@lilnate4242 It means you're holding it much nearer to the centre of mass. It's then easier to get the best out of gut strings (I find) - perhaps because they tend to be more reluctant to speak cleanly than modern/metal strings.
A supreme effort and an excellent reflection of the spindly, complex ways of Baroque music. I congratulate you on an excellent interpretation of this golden music!
There are editions of Domenico Gabrielli (manuscripts and manuscript-based) in shops & libraries, but of cause there's much less notes than I play, 'cause I composed diminutions and other things that were improvized individually by performers at that times.
I've experimented with a few ideas about octaves, such as cadences, i.e. D, D (octave lower) --> G. I've found it a little more 'subtle' to 'whisper' the second D, as you've already stated that harmonic subject the first time.
Hi! I like your work... it showed me new possibilities in interpreting the piece. I've done a recording of the fifth ricercar, if you have a spare moment please take a look... Nice to see another Gabrielli video on Youtube!
do you know other pieces that require C-G-d-g scordatura (apart from Bach V, obviously)?

@hypsophilus
All Domenico Gabrielli works. That was common at his times. He wrote first good music for cello. The instrument was bigger than modern cello

Excelent.
I recently saw a pundit claim that YouTube was "all stolen content". I beg to differ.
