@bweazel he wasn't betting, he invested in futures, and the price of gold went up since he invested, and his contract was such that he was to take delivery at a certain time. the money was his, it was his personal account, he was CONTRACTED to take delivery of either GOLD BULLION or CASH EQUIVALENT in DECEMBER and they plain out stole his money, somewhere in the range of 2 to $300,000. Just if someone were to buy from Kitco, or APMEX, miles Franklin or any other metal dealer then MF Global bought the brokerage firm he had being doing business with for 30 years and stole his money and others THEN said he could still buy the gold for $300 more per ounce. THIS WAS NOT HIS MISTAKE. This type of thing will happen alot more in 2012!

I buy gold from many of the same places and they DO NOT trade on futures or do anything of that sort. He got involved with some sketchy paper/certificate trading he got burned. ETFs and other certificates do the SAME thing and they dont have to assets OR the gold to back it. get your facts straight. he gambled on paper gold PERIOD!
