I knew about it, even as a 5 year old in 1984....the early episodes had AWFUL editing. Like in the pilot when Yurak threw his sword when sending the slave to their cells....he's back with the sword a split second later, plus all the 'sleeping spells', 'stun guns', 'robots', and 'fruit juice in flasks' SCREAMED censorship.

Go Lion is the REAL deal. Voltron's watered-down victim of 1980's censorship.

They believed any mention of death, Japanese names, English-sounding fantasy names they did not make up themselves, music already written, and original plot to be satanic. @TravisInWonderland Part 2 99% of the original anime is PG-rated, and the "bloodbath" comes and goes so quickly, it is lost in the grand scheme of things. The ONE episode that is all about people being chopped up could easily have been cut. The dub team did not edit Golion for violence with artistic integrity, and common sense, in mind. They did it with the poor set of values that dubbers had approached all Japanese anime with for years. Shame on them.

1:12 I know the destruction of Castle Gradam was possibly a dream sequence, but I didn't see a clip of Fala (Allura) in the dream explosion getting killed with Kogane (Keith), Kurogane (Lance), Suzuishi (Pidge), and Seido (Hunk). I think that dream sequence was done after Shirogane (Sven) died, so I'm sure Fala was piloting the Blue Lion, but why didn't it show in the clip, or was it cut out?

Just bought all three volumes today. And your right the violence isn't as bad as some people made it out to be but the story is MUCH more powerful and makes sence. Also combined running time is over 20 hours and have more episodes then Voltron. Just getting past disk one volume one now...and now we now what happened to the orginal piolt the princess replaced.

I SO agree and almost laughed, as it DOES seem like the GoLion male characters are always seemingly yelling at each other. *lol*

I had seen that a few years ago and I love Voltron: Defender of the Universe so much, I almost considered ordering onlnie a Region-free player (as I only still buy Region-1 NTSC titles; mostly fantasy, stand up comedy and tons of Horror) and I had wanted it.
