddy, Alex), this is one of my favourites, it's always a joy to listen to.

  • The beginning of this song reminds me of the Cybermen from Doctor Who.

  • Rush in June 2011, Sleep Train Pavilion, Concord, CA!

  • @CravenEntertainment I saw RUSH there once, it was amazing

  • i love them, they are only surpassed by the Beatles in my book for creativity .

  • 3 people are probably witches....I'm just saying.

  • Moving Pictures is the album that got me into Rush 20 years ago

  • @xpander33 2112 for me 7 years ago
