Yamada sensei does not use excessive force. I had the chance to feel him and he was gentle but firm. I was just a beginner. he same thing for Waite Sensei. However I am positive he asked people not post or duplicate his productions.

aikido techniques are based on contrived situations designed to develope timing,reflexes,speed,and clarity of thought.'Real situations' are much more unpredictable so one must realise this not real fighting or even sparring.When ones training is advanced,one will develope true effectiveness in defending ones self.Please understand it is almost impossible to learn Aikido without a good teacher ,not trying from a video. THANK YOU.

I ave a hard time accepting these techniques. The opponent must always stay extended and never change attack direction. Real situations would end up a tangled mess on the ground.

Well it is 5th kyu. In a lot of places 5th kyu is the first grading.

This video is an amazing resource. Thanks so much for posting. Someone else commented how its nice that he points out common mistakes students make when performing the techniques. I couldnt agree more. I think those points were almost more helpful to me than the techniques, which of course are amazing to watch such a master perform as Yamada Senseit.

I've been following these instructions for years. I recall that one 6th sensei, student of Tamura shihan, gave this tape to my sensei and my sensei gave it to me. It's been more than 5 years since I received this video tape, but I don't understand all of Yamada Shihan's instructions. His teaching is so valuable.
