  • I read about this YAMAHA Motif Rack XS is working/integrated as a plugin only for Cubase. I's a Logic user. can I find a way to open this as vst in Logic just like in Cubase? thanx in advance!

  • @LiCKERiSHmedia I guess yes because vst is a standard and does not depend on OS or DAW, but I cannot confirm as I don't have Logic any more. What I see in yamahasynth site download section is that all drivers and softs are available for Mac

    - USB MIDI driver

    - VST Editor

    - Studio Manager

Note that you need the optional Firewire interface if you don't want to deal with analog audio input.

  • Wow what a nice easy setting dat is,i wanna have mine just like when i get my lil studio.

  • hey can u use a MIDI keyboard for this?

  • @drummingtrumpeteer69 - Yes, I mostly use it without a computer, only via a MIDI keyboard. When the computer is turned on, the MIDI connection is automatically cut and replaced by the USB connection.

  • @scarcitube wait can you use the sounds from the module and put them into the DAW?

  • @drummingtrumpeteer69 Yes via an audio cable if you have an audio card, but the best solution is to buy the optional FireWire interface in order to transfer audio from the Motif Rack to multple audio tracks in your DAW without lossing audio quality.

  • @scarcitube Is it the same with ableton live 8?

  • can you use the motif xs also on logic8 WITH the editor software as well?

  • @sonicfire1980 Hi, for the Motif Rack XS you can download drivers and editor software for PC and Mac. This allows the Motif Rack XS to behave like any other software plugin in Lolgic. Synchronization between software and hardware is transparent and automatic.

  • @scarcitube thanks very much!! :)

  • The best MOTIF Composition in Youtube.....

  • very bad compo

  • How do i use the motif xs rack in fl studio?

  • @901dagr8t Hi, I don't know exactly fl studio (only tested one day a "borrowed" version). But as for any DAW software, after installing the yamaha driver and motif editor software, you will find the motif MIDI ports in your list of midi ports and a new virtual instrument in your list of VST instrument plugins. You can than use a MIDI (or USB) keyboard to play and record the Motif sounds.

  • the violin sound ..sucks very far from the realitty.. ...

  • hey buddy i got a question. How to connect the motif rack to my computer? Well, via usb or firewire thats clear , but how to get the sounds into my computer? Via audiocable in my interface? Oo

  • @MeMobeatz Hi, To get audio into your computer, you have two possibilities:1: Audio out of the Motif Rack connected to audio in of your sound card (all channels in one stereo audio track). 2: Using the optional Firewire card, you connect it to the firewire port of your (firewire enabled) audio card. In this case, you can separate audio channels in your DAW software. Thanx for the comment.

  • Hi,

I have an m-audio oxygen midi controller. It only has a usb-midi interface, not the regular 5-pin midi interface.

My question to you is, will I be able to connect my oxygen keyboard directly to the motif xs rack?

    btw, I love the song.

    Regards,

    Ari

  • @arimitrachak Hi, Thanks for the comment. Both midi controller and midi sound module are considered as USB peripherals and need a computer (and drivers) to work together. Direct connection is possible only using a MIDI cable. You will probably need to replace your controller with a more high-end one.

  • so you can record midi notation from the rack into a daw then quantize and edit the notation?

  • @uralumkinman Yes, when used via the provided software plugin, Motif Rack XS behaves like any other vitual instrument in the daw.

  • @scarcitube hey thanks, amazing, i think i will invest in one some day

  • Very nice performance!

I'm thinking to buy a rack xs!

can you please tell me it will be possible to perform with the xs rack (real time via midi keyboard with the arpegiator (styles) and in the same time to play solo (piano or another instrument?)

    Thanks for your help.

  • @sofiaautosale Hello, yes this is possible to play on a keyboard and in the same time use the Motif Rack to play arpeggios in "multi" mode. You can see en example in my last upload "Saint-Preux Converto pour une voix revisited" where I use harpsichord and strings on the keyboard and a standard preset on the Motif Racke XS for arpeggios and drums. Go for the Motif, currently there is nothing better in rack format.

  • Hey how did you record the sounds from the rack so that you could edit them in you DAW???

  • @spicyhot231 I used MIDI tracks to record (and edit) the notes using my MIDI keyboard, than, while playing back the notes, I recorded (mix-down) the audio outoput of the Motif Rack into a unique audio track in order to get a wav file. Does anyone know a more standard process ?

  • Nicee!

  • reminds me, from russia with love PS2. nice

  • reminds me, from russia with love PS2. nice

  • r those guitars from the motif or real guitar?

  • Hi, this is 100% motif rack xs generated audio

  • @scarcitube i have to ask you what guitar patches did you use? is it in the multi mode?

  • @babar141 Hello, I use a sound named "Two Acoustics" (with a lot of reverb). As I know, all sounds are available in both "voice" and "multi" mode.

  • Nice motif production... :-)

  • now that's what i call full use of motif capabilities.

  • amazing!

  • nice composition. :)
