  • @LiveVegan. I see beautiful young women and girls who are fighting everyday against oppression. I live in the states and even though domestic violence is also a problem here I have many more rights than these women. It breaks my heart to see these lives ended in such horrific ways. We must all work together to end violence against all women. We must educate our men, our brothers, and raise our sons to be better and to not support this. b/c without women none of us would be here.

  • Most victimization is perpetrated by someone the victim knows and or trusts. If people want to protect their women and children they must know what to look for and who they should be concerned with. If we care about victims, then we must focus on prevention. Not merely media hype, hysteria, and registries. Be part of the solution. We invite you to see for your self.

  • This is a cruel and inhuman barbaric practice. No one deserves cruel violence woman, man, child, animal, plants. I wonder what will these men say when the stand face to face with god on judgment day?

  • at 3:02 they are ma cuzin and let me tell ya sumfin ma uncle will neva kill his daughter kuz he luved his daughter to bits.

godd i miss dem sooo much

    R.I.P

  • How we treat the sick, the old,the weak, the vulnerable in our society is the measuring stick of how civilised we are irrespective of race or creed.

  • Why would they do such things...their supposed to be "family" but I guess you only call people "family" if they love you....I'm thinking about becoming a Feminists Activists.

  • world wide sister hoods, learned self defense, gained more control of weapons, demanded either equal amount of authority for all positions, or more authority, and most importantly stopped caring so damn much what men in general think. If that were to happen, the sun would rise before our eyes, because that would be the day when women truly evolved as people. Women, men, other species, and our planet would benefit from womens evolution. Lets take action ladies, haha! By the way thanks for posting

  • Add to it the recent Santa killings in Covina,CA, A man dressed as Santa killed his in law and ex wife while they were celebrating Christmas. Men need anger management classes starting at an early age. In every culture men try to use their power to dominate women. They also use religion to their advantage. Women have rights too and should have the support of society and law to make their own decision.Women are also harrased at work, paid less then their male counterparts.Men will be men???????

  • this is a horrible horrible thing shame on them shame on them

  • Cannot stop crying - this broke my heart

  • it would be interesting to hear from a guys that have the same religion same believes what do they think about honor killing is it fear...in my personal opinion we have to live for as long as we can and no one have a right to take our lives from us ;] i am catholic we also believe in being virgin until you get merried but even though there are less and less virgin no body are killing girls.. come on it is so stupid to kill someone who want to love ...

  • HI Rokiks, all religions, particularly Christianity have a level of misogyny. You only have to look at their history.

  • But recently? If you're going to take history into account, you have to also take what happened after events into account. When was the last "witch" burned? When was the last girl stoned to death for being raped?

    The issue here isn't gender-related, it's religious.

  • no words

  • this video made me weep...a brother killing a sister because she had a baby never wanted or expected in the first place, a result of rape, he should be protecting her not shooting her...what the hell!!!

To hell with what my family says...When I'm old enough, I'm going to join the army and help the women in Pakistan, if I get shot doing it, so be it!

  • ArikaCullen your going to join the army and do what exactly? Rape, burn and kill a 14 yr old Iraqi girl and advertise it as "liberation."

What about the women killed by US bombs at wedding parties. More "liberation?"

What about the 2 million female fetuses destroyed every year in India because they are females. Going to "liberate," that nation?

Your not going to do anything, honor killings are good advertising for Christianity.

Otherwise there would be videos about the Lords Army.

  • The solution is, that we fight back!

  • Most religions are good for people- it keeps us in check about our moral values. But all religion have flaws, including sexism. Is a very simple concept- it was the males that wrote the books so they are in favor of the males. I don't believe in god and I don't believe in difference social status between men, women, straight or gay. Every life is the same and neither men nor women can survive without each other. Don't stereotype men because some of us do care about women and their problems.

  • Thank you for putting this up. We who have the technology to reach out to the mass should spread this nonsense discrimination and do something about it. For those of you who can vote in the coming USA presidential election please do vote wisely. We are at a critical time in history and I sincerely believe this election would change the world. Hopefully the new president starts focusing on real issues like violation of human rights in many parts of the world.

  • Wake up everyone, males have mental problems! Look at the world! Look at what they do to the animals, our planet you! Not all men are idiots, but some are, and they fall for their weakness "Violence" Women you don't want to oppress anyone, along with some males, you must all unite to lock up this idiot male, and also bring back our natural order "Matriarchy" The sooner men admit that a decent chuck of their gender, has problems the better. When matriarchy returns, peace returns duh!

  • I think you are being a bit naive. The key lies in education/diversity as without this there will be uncountable detrimental bias. Men and women have strengths and weaknesses neither should have dominance over the other. Do not let the majority of men with underdeveloped cortices cloud your judgement.

  • how can you say men!the mothers of some of these beautiful women are the ones to put hits out!You cant blame all on men because its the HUMAN race that is destructive!MEN AND WOMEN!open your eyes.thats the problem!we like to blame everyone else!let start takeing the blame!WE LET THIS HAPPEN!im not saying men arent at fault, but everyone is!

  • you cant have a complete discussion of "honor killings" without discussing Islam as well. anything less to be in denial of the obvious.

  • hi trfonline. As we have mentioned many times in our comments, this vid is not about "Honour Killings" in particular. Please read my other comments. It's also not about Islam, or Muslims. Xenophobia seems to rule some people's ability to see the wider message.

  • errr.....if you watched this video...you would have realised that some of these victims were not islamic...some of them were sikh and hindu. Honour killings are not about a specific religion...they are about the honour of men and their families. They refer to culture and 'old' traditions which have been forced on many families. If these traditions are not followed, then these people fear being dishonoured and shunned by their culture.

  • I am not sure that there is a male global massoganistic problem. It is more a cultural problem/peer pressure. I am a man working in a job that is 90% female based nearly all my bosses are female I have no problem taking oreders from women and feel that this makes me no less of a man. I am a humanist my ego comes from being the best that I can be both mentally and physically. For others unfortunately there ego comes from the power they have over others.

  • its not islammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm its men and culture islam is peaceful men are not and culture is unchangeable and makes religion seem bad

  • that is fucked up u know. i hate religions and i dont get why people like em.just look at these muslims, these are clearly wrong. we might actually live in a better world if no religion was ever created to separate us

  • That poor girl who was shot after giving birth to the child after being raped is the saddest. That poor girl. Not only going through the trauma of rape, but to bare the knowledge you are bringing a rapists child into the world and then to be murdered by the people who are supposed to protect you. She suffered the greatest injustice and it has shocked me to the core. I bet the brother faced no criminal charges of any kind. Where is the justice?

  • This is EXACTLY why I dont care to have any religion as my system of belief. It's not only Islam that subjugates women, so does Christianity and Judaism. Why do women have to be separated from men when "praying and worshipping God" They always use that bullshit excuse about women being unclean and bleeding etc. And that we distract men sexually. In reality menstrual cycle is our bodies cleansing to create life and men need to get their minds right its no our fault if you are a pervert.

  • In reply: LiveVegan and strawberrll1010 i actually thought at the beginning of this video what justice the music bought it... It is not a 'westernised' issue therefore why would using 'westernised' music be sensible? i highly doubt a backing track of Kylie Minogue would have fully encompassed the message of this video. LiveVegan thankyou for making this it was so extremely captivating, and strawberrll1010 it surprises me that your main concerns about this video are in relation to the music.

  • Why isnt the world protecting these women?

  • I am a male physiotherapist in an occupation which is 90% female based. Virtually all my bosses are female. I respect knowledge, rationale, reason and intellectual honesty. Why because I am a humanist. I respect anyone who follows humanistic philosophies male or female and I have the upmost respect for my female bosses. The problem is religion, dogma and arrogance. L

  • Most men are terribly mentally ill...What has happened to them, what has caused this illness worldwide??

  • Men these days are constantly being shown and reinforced by society that women are there to be their property or their playthings. Having sex with a woman is spoonfed as the most important part of being a man.

Change will probably not happen, because to do so would require people changing their behaviors and belief systems.

  • "Having sex with a woman is spoonfed as the most important part of being a man"You are absolutely correct, they start with the objectification of women in the media at age 9 and these media send out the wrong message about women and when men see justification for sexist attitudes,a lot of them go ahead and perpetrate rapes, torture and killing because they see it justifiied in the media and/or their culture

  • "Most men are terribly mentally ill...What has happened to them, what has caused this illness worldwide??"

Well for one: certain religions and cultures keep violence towards women intact. They facilitate it. there is also other reasons I am sure.

  • Hi Oceanica22. I would disagree these men R mentally ill. Women globally live in a patriarchal system which allows varying degrees of economic oppression & sexual & physical abuse. The current reinforcement of male gender stereotypes only assists with misogyny. Destructive male stereotypes & using religion as a method of oppresion will be the demise of our planet & all sentient beings. Competition, domination, destruction and violence instead of dialogue, are not working and are bound to fail.

  • I did not say these men are mentally ill, somebody else did. the mere fact is, and I hope you understand this, that religion(but also tribal cultures)and religious states (read islam here nowadays)actively inforces the subjugation of women on every level to make sure religious power increases, not the least by demography(simply put, marry young, only marry within the religion, get many babies etc). No individual freedom for these women. It is so easy to see you can't miss it unless you're blind

  • It would be safe to say that *all* religions & cultures subjugate women in some way. The Inquisition lead by the Vatican tortured & killed tens of thousands of women. We are not pointing fingers at a particular religion or culture as we have explained a number of times in the comments. Violence against women crosses all cultural and religious boundaries and is at epidemic proportions. We just highlighted one particularly unfortunate form of violence but thats not the point & theme.

  • Hi Nepovol.

  • COWARDLY!!

  • Hi 8191921. Violence against women occurs in *all* cultures & religious traditions. All religions have certain members who hijack the main message. Look the violence fundamentalist Christians perpetrate today & have done over the centuries. They are not held to account at all. Look at the Inquisition, a major violence & massacre of thousands of women. Look at war which is often waged by Christians who use "God" & a moral highground as the excuse. There is never any real accountability.

  • The West needs 2 cease considering itself the ruler of *all* sentient beings on this planet. This attitude will b & is currently the main reason 4 the planet's demise. The West not only oppresses women, but many other groups & nations & yet the West considers itself morally superior & almost never scrutinises it's own imperialist war mongering behaviour and often this comes from a religious motivation. "Thou shalt not kill" has been ignored. We who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

  • Unfortunately, the West would never stand for fair reporting; A fair report on the Middle East and other areas that they have attempted to colonize would result in the West's downfall. Without vilifying its enemies they would no longer be able to "justify" their wars and support for other oppressive governments.

  • I appreciate the fact that you are trying to get a good message out there for a worthy cause.

However... If you ask people not to post anti-Muslim comments, why is it that you MUST use Eastern (arabic / persian) music in your video? That in itself is a bit prejudiced, and honestly, as a moderate tolerant Muslim, I'm getting a bit tired of how the media uses our traditional music to subliminally demonize/generalize us. Most probably this was not your intention, but don't you see what I'm saying?

  • Hi Strawberrii1010, I understand. U may notice the majority of our vids have multicultural music. We use this same music for some of our vegan videos. Often it simply boils down to the length of the video and trying to find music that fits. Other times, it's bcuz I REALLY like that music. As I've stated many times, we use this extreme form of violence 2 highlight a global rising epidemic of violence against women. I'm sorry u c this vid in any way anti-Muslim. It's not remotely meant 2 be this.

  • And by it not being a westernised issue i meant honour killings generally not violence against women

  • Furthermore extreme violence towards women occurs in epidemic proportions in Christian families and in many other religious traditions. It is widespread and needs to b addressed. However the West is elitist & does not like to look at it's own backyard. The West likes to dominate, marginalise & demonise other groups. We filter many heavily xenophobic & racist comments here. We r living in a climate of fear of difference. Having said that, "honour killings" exist and need to be addressed as well.

  • I figured that it was not your intention at all =). I've just gotten so used to it having lived in the U.S. for almost two years now (after leaving Lebanon during the 06 conflict). FOX news uses the music whenever discussing "terrorism" (whatever THAT means=)), Iraq and other nations that they try to vilify. It's a very smart way of ambiguously playing with their viewers' mind. However, I'm glad that your other videos use it positively and that this particular use was without ill intention.

  • ;) Thx for ur comments strawberrii1010. This isn't related to ur comments, but something I find very sad about a number of comments which I moderate & delete, is that they are virtually always by angry men who will find any reason not to see the theme of this vid. They become outraged at the suggestion, and then use it to express xenophobic, misogyny, homophobia & do anything but look at the theme male gender sterotypes and global violence against women. Complete blinders.

  • In todays world several men in the position of father-in -law, step father, bosses etc molest women. Why don't the same society treat them in such a manner as well? Is it because women are weak physically? or is it because honour of the family is women's responsibility? Is it not also of the father -in -law who tries to molest his daughter in law?why should women weep in silence? I wonder if there will ever be an answer to this.

  • Honour killings as shown in ths video have become a part of societies or families who does not consider women as a living being, let alone human, who also responds to feelings and sensations. It hurts, bleeds and pains for a women too- both physically and spiritually.

  • What most women (and men) still ignore, is that a Manifestation of God has suffered what no one else has suffered (everyday a new tribulation) in order that humanity may free itself from its shackles. His teachings say that as long as women are prevented from enjoying the same rights as men, humanity will not attain to happiness. His name is Baha'u'llah ("Glory of God") and He utters these weighty words on behalf of God: "Woman and men have been and will always be equal in the sight of God."

  • My heart goes out to these poor girls and woman.

  • It is very sad that your family can not be trusted. Women need to learn to be prepared at all times to defend themselves against all attackers. Self defense products may not save your life, but they may give you that "small window of opportunity to escape" your attacker.

  • violation of female rights

and examples of poor parenting skills

  • Always think the matter in details, go to the facts, Islam not allowed any one to kill to any body (muslim or non-muslim)

    Thank you very much...

  • i am not muslim myself, but i might remind people that until fairly recently this sort of thing happened in christian nations too. anybody, anywhere who thinks that they're justified in murdering their own family on religious grounds is truly dangerous.

  • so sad =(

i would love to help those women,!!

    but how??

and will i be in danger??

all the women have my BLESSING...

    x0x0

  • "We are born of woman, we are conceived in the womb of woman, we are engaged and married to woman. We make friendship with woman and the lineage continued because of woman. When one woman dies, we take another one, we are bound with the world through woman. Why should we talk ill of her, who gives birth to kings? The woman is born from woman; there is none without her. Only the One True Lord is without woman" Guru Nanak Dev, Var Asa, p.473

  • I dont know much about the sharea but this much i am certain that Prophet Mohammad PBUH said more or less that a victim of rape is not to be killed but the culprit only. Most of the "honor kills" are just an excuse. I bet you people my life that 95% of the Females are absolutely innocent but just for them being a woman, they are the victims as male is "the dominant" sex. Honestly get a Quran in english translation but a CERTIFIED translation and version and read b/w lines. Islam is not this.

  • No one reads the books, any religion is what its followers practise

  • This makes me sick to my stomach...I'm lost for words really...what a waste of precious life.

  • Why?, there is nothing honorable about killing one of your own, especially your own flesh and blood...WTF???

  • OuTRaged.. I am male and to see this nonesense make me sick. all women all so beautiful but so tragic to them. How can this happen in our world. isn't wars killing us already why so many hate in our life. We got to change for the better.

  • didn't anyoen notice that in may of these cases, it's not only the men who kill their daughters/sisters/nieces, but that these wo,en have motehrs, sisters and felow female cousins who help do this too? sometiems we women are bad to ourselves too.

  • Very well said sanyp. I think women's current success have made them even more jealous and mad. So the only way they can take revenge is by raping or beating them. In India the maxmimum crime committed presently is 'rape'. Indian women are becoming successful in every field. Men feel that their importance is getting diminished since they were the financial supporters of families and hence were the rulers. Now the equation is changing slowly. So the crime against women is rising proportionately.

  • May Mary the Blessed Mother of Jesus, she the Great Sign from heaven who stands on the crescent moon, may she be the protection and safeguard of all women in the world who live in such cultures. Through Mary, Miriam, Little Mary, pray for us and bring peace and understanding where there is so much hatred and profanity in this world.

  • Some men seem to see the problem as women. That makes many men a real problem to womenkind.

  • Hindu fashion,it dates back to Vedic periods; if you look at historic pictures of Lord Shiva, Krishna Ram Sita you will see they wore Saris, Bindhis (dots), jewlery in partition of forehead which is akin to HINDU cusom of MAANG (symbolizing marriage). Shiva &Parvati(his wife) were seen wearing jewelled arm bands, forehead jewelery including bindhis, payal (anklets)etc, chuuris (bracelets).!

  • I dont know of any words to describe this or to feel after watching this. All women have my blessings.

  • awesome video, LiveVegan...very true story brought up very effectively....And I love the music. What's the title of the music?

  • Thx cubaricam, cheers

  • That was easily the best video I have seen on you tube...may they rest in peace.

I have only one comment. While I concede (as a man) that the major perpetrators are men, I was disturned by the number of situations where mothers had condoned, and in some cases assisted with these murders? How do you stop something that even some of the victims do not condemn? I have no answers...

  • Anyone who commits an "honour killing" against an innocent woman (or even man, because they are sometimes victims too) should be rounded up and sent to a faraway lonely island where hopefully they can all kill each other off.

  • Open your eyes and see there is no honor in brutel killings of women...thanks for the video now maybe ppl might see its not honor its just men who wish to kill because they think they have controle over women WHAT IS HONOUR is this the excuse for murder...honour is to protect women not kill them thanks for the video

  • i am ashamed to sit here and read and watch all these clippings in my world i would never imagine my family being this cold heartless to myself or two daughters my heart and prayers go out to each and every woman who lives each day in fear of what might come next mat the day come sooner than later for each of u to learn what peace and true love means

  • its true what you say...but in the worlds of theses women i guess they thought the same about there familys it makes you wonder sometimes it scares me to think a family could turn on a daughter sister mother and call it honour..to show honour is to protect not kill help stop this

  • sorry i wanted to do thums up but i did thums down sorry i thought ur comment was great

  • An absaloute disgrace.I cant actually believe people still do this kind of thing in the 21st century!the familys of these young women cant possibly be human.I find it insane that these murderers think that killing a young innocent woman is a so called "honour"!!disgusting!!

  • In the 21st century with a new feminine power and consciousness these events will abruptly come to an end. WE ARE BEING ASSISTED>

  • Lives effected like this, can make being human less than what it's potential. Making one question their actions of how they act to be positive or negative to those around them. How one can directly or indirectly effect any others, as easy as one action or a single word. Why belief can be so cruel. I see no honour in harming another to such extremes, emotions are enough of a pain in their own.

  • There is no honor in killing.

  • There is no honor in killing. Especially something like this.

  • We find it interesting how many men on this board choose to ignore the overall message of this vid and like to point out that women take part in "honour killings". Although a small percentage of women do, this has little to do with the overall message. Please read my other responses to comments. This is not about a particular religion or culture, this is about global violence with a focus on one particular heinous type.

  • Hi JohnfromPerth, If lesbianism were the result of abuse by men, the approx 1 in 10 women are lesbians statistic would be much higher ;) Being gay is not the result of sexual or physical abuse.

  • Please note we will not post any comments which promote hatred & violence or vilify a particular group. Best wishes

  • Hi there. I liked the video and i'm against all kinds of violence, but i don't agree on the blaming this issue entirely on the male genre. Like the video mentions, even the mothers kill her own daugther. I think its more a cultural issue than a genre conflict. peace and love!

  • Hi vnobre, please check out my other responses to other comments about the gender issue.

  • i'm sure you are well intended, but i'm firm in my opinion that male genre shouldn't be the protagonist for this problem and your video conclusion can easely reinforce a stereotype. Like unclepossum refered (6 months ago),the guilt is on the belief system that subjugates wemen (ocurring in all kinds of cultures, coutries, religions and politics)and not on the male genre.

  • Hi Vnobre, Sadly the facts are that almost all violence against women and children is almost exclusively perpetrated by men. That's an alarming global statistic. It crosses all cultures religions etc etc. The main common denominator sadly is men. (con'td)

  • (Con'td response to Vnobre) Not all men solve conflict & their problems with physical, emotional or sexual violence, however it is still a major theme today globally. Pls view global stats. The socially constructed stereotypes of masculinity which are nutured in society as a whole obviously need addressing.

  • Thank you for humanizing the abstraction of 'Honor Killing'.

Possibly you could insert the link to stophonourkillings . com link into the video.

Sadly, this violence pervades all countries and cultures.

  • Hi Humanist12345, the link is in the video information beside the vid. Cheers

  • Good work! Heartbreaking, but good work! xx

  • Very important video! Have you ever thought of making a sequel? There are a whole slew of cases involving culture clashes within the melting pot senario. Some cultures are faced with a dichotomy of 'fitting in' all the while maintaining archaic traditions. Quite difficult I'm sure! Aqsa Parvez's story is just one such case.

  • Hi LeoPueo, Thanks for the suggestion.

  • This is so sad but more than that it is heinous. Instead of standing up in support of these womens civil rights their relatives chose to kill them in the most bloody way possible, like they were sending a message to their peers. All perpetrator of crimes like this when proven beyond reasonable doubt, should be sentenced to death.

  • Hi liberatednow, Violence only begets violence. Capital punishment should be left in the 20th Century. It has no place in an ethical society.

  • very touching and disturbing

  • this is really really sad

why are women in asia and middle east treated like this

someone needs to sort it out

    its disgusting:(

and the men just think they have property over the women when in actual fact they dont

people have changed islam so much how saddd

  • The thing I cannot understand is that people kill women for feeling love for someone. That is totally against God.

  • this video is compelling me to leave my muslim bf ... i have so much of anger inside me. I dont knw hwo to take this

  • Hi Joset2. Unless you are the victim of violence, or feel you could be the victim of violence, there is no cause to leave your b/f

  • Well done gathering those stories. Except the text you wrote is misleading. These deaths are largely in the Middle East, not "globally." You ignore that many of those women's mothers perpetrated their deaths. These killings are a horrible cultural problem that encompasses the whole society, both men and women. Those societies kill women who they feel are sexual promiscuous, for any reason. Parents are killing daughters, brothers killing sisters, it's so horrible. I'd never hurt my sis. :*(.

  • This is so sad and it made me weep. I wish the oppressed Arab women could live in the United States. Not that men here aren't violent, but at least it's illegal. And most educated American men aren't violent towards women. My heart bleeds.

  • dammm!!! i'm from n.z & the thought of this sort of shit happening to woman is just beyong me man...never ever new that this sort of crap happens to woman....thank god i'm a proud maori woman...& not a victim over seas some where...very sad for all the victims...

  • These men are hardly "Men". Cowards deserve fates ten times worse then these beautifull innocent women.

  • AAhhhhhhhh....is this all real ??.......How can we change this fellas.......I can be good for myself.....But what abt other bastARDS..God help us...How can these people kill there loved ones....Im a Man .......I oppose this shit.....Support the respectful women in this....pschh...donno how ??

  • beautiful girls, sad endings.

no wonder, people tend to believe who cause pain.

  • let me tel youa vise from the quran . if any humanbing kills any other humbeing its astho hes killd the hole of man kind. . . it dosnt say if you kill a muslim or if you kill a nonmuslim . . . it say says if you kill any humanbing itstho youve killd the hole of man kind.

  • last year the netherlands had over 200 honor killings amoung Muslim resdients

all of us live with this

    we just call it homocide

we need pressure brought to bear so that we count THESE killings not as simple homocide

    but as a hate crime.

    STOP HONOR KILLINGS

  • 4 of those women is from my country and I am ashamed of it big time....

and that is why I don't tell people i am kurdish cos many kurdish man still think it's ok to kill women if they don't do what a male members of the family tell them to do....

  • This is extremely disturbing video and I know as an Arab Muslim man in order to solve this problem we need to teach that Islam punishes the men severely even for slander. You must have 4 men witnessing the actual act other wise you'd be whipped and if the woman dies then you'd be executed. I am surprised that non Muslims don't that but rather when I mention it to Muslims there are shocked that the Islamic law punishes the men severely

  • There is no honor in this. It's evil misogyny.

  • wow i didnt know that this actually happens

  • thank you for makeing this video it is very touching and i hope this madnes comes to an end

  • Hi I am doing project on Honor Killings in my class and this video is so powerful, i am thinking of using it to show to my class.

  • kurdistaniatheists. com

  • Faith equates to exclusion of rational thoughts and love. If religion were to perish, war and violence will be reduced severely..... Including battering of helpless women.

  • sad...

    christians used to burn 'witches'

religion should not be taken so seriously or literally.

  • Of all the talk of genocide, the continual murder of women which is tacitly condoned by those in the Middle East is an ongoing one of which nothing substantial has been done. If Islam forbids this, then the Middle East is home to a multitude of evil, it is wet with the blood of the innocent. R.I.P.

  • I am a man and i find these crimes against women to be so so ...i cant even say it it is so discusting seeing what these "people" do to there daughters just because it "dishonors" there family people its 2007AD not 2007BC join us in the so called civilized world

  • I will suport your cause all the way ... women are equall and free thinking must always win!

  • It is an eye opener for the brutal behaviour of our own people against kith and kin...Death or killing a person is not a solution..no one has got right to kill anyone..It is heartening to see such incidents....I appreciate the courage and the heart behind the video...we all are human beings..one should remember no person in this world is PERFECT!!....__Balaji

  • oh God..

  • Those women do not effect oil production. Therefore they will never be avenged. Welcome to the world.

  • this should not happed ... i feel ashamed ......

i just don't know what to say,,,,,,,,,,

  • also this video is a little offencive to peace loving men such as myself, not all men turn to violence to solve problems, or i wouldent have sat here and wached this video and felt sorry. please think about your sexual themes before posting a video.

  • Hi Kylefer, thx for your comment. There is no need to feel offense if u r a peaceloving man. The vid does not generalise about all men. A better reaction than offense would be to think about what one can do to educate those men who believe violence is a way to solve conflict & their problems.

  • Whatis the law doing! I understand they do nothing in middle east, but why are these happening in europe.

  • the most embarrasing is that people are killing in the name of god.

  • Yes crimes against women are global and span all cultures, however, the fact remains that in some cultures it is tolerated, condoned and even encouraged! That is why honor killings are so prevalent in those cultures and why the majority of the women in the video above, by their names, can be clearly identified as members of "that" culture.

  • And I wondered why so many women from the East but living in the West still "chose" arranged marriages.

  • it still goes on daily , that's why it really pains to see all the young girls i went to school, with in unhappy arranged marriages, the families lay a huge guilt trip on them from the moment the are born, they do everything for them and then the day you say no to them is the day you die,how sad

  • Very sad, im a male and this shouldnt happen not to killl or torture or hurt! Remember Allah sees and hears all! the killers may get away in this life however in the next life with the will and wrath of Allah they shall not escape

  • im a muslim and i absolutly totally disagree with honor killings. yeh im a girl and of course i would disagree with it but even some men im sure would disagree to0.they say that this is religious but its not. its just "cultural" and there is a big difference in that. there is no where in the qu'ran that says you must kill a person because they have bought "shame" to the family..thats just stupid, horrible, nasty people who think its right to do such a thing.

  • It has to be concrete laws that truly abolish this practice, really how many women in India actually die because of an "accidental kitchen fire", but who will change the laws.

  • Honor killing is not only perpetrated by Muslim, its also done under other religions.... and then their is the immense problem of female infibulation, practice in many african countries. How does one change the norms in society?

  • Whats that Tune called ?

  • well done to whoever made this video! its very touching.

  • What a blatent showing of insecurity and lack of self confidence by the men of this culture/religion. No where in the Quran is this warranted or acceptable. I love women of the middle eastern culture, but they are so antisocial, now I can understand why! Thanks for showing this.

  • I am ashamed that my gender would allow itself to stoop to such horrific behavior. As a Man, I could not even think of treating a woman in this way. It is sad to think that there are men, and women out there who put their own personal agendas before the laws of God. How sad it is. I feel for all of these women and girls. They will forever be in my prayers.

  • Remember without a man AND a woman you would not have children. It is up to us to respect mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, neices, etc.

  • i really cant believe tht this is happening..im in shock..its realli hard 2 watch n very upsettin bt it as made me realise tht it has 2 stop!!it is absolutly rong!!these poor women n girls bin brutally murdered by their own families bcus they fell in love or out of love with the rong men!people cnt b forced 2 love sum1!bt this film actually made me cry it is tht upsetting..bt things despr8ly need 2 b dun

  • When you post this, you should tell the WHOLE STORY while you have the information IN FRONT OF YOU! There is nothing worse than leaving readers up in the air whether the perps were punished or not. I'll try to find university textbook where I read about this.

  • Hi Ellison8. You may wish to visit the site mentioned in the vid for those answers. Vids can only be 10 minutes long.

  • ellison if you manage to find this would you put the source on youtube if you can or leave a reply to my msg,and i will leave my email adress for you to email me the info ..i have to find out after watching this ,what i can do as a human being to help stop this outrage ..god bless these poor souls..everyone its so so sad

  • so so sad!

  • I have read that 1 in 4 women will be raped in her lifetime. 1 in 3 women is assaulted. This must stop.

  • This must stop, unfortunatly more goes unreported, and as far as men, much much more gets unreported. These are really sad statistics, they make me want to cry

  • I think it's more. Those are just statistics. I wouldn't be counted because I never reported it to anyone. It was done by 3 different people. I can't imagine how many others there are

  • Its Sad to see what has become of us humans. Frm arranged marrages to affairs. Yelatif , May God have mercy on all our souls. the world would be a better place if people would worry less about others and focus on how God wants YOU to be.Salams

  • There cases of men being killed too. Recently in the UK, a Sikh killed his son because he was having an extra-marital affair with a Caucasian woman. He claimed that he did a right thing and would do it again if he had to do so. Girls are much more in danger due to the fact that they are the family's "izzat". Izzat is somewhere between pride and honour. It is good that this is brought up and it should be tackled head on at grassroots level.

  • I didn't know Sikh men were killed, but that must be very rare.

  • A solution to this issue lies in the value of "face". Having gone through Surjit Kaur and Amandeep Kaur Atwal cases myself personally, it was a case of preventing shame from coming to the family. The problem lies there. In the case of Atwal, her parents were staunch Sikhs and did not approve of her marring a non-Sikh. In Surjit's case, she openly had an affair that made the family a laughing stock amongst their society.

  • Life should be respected. Every person should be respected. We don't have any right to take someone's life or to condenm a person for their, abilities, intelligence, talents, bravery & strength, open-mindedness or just because of being true to themselves and others. Women should be respected, too. Thank you very much for posting this. I am a woman, too. And a human being...

  • Thank you for pointing out that this is a global epidemic not just related to one society, culure, or religion. You focused on honor killings which is cruel. Also pointed out that women and children are victimized many ways everywhere. Thanks for bringing it out in the open, and not being biased.

  • Thx for ur comments. Its appreciated. Sadly we find there are a few Youtube members who try to take any opportunity to express their xenophobic and anti-Islamic pre-existing prejudices. Sadly, however they have completely missed the point of this vid. They waste their time posting xenophobic comments, as we are a hate free zone. Thanks for understanding our point.

  • Thank you. It is nice to have a nice comment in return. I just want to point out that as an American revert to Islam I have felt treated with more respect and dignity than any other time in my life and I wear hijab proudly. Thank you again for pointing out the epidemic of the "human race". Thank you so much.

  • Hi Jwsgirl26. Thx very much for ur comments. Many of us in Australia are very embarrassed of our current government and it's xenophobia and it's vilification of Muslims today. I personally at times have an impulse to run up to any Muslims I see in the street and apologise to them for how the Howard government is behaving. Hopefully the current Howard government in Australia with all it's xenophobia will be gone soon in the coming elections. Best wishes

  • Thank you LiveVegan. In America also many are not happy with our government and its treatment of people. Esspecially with how the media portrays Muslims, we think that it's to get support for certain propoganda. They do that to a lot of groups of people, now it seems a lot of people treat us with contempt and they don't really understand us, esspecially if we are American Muslims. (I mean caucasian Americans who revert to Islam). You are such a nice person.

  • peace be with you

  • I heard in a class that more women are abused in the United States than in the middle east. I've wanted to research to find if this is actually true or not but I am having a hard time finding the data on the internet, can someone help me find any statisics on this subject?

  • this is so fuckin bad ... NOBODY AND I MEAN NOBODY HAS THE FUCKIN RIGHT TO KILL SUM1...GOD makes you and GOD takes you....

  • great video. Some of the cases were seriously unbelieveable

  • these people are sick!! they need help, killing each other for nothing!! wake up and look what you are becoming

  • A woman stoned to death A woman buried alive By the hands of my father, your brother, our sons And if I cry, I am a coward And if I yell, I am a bitch And if I raise my children and forget myself, I am a martyr And if I leave the house to celebrate, I am a whore One day, you will see One day, you will see through my eyes The eyes of my mother, your sister, our daughters The eyes of the woman stoned to death The woman buried alive One day....
  • hope u do not mind I am stealing this comment to post on another site regarding the abuse of muslim women

  • This video has completley jerked every string in my heart. There is NO such thing as an "Honor Killing"--God honors NO ONE for killing any of his creations. May these women rest in peace and see the infinite love they rightfully deserve. Men should be ashamed of themselves.

  • This is so barbaric... how can anyone kill another human being? And especially a member of your own family??
