This song is excellent. I always remember being so nervous when first entering the Pure Lands, because most of the regular enemies could totally destroy you in just a hit. You needed to do a bit of leveling and get money to buy the new armor to survive in here. This song brings back all those memories.
@rabbitmickey82 remake for xbox360 or ps3? you mean nintendo wii? what the fuck would a nintendo game thats so awesome do on a console with over 50% of fps games?
@Happytreefriendsfan3 i don't know if 50% fps games will be good on these consoles but a remake does not necessary means a bring over if this is your understanding. Graphics can be improved, may be an online multi-player mode with trophies. But of course a similar story line and remaining certain crucial elements that brough it's success; great music and game plots, puzzles.
@rabbitmickey82 I think they're afraid to remake these brilliant classics because it could be so easy to completely f*** them up. One changed system or mechanic or scene and the whole fanbase is in an uproar. But I'm all for having the same game with just ultra-modern graphics updates.
the forrest of mana...untouched for centuries, growing into a utopia of beings that live and breath mana in such quantities that they become more powerful than even their greatest bretheren, with the heart of this land, the mana tree, making this world possible to exist. this song captures that very idea and just now made me think of that summary. man...square enix makes the greatest rpgs EVA.
This is really great, especially considering that it was programmed to play on a SNES, but I recommend checking out mainstream the 1980s' hard rock-heavy metal hit "Still of The Night" by mega British hard-rock band Whitesnake.
my parents bought me this game like 15 years ago, or even more. took me over a year to beat it, i was a young laddy at the time. probably the best SNES times of my life. breath of fire, ff3 lufia and all those other games were dope, but this game was the dopest id have to say. memories of my man Salamando.
Good to see someone else who appreciates how fantastic Secret of Mana and it's music were. In video game history, it definitely stands out as a musical masterpiece.
Although as far as "atmospheric" goes, there are still two in SoM that take the cake for me that you haven't used - "Ceremony", one of the most disorienting and eeriest songs I've heard in a video game, and "Prophecy", which really made the late game flights seem like you quest had a desperate urgency.
SoM is just such an epic game! i want to know why terranigma has such a following but illusion of gaia gets overlooked? IoG was awesome, as is Secret of Evermore, and of course chrono
I've never actually played Secret of Mana, just heard a lot of good things about it. Where does it rank in comparison to other great SNES RPGs like Crono Trigger, Mario, and FF3?
Terranigma is one of those games I cannot for the life of me get into, but I can definitely see where the craziness for it comes from. What little I played is fantastic and I regret being unable to do it more justice.
A word of advice. You need to play about 3-4 hours or more into the game before it becomes truly excellent. The game's very odd initial setting is only a prelude to a much grander story.
remember me please, one player can play as the kid with a mana sword (im calling him like that because you can give him any name) and the other player can choose if he wants to play as sprite or that other boy (sorry i cant remember his name,my memory isnt serving me right)

Secret of Mana has to have some of the most aesthetically pleasing music I've heard. I love Nobuo's music, but Hiroki made this game very memorable.

One of the hardest slogs in the entire game, six bosses to defeat, finally we make to the Mana Tree and then...

I especially love the guitar near the middle of the song where it's played with a bow.

@GarrettR90 Ya, man. That is so rad. John Sykes FTW, and, for most certain, also David Coverdale ftw also.

Definitely one of my favorite tracks in the game and with much difficulty in choosing since most of the music in this game is pure awesomeness.

The thing about SoM is that you can play it together with 2 friends.
Everyone has a role he/she must fulfill. It's very similar to MMORPGs in that regard.
If you can recreate this feeling with some friends, this game is top tier.
If you play it on your own (and today) however, it's just a another good SNES game.
Oh, and play Terranigma.
