  • I love it how can I make a hand bag of of this stitch? Please tell me:'(

  • You are amazing Teresa! The greatest of all time!

  • Don't get me wrong, this is a really informative tutorial, but my God is it repetitive! I skipped ahead a good 23 minutes because it's just you repeating the pattern over and over again! Thanks for the very good explanation of the stitch though.

  • I used a 6.5mm hook to learn and to practice, for me bigger is better... I shouldn't have tried this at 3am though lolol... I actually started my chain w/22 and then went into the 3rd chain and it came out after several failed tried at 20 chain... I think because a double stitch I find chain two at the start works... it's madeningly difficult to explain, BUT I DID IT and it looks awesome! Thanks for your tutorial!

  • @AnneGirlCarrots Great to hear about your success with this stitch. Keep it up!

  • Excellent tutorial. I got it right away. Thanks!

  • It started out with row one then it suddenly jumps to where you have a handful of stitches? I got completely lost. I've crocheting for 2 years but this stitch is giving me a really hard time. This is the 4th or 5th tutorial I've tried. :-(

  • no one ever teaches the way u do, u r the best, i loved crochet from u, ur easy voice and slow motion and repeating makes any one can crochet happily

  • Thank you so much I loved your tutorial you took your time in showing us how to do the stitches and that helped alot and the pattern turned out lovely!

  • @RachelLivings You are welcome.

  • what color would go good with the color turquoise? i enjoyed your video

  • I'm actually using a medium Lion Brand wool/acrylic yarn with a size 6 hook. Do I have to add more stitches since both my yarn a hook are smaller than yours?

  • @wahinesurfergirl If you want it wider, you will add more chains

  • This is neat!

  • I was curious how I could integrate this stitch into the dress I have started for my daughter. I started the stitch for the bottom of the dress, but it has come out upside down. How can I get the flowing down effect (right now the stitches face up) without starting from scratch? I have already completed the top half of her dress.

  • Do you have a matching hat tutorial that goes with this scarf?

  • It took me awhile, but I figured out how to do it for left handed crochet (which I am). Basically, I worked it all from the front side & didn't turn for the anchor rows (for lack of a better term).

  • excellent- thank you so much!

  • @sheriteeples You are welcome.

  • Thank you so much for this demonstration! It's very helpful. If making a scarf with the same row, how much yarn would it take to make a 5 foot scarf?

  • You are a good teacher with great patience....

  • thank you for great illustration!

  • somehow i keep getting two double crochets in the last stitch. i dont understand how though. :l Help?

  • increases and decreases is what cost me most to do, as I do?.......

  • Does this video overlap? as i was trying to do this it seems it went from middle of row2 back to the first one..... im confused ... please help :)

  • great video thanx! where did you get thick 'saddle' for the your crochet hooks?

  • Great!!! This video is not too fast, I was able to learn on the first watch. Thank you soooooo much!!!

    I love you.

  • @Sukalya1 Thank you. I appreciate your kind words.

  • @tjw1963 where did you get that great crochet hook, the blue one with the wider end ??

  • @Sukalya1 It is a normal crochet hook with a pencil grip

  • Please make a tutorial on how to make a hat with this style. Pleaseee

  • @Cherryummm you can look up crocodile petal beanie tutorial and the lady there makes a cute infant hat or if you want, you can make it bigger for yourself (I did)! Hope this helps you! Happy crocheting!

  • @elassuy Okayy. thank you that helps!!! ^__^ <3

  • I am making this scarf. This is my first attempt at the crocodile stitch in rows. I am having some issues with the left side of the work. It is super tight. I have tried to make it looser to match the right side but nothing seems to work. I'm on row 26 and I fear I will have to rip it all out and start all over, unless you can direct me to some kind of "save" for my work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

  • @elassuy If it looks that bad there is no save, only ripping out and starting over. When you start over, make sure to crochet looser on the one side so it is not to tight.

  • @tjw1963 If I have to start all over that is fine. I was just hoping! I wrote the pattern while watching the video; so, I will have to revisit the video for technique help! It is only the left side that is tight. I guess I will have to make sure I am getting the right stitch on the wrong side of the work. Do you think it could possibly be that I am not in the right stitch? Thanks, I will keep you in the "loop"!

  • @tjw1963 was missing the chain at the end of each row! oops!! :D

  • Very well presented. Can't wait to try it out. Can you please tell me the multiples + for this stitch? Much appreciated, also appreciate the time you took to make this video.

  • Is there a written pattern for this anywhere?

  • Dear Teresa, your videos are so informative. You are such a very good teacher. It's like taking a class in calculus with a teacher that makes it as easy as learning 1+1 = 2. Because of your tutorials, I was not only able to brush up on my crochet technique, but now I'm designing my own crochet items and I have an online store on Etsy. I'm very excited and whenever someone may ask me about learning how to do anything concerning crochet I send them straight to "Art of Crochet by Teresa."

  • @sweethoneythoughts It is wonderful to hear you have created your own online store. How thoughtful of you to send people my way, thank you.

  • @tjw1963 You are more than welcome! When I see a good thing I'm the type of person who just has to go and share it with everyone! LOL!

  • thank you for making it so easy for such a tough pattern.

  • @itsmenancy You are welcome. :)

  • Thanks so much for your crochet videos Teresa! I often refer friends to your channel!

  • I like this video but It is a bit long 35 minutes but it was worth it.

  • I love your videos. I find that I will only watch ones posted by you as they are easy to follow. Great videos, I have a learned a lot from you.

  • Easy to understand. THX for the great lesson.

  • All of your videos are so wonderful. I love learning from you.

  • @osunbemi Thank you, I appreciate it.

  • hi im new to this and i just got a book to start learning crochet. do you think it will take me long to learn how to make a scarf? that is mainly what i want to make with this art.

  • Hey Teresa! im just wondering where you got the yarn that you used to show us an example of the stich not the pink one the brown purple pink and blue one its so beautiful

  • You make this so much simpler to understand than I thought it would be. I was really a bit scared to try this stitch because it looked a bit more complicated than I was willing to try. I'm glad I found this video. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make crochet more accessible to everyone!!

  • @laceyj1204 You are welcome. I appreciate the comment. :)

  • Hi Teresa! There is a flower scarf that i found online, but i can not figure out the way the flowers are made, i am kind of a begginer, is it any chance to send you the picture of the scarf, mayby you could make tutorial on it?

  • Would this style work for a baby blanket?

  • @BelleStarr80 It would be a nice and toasty warm baby blanket but it will be very time consuming and take a lot of yarn

  • Are there written instructions for this?

  • Your tutorial on the Crocodile Stitch is the best one I have found after much searching. Thank you SO much for making it easy to understand with the ability to crochet-along-with-you to learn this stitch. Much appreciated, Teresa. Thanks again. Debb :)

  • @debbwin Thank you very much.

  • Thank you Teresa!

  • Thank you for the wonderful informative videos! I have wanted to learn the crocodile stitch for quite some time. You do a great job explaining & demonstrating how to use different techniques. I'm sure once I get this perfected I'll be learning many more from you! I am from a small Illinois town without a lot of access to new techniques. I really appreciate your videos! Thank you, Teena Renken jtrenken@yahoo.com

  • @Jtrenken Thank you Teena. I have over 800 tutorials posted, each unique content in one video.

  • I am a beginner....your lessons are easy to understand, well photographed, and I'm learning a lot! So much to learn, so many stitches! I would like to know what brand of hook you are using? I live in a tiny mountain town, no crochet supplies here. I have to surf the internet to find out anything I'm learning in the crochet world. Thanks.

  • muchas felicidades teje usted muy bonito le envio un abrazo!! gracias por compartirlo..

  • 11 dislikes? Really? People are dumb, they dislike just to DISLIKE no other reason. TWO THUMBS FROM ME!!! LOVE IT!!!

  • how many skeins do you need to do a scarf that ends near the waist..or should i say yards? lol

  • @staci369 I would estimate 600-1000 yards.

  • Hi. Thanks Taressa for video. I just want to know that how to do decrease and increase with this stitch??

  • I really like this stitch....gonna try it next. Thanks!

  • ure a awesome...♥!!!

  • @mayi88730 Thank you.

  • Teresa. One more BIG thank you for your videos....... i followed your instructions and made this scarf and it looks great.. THANKS AGAIN.

  • @EvaIoannou1 I appreciate the comment, thank you.

  • Teresa, I have wanted to learn this stitch. Watching your tutorial makes it very simple to learn. Thanks I am confident I can do this now.

  • Love, Love, LOVE,your videos. My project list just keeps growing............. :)

  • The one I saw was a gift to our host..we all swooned over it.

  • When you reach the end of the first row of crocodile stitches, it is unclear to me in the video where you do the place the end stitch. Is it through the post or around the post before you turn to start the next row?

  • OMG..was at a jewelry party THIS Saturday saw THIS scarf and here it is...YYYYAAAAYYY me!!!

  • @Kickrocksproductions Were they selling it?

  • Hey Teresa I have a question:

I noticed that most of my spades when working on the crocodile stitch come out kinda slanted toward the upper right (I'm right handed.) Do you have any suggestions on how to remedy this?

  • @Foxmouse I am wondering if you crochet tight? Try working looser stitches so the stitches can move freely.

  • @tjw1963 Hmm, alright I'll give adjusting my yarn tension a try. Perhaps working with a larger hook when I start a new project as well. Thank you! :3

  • I want to make this so bad! im going to work my way up to this. I'm like super beginner, but you broke it down to a point that i know once i get my stitching down i will deff be able to do this. Thanks for taking time out of your day to teach us! =D

  • @fannyg08 I will send you the beginner playlist. Once you get the hang of the basic stitches, this scarf will be easy.

  • thank you for taking the time to explain the process in full detail.

  • @imtoohungry05 You are welcome.

  • Look, I love learning new stuff otr seeing variations. But the length of this video is too TOO long. I'm not going after this stitich if I am a novice and I certainly DO NOT NEED to watch EVERY SINGLE! chain stitch being made. That's just wasting my time. Tighten this up. I watched for 3 minutees and quite this video--you LOST your audience. Get to the point or break it down to sections. not spending more time here.

  • hi teresa...love, love your tutorials, but i have tried to get a few of the patterns like i have in the past and they are just all garbled, what do i do to get the pattersn that go with your videos? Thanks!!

  • Hi Theresa, thanks for this tutorial. Regards.

  • @mafaldareina I am pleased that you like it. You are welcome.

  • thank you so much for all of your videos!

  • @anticubitalpossae You are welcome.

  • This is awsome thanks so much

  • This video is much faster, compared to the other ones you made. And, I know this is because this is a more advanced stitch, with all the twists and turns. But, in my opinion, you should've slowed down in order to show which holes you used because I had to rewind, fast forward, and pause so many times in order to see. But, this is my first learning to do this stitch, and the scarf so far is coming out very well. I'm getting skilled because of you. Thanks. :D

  • @xAnGiieex33 I will keep your thoughts in mind for future tutorials that are more advanced.

  • where did u get the cover for ur needle

  • @jgyrljeans4jesus It is a pencil grip from Walmart

  • Teresa you are the bomb.com!!! Thanks for sharing this tutorial. I learn so many new stitches from you :O)

  • @artsy282 Thank you very much. I appreciate the comment.

  • Thanks so much, even those I've been crocheting for years, I could not figure this stitch out. You are awesome for sharing!!

  • @psychdmom You are welcome. Glad you like it.

  • Do you have the instructions for this in text? Or a pattern text? Thank you so much!

  • If I wanted to make a scarf wider than 20 chains across, how many more chains would I have to crochet. Lets say that I wanted to have five sets of crocodile stitches on the first row and six on the second, is there a multiple of chains that should be used? For instance should I chain in multiples of two, three, etc. etc.

    Thanks.

  • @goulaboy69 once you have chained 20, all together you will have 21 chains if you include the first chain that was on the hook at the beginning, which in most cases isnt counted as a chain. anyway, so if you you wanted to add on one more making it 4 sets of crocodile stitches, just chain 3, and if you want 5 sets, add on another three chains. hope this helps, i only just figured it out now. :)

  • I wish people who make these tutorials does not act like we are crochet noobs, this is a more skilled stich, we know how to make a chain!

  • THANKS!! i was working on a pattern and getting discouraged because of this stitch - you just showed me what I was doing wrong. :)

  • How can we do increases and decreases in crocodile stitch?

  • @LourduSoujanya I do have a crocodile stitch square, which show increasing. Type in crocodile stitch crochet geek and it will come up.

  • love love love this!! I hope I can do this!!!!

  • Dear Teresa

i learned crocheting watching your wonderful videos. and this pattern is too good. can u upload a video on making poncho...

  • You are awesome! You make it look so easy yet I can only imagine how difficult it must be having a camera in the way. Thank you and keep up the wonderful work.

  • Teresa,

Thank you so much for your tutorial! I actually bought the crocodile pattern from Annie's attic and really didn't understand the instructions. Thank you for making it so clear!

  • @MommaFogle You are welcome. I appreciate the comment.

  • Teresa, thank you so much for your tutorial. It was very well put together, easy to follow and perfectly paced to crochet along with. You are a true asset to the crochet community!

  • I would love to know where you got your crochet hook wrapping that helps to relax your fingerd during crocheting...THX!

  • I was wondering,, sometimes you have written instructions. Do you have them for this? I wanted to teach someone else, and just thought they would help! :)

  • Hello Teresa! I have been looking all over for patterns for this stitch! You show it very well, and is easy to follow! Now i just need to figure out the counts for other things! I'll admit, i Hate paying for patterns. I ain't sellin stuff, just making for friends! Thanks! It's really an easy stitch!

  • Wow! This is such a cool stitch and you are an excellent teacher - thank you!

  • thxx very much u'r the best :)

  • another great tutorial - thank you Teresa!

  • @janetmarston Glad you like it, thank you. :)

  • another great tutorial - ahank you Teresa!

  • Do you have the written out instructions for the Crocodile Scale Stitch? I like to print out the written instruction so that I can carry it with me when i am out and about so I always have my project ready to work on. Thank you!

  • If you wanted to do the length first, what would be the multiple for the chain?

  • Comment removed

  • where can i buy a hook like that in the uk??? Thanks

  • @sweepyeyes This is a modified crochet using pencil grips. Do you have pencil grips in the UK?

  • @tjw1963 Hello...no not that kind, they look like neoprene & i can only find plastic ones& all sorts of glittery ones, but the neoprene would make a perfect grip i have scoured the internet and im unable to find them anywhere! They seem to be the tiny dumpy ones & i think that would hinder rather than help, Im going to my local craft shop this morning & im hoping she can help me if not the stationers to see what they can track down for me, i'll let you know how i get on, thanks for your reply

  • @sweepyeyes Some of our American crochet hook companies make the hard solid clear crochet hooks. I don't know if they are permanent of something they were experimenting with.

  • rubbish.

  • so easy and structured. i think this is why as a man i absolutely love crochet.

  • Looks hard to make while it's so easy ,, awesome ^.^

  • @ICeeICeBerG There are a lot of crochet stitches like that, which makes it fun.

  • How lovely a bag would look with this stitch! Excellent work Teresa! God bless you.

  • @mitruper I have seen a few bags made with this stitch and they are beautiful! Thank you! Please share a picture when you complete your bag.

  • Great job. I was doing ok with the actual stitch but couldn't figure out how to do the next foundations rows without making a triangle! LOL You do a great job of explaining things and by alternating 2 dc's and 1 dc across, everything because MUCH more clear! Thank you!

  • @mkenner515 I am glad you found it useful. Thank you!

  • Thank you so much , Theresa sensei. I made it *hugs*

  • Thank you so much Theresa-sensei *hugs You help me alot :) God Bless You :)

  • @seawaterwitch Hugs back to you! Thank you!

  • omg! im soo happy! I got it!! thanks!!!

I really love this stich! :)

  • @mrsliliana I am glad you got it. Sometimes it takes practicing over and over until you get it. That is part of the learning process!

  • I've notice that the editing is a little messed up in minut 3 - 42

  • Can you explain a little more clear please? please? please?????

  • in spanish please!!!!!

  • I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YOUR WORK!!! YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!! <3

  • @MiiViiDaEreSTu Thank you!

  • Hi,

I see what pandk1n00 is talking about. From time code3:42 to 5:42, the video seems to be from later in the post, as you can see there are several rows already worked.

  • @OLEF641 I intentionally did it that way. It says at the top of the segment that it is "How to work the stitch". The whole tutorial is how to work the stitch.

  • @ocala99 I sent you the invite and will remove your comment.

  • @ocala99

I don't think they got that comment about not posting. :/

  • @mcrdsd2008 My YouTube comments are not on moderation so they are going to automatically publish

  • I finally got it! Thank you so much! This is the only video I found that made sense!! :)

  • @pandk1n00 You are welcome! This is one of those that looks harder than what it really is.
