  • Is it just my computer or did the sound go in and out for a couple of times?

  • its the vid

  • I do BJJ so it's very useful to learn proper takedown form from a good wrestling coach.

  • try to think of takedowns as a part of your bjj. just like you train passing the guard once a week or however often you should also train takedowns.

  • So does BJJ not train on takedowns? I know squat about bjj

  • really depends on the school and the instructors, the takedowns in pure brazilian jiu jitsu schools tend to be more limited but most high level jiu jitsu guys these days crosstrain wrestling and/or judo.

  • ive never taken a bjj class but i did a grappling tourney and dominated a few kids because i could score takedown after takedown and my wrestling carried me through to chokes and armbaars. (which are the only moves i know how to do really) haha. If you can be good at wrestling and BJJ youll be sick.

  • A good wrestler will definatly do well in the lower level tourneys, the kid getting taken down won't know how to play guard well enough to really win, but once you hit purple and brown belts you're starting to get into dangerous ground, these guys can do judo and wrestling and will be harder to take down, if you do take them down you might well get subbed right away or they'll get you later. In short wrestling is really great for BJJ.
