hey... I found that you also get a much more dense sound when you also use the bass drum when you hit the snare harder during the opening of the song... it defines the sound a bit better
You are one of only a few people that I have seen who keeps the 16th notes constant on the snare, most people stop when the guitars come in but in fact you are correct the 16th's keep going for pretty much the entire song the link in this comment is to a very good quality version of rock and roll where you can see him playing it that way
hey man i was wondering if you can make a video breaking down the end/outro solo where you go balls. I know how to do the studio but u play the live version which i like much better
I've done my fair share (vast amounts) of Bonham research since I started practicing drums seriously the last two years and you by far nail Bonham techniques the best out of anyone I've seen.
@ultrakool only1bonemans version is right for the studio version, but this guy is not playing the studio he is playing the live which sounds right on and in my opinion is more impressive
It's a Ludwig 5x14 Acrolite. It's the same shell as a Supraphonic, but 8 lugged, and it has a sparkle coating on it that brings the ringing in just a little bit. You can find them on Ebay really cheap all day long.
that ending is fantastic!!

The snare plays even through the actual beat? I was unaware of that...
Great version, sounds authentic.

Yes-there were times he played just the 2 and 4 but on the studio recording and in most live shows he played the 8ths on the snare as well.
Type Zeppelin Knebworth Rock Roll in to the UTUBE search, and you'll see Bonham playing the 8ths..
