@k4n31985 sure, i would say you're right in that the boxer caught the thug's attention firstly with something said, but i believe he still sucker punched the guy. a sucker punch means in essence to punch a person suddenly without warning, and this can certainly still be the case in the situation of one or both having a few words. but that's my 2 cents worth.

@scdefion well, it's just that the big ado about the ex-boxer means really nothing, given the fact that it was a good ol' sucker punch--any one of my buddies down at the bar (including me) could've easily done the same thing. so who cares if it was an ex-boxer. but fahgeddaboudit; your point is well taken. if i may add, reality is not always so simple--maybe the slugger was mentally ill. it really would be better if he were arrested and looked into--maybe he & future behavior could be helped.

@scdefion mental illness isn't always clear cut, for even if it is the case, it can still come down to degrees, meaning unfettered free will and moral responsibility still intact. of course, regardless of the illness issue, the man still ought to have been arrested and put in the slammer for numerous assaults on innocent people. but yes, he got a good taste of his own medicine--maybe that'll help make him think twice the next time he's feeling strong & nasty. anyway, take er easy.
