The "Move Over Law" is a ridiculous law that needs to be repealed. The law doesn't serve in the interest of public safety, but merely scapegoats motorists with excessive fines. If you know of any organization that is working to repeal this terrible "Move Over Law," please let me know. Thank you.
did you watch this video. you know..the part where the really big truck didn't move over and crashed..the part where the guy driving probably died. If you have a problem getting tickets then learn how to drive safely and follow the law.
When driving a truck , it is a very good idea to discreatly hire a lawyer who is completely neutral to the employer , as employers will try to sneak in an "on staff" professional who will claim to have legal knowledge , but won't legally be a lawyer. Another trick employers play with. Advocates of law also exist that will take you down that road to emptiness through their employment with your employer. Meanwhile , they can be monitored by outside sources and held accountable by law.
On the subject of employers , it is presently not really considered a crime to demand that a worker drive , even though the employer was legitimately informed that the driver was not legally able to perform their job as a result of being tired. When you fall asleep behind the wheel , there is no warning , nor is there any gaurantee that you will snap back from falling asleep in time to pull off of the road. Every driver reacts differently when they black out from lack of sleep.
It is common practice (even taught by employers) , for dispatchers to threaten these drivers on a daily basis with dismissal for refusing to drive illegally. Moreover , when and if an employer is brought before a court for this minor infraction , they are given a warning or less. No charges are laid against the employer , nor do they pay the dismissed employee anything as a result even if found to be guilty. Even though the company insurance is being legally compromised with proof thereof.
Any good truck driver would have allowed for his/her vehicle being wider and heavier in that situation and passed with caution and care. I usually also move to the left of my lane when I can't move over , just to be sure that nobody opens up their driver's side door without looking. Unfortunately defensive driving includes allowing for stupid drivers as well. Stopping for an hour to argue about having a near miss is not worth the time , while moving over a bit and slowing down gets you by.
Just imagine what these drivers would be like if they didn't fill out a logbook , or they simply listened to everything that any employer demanded. For example : driving for 2 days straight without rest at all. Or working 20 straight hours. There are many , many stupid employers out there who will fire you without pay (including owed money) , if you refuse to work when work is available or ready. They too should be reported for the very same reason. They could kill someone with power.
PLEASE MOVE OVER FOR WRECKER OPERATORS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO!
Our Jobs for Public Service and Public Safety are Just as important as those by the Police and Highway Patrol ~ And we want to live to go home at the end of our shift as well.
Alot of these accidents that the move over law tries to prevent are caused by the officers pulling people over for something trivial like 10-15 mph over. These accidents are the officers fault. The move over law actually causes more danger for drivers having to change lanes quickly. This move over law is just others imposing their opinion and not accepting the risks associated with there jobs and causing more dangerous situations for the rest of us on the road. Lets repeal the move over law!
The Move over Law takes advantage of uneducated citizens with EXORBENT fines it cost me $715.00 tell me how that is fair????Is the officers life worth more than mine if I have to put myself at risk by changing lanes?? THIS IS A ONE SIDED LAW!!!!
True , you should be aware that there is a hazard beside you , in your lane if you can't move over you should slow down about 10mph at least. Although it is common sense and a courtesy to the officer in this case , I think the truck driver simply fell asleep while driving. It looked like a very uncontrolled sideswipe followed by an uncontrolled rolling of the straight truck. Consistant with there not being any driver at the controls.
1:05 you could miss it; it was quick !

I think we all agree the charge for doing something like this should be like a year in jail.
