  • I was there in 77 ...WOW!

  • my new/oldest musical addiction just came home again.

  • Very very great album! The best rockers live album in XX centrury. Thanks for posting.

  • This song is so beautiful, so perfect. Actually it brings tears to my eyes when I listen to it, after all those years. Not many songs do that. In my opinion, it has to be one of the very best songs made in history of mankind. God bless Thin Lizzy.

  • I'm proud to say I was there front row in front of Brian and still remember it like it was yesterday. Probably the most under rated band along with UFO. These guys friggin' ROCKED!!! RIP Phil We will always remember you and Thank you for such awesome music....Timmy Junt

  • bootleeg is Thin Lizzy - Philo in Philly thats where i found it last this i seartch

  • "For those about to die"

Chill down my spine! Nuff said!

  • Man, that riff at 1:07. The very essence of Thin Lizzy is distilled into that riff.

  • @acaserogue01 They made there very own sound!

  • @acaserogue01 You are very right.

  • I Love this song!!!!!!!! pure Magic!!!!

  • This is an oficial live album, not a bootleg.

A great live album, from the "Bad Reputation" (I think).

  • yes, but it's taken from a '77 Philadelphia show which is a bootleg

  • @ThinLizzyFanpage god I can't remember the name of the bootleg I just had it fuck lol.

  • What a song, and that opening chord,, da da daaaaa,, magic,, real magic

  • @MrTinlizzy u have to see that these are Lynott's interpretation of Irish music...very deep into their musical roots..alot of the signature twin lead riffs are very bagpipe-ish (i know Scottish but..)...it's all there distilled into their magic.

i could easily see a twin bagpipe presentation of the twin lead riffs throughout their catalogue

  • @MrTinlizzy I agree

  • Gotta love the gong at the end 5:20.

  • This cd is great in one way, but also a disappointment. I've got a bootleg of this concert which sounds pretty much almost the same but it's about 17 songs. There's a couple of songs that should have been on the disc, particularly the scorching version of 'Johnny' - unbelievably awesome and a rare song to hear live. I can't believe they didn't put it on there. Plus there's a great version of 'Are You Ready' as well that should have made it.

  • Hey man, share that shit on SoulSeek please.

  • Hi.

Is there any way you could put Johnny and Are you Ready on youtube?.Would love to hear these.

  • yeah sure ;)

  • The version of Johnny is already up. Search on Johnny Philadelphia.

Are you ready from this gig must be a very very early version of it as it's quite loose but really cool.

  • Ah thanks.

Yeah i've found the version of Johnny.Like you say it should of been on the cd.

  • I honestly couldn't believe that Johnny wasn't on the cd. It's probably the highlight of the whole concert as it's sooooo tight and it's a rare track for us Lizzy fans to hear live.

Overall I get very frustrated by official Lizzy releases. The box set sucked (should have had demos and rarities - not just studio material we've already heard) and I think there's much more stuff they could put out.

I read recently that Gorham was working on fixing up the Sydney Opera House gig tapes. Kickass.

  • Yeah i agree.Wasn't Bad Reputation from Killers live part of them gigs too?

Also i'de like to know how many songs were edited from the L+D gig at the Rainbow.I've seen Cowboy song(on youtube) which was cut before Boys are back in town but there must be others also.

  • Yep, Bad Reputation was from Philadelphia. I'm not sure what songs were cut on the video, but I'm assuming at least Cowboy Song & Rosalie. Jailbreak must of as well - they always did it.

A few of the Philadelphia songs are on the Live & Dangerous album. I've read many articles (including from producer Tony Visconti) saying the album was ALL studio recorded, except drums. I say BULLSHIT. Listen to a few of the Philadelphia songs (Jailbreak in particularly) which is obviously the same version.

  • What's the bootleg called?

  • I found it somewhere on the net. Some metal webpage thing had a link to the files - 6 months ago so I can't remember. I was just searching on google to find bootlegs of the show. So just do a search on downloading the philadelphia 1977 show and I'm sure you'll find it as it seemed the most easily available and best sounding bootleg of Lizzy.

  • Thanks for the playlist. I'm really happy with it. I'm really a collector of playlists (If you checked out my page you would see that I've got like 60 playlist already.)
