I do agree that the U.S. media usualy portrays Latinos as either mestizos or mulattoes, but I don't see anything wrong with that, since the majority of Spanish-speaking Latin America is mixed-race anyway. But I guess it would be nice to see some actual black Hispanic and Asian Hispanic characters in television too.

Yes, Brazil does. Brazil has more European admixture than Venezuela. The average black Brazilian has 48% of European genes, but the black is what makes them beauiful. Majority of the supermodels in the fashion industry are Brazilian, there are barely any Venezuelan fashion models working internationally. 53.5% of Brazilians are white and 38.5% are mixed with white. But Brazil is nonetheless Africa's baby, that's why we're so beautiful, it's because of the African gene.

Dayana Mendoza is mestiza, she is product of European and Amerindian admixture, but I agree, she has the phenotype of a European and the complexion of a mestiza. I tihnk mulattoes and blacks are the most beautiful, but that's my opinion. I don't know much about the Amerindian populaton of Venezuela, but I know that it's 0.4% in Brazil.

The U.S. is more openly racist. Explain to me why there are barely any blacks in Spanish-language Latin American soap operas? I mean I have seen blacks in Brazilian soap operas, but when watching soap operas from Colombia and Venezuela, there never seems to be at least one black or mulatta, that is racist. here in the U.S., blacks get exposure, but that's not the case with Spanish-speaking Latin America.

Majority of the models imported from Brazil are of unmixed European extraction, the only exceptions are Adriana Lima, Ana Beatriz Barros, and Alessandra Ambrósio, and Emanuela de Paula, and the majority of the rest are white.

These Colombian actors and Venezuelan actors are meztizos and some of them white but the majority meztizos that are like the majority of the populatin who have in their blood a large percentage of eruopean blood and they easily can be seen as white. The soap operas perfectly reflect the population of venezuela and colombia. A meztizo in brazil and venezuela and colombia has light skin. It is not BROWN like the mexicans who have a lost of amerindian in their blood.

There are barely any mestizos in Brazilian soap operas. Most of them are white, black, mulatto, or white-looking mulattoes (just like how in Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela it's white-looking mestizos).

Univision and Telemundo not only has Mexican soap operas, they have Colombian, Venezuelan, Peruvian, Argentine, Chilean, and Dominican soap operas as well, and I have never seen a black or mulatto i any of the soap operas imported from the aforementioned countries.

Not all meztizos are the same... in Mexico a meztizo can have a blood composed by 75% of Amerindian Genes and 25% of European genes. In brazil and venezuela that mixture is different..the percentages. A meztizo in Venezuela can composed of 65 to 70% of european genes and 30 to 25% in black and Amerindian. The percentages of euro blood and the mixtures with black and indian genes are all different throughout latin america.

Well, mestizo in Portuguese is 'caboclo/cabocla', and it denominates a person of mixed Caucasian and Amerindian background only. There is a lack of mestizos in Brazil. Brazil is mostly mulatto, white, and black. As far as I know, Gisele Bündchen is of unmixed German Brazilian descent.

I'm already completely aware of that. My last name is Italian, and I hate it, Italian last names are hideous. My mother is of Portuguese, Sephardi Jewish, Swiss, German, and Polish descent, she's pale with freckles. Actually, only 33% of Brazilians possess a degree of Amerindian ancestry. Most brazilians are combo of black and white, some have more black than others, others may have more white than black, and some just look ambiguous.
