  • Look, it is a rip-off of BR. Even lawyers have stated that there is a significant enough case for the intellectual property owner of BR to sue Suzanne Collins. I'm not even joking. Also I am surprised that BR never came out on DVD in the US. It came out in the UK almost right away and I have owned it for years and made a lot of my friends watch it too.

  • hunger gamee was definetly better... less gore, but my favorite!!!!

  • BR steals the show. HG is cashing in on twilight fans.

  • Very good video! I haven't read the BR book, but I've seen the movie twice, and I'm about to read the HG a second time (before I watch the movie). I agree with you that BR is more realistic and deep, but I personally like the HG better. It's less professional, and I think the romance is silly, but 1, I'm a huge fan of fantasy and sci-fi. 2, I really enjoyed the whole TV-show thing with preparations and interviews. 3, I'm OK with gore in movies (eg. the Walking Dead) but BR makes me feel sick.

  • Hunger Games science fiction? Pff, they super underplayed that. The technology was more convient such as force fields to keep them in place and hovercrafts, but nothing more really.

  • . Hunger Games is set is post apocalyptic future where they have alien technology. And the games are fare as they are gonna get. The richer districts have volenteers. Cato, Clove, Glimmer, and Marvel voluntary went in. And also you must remember that there are kids like Rue and Petta who dont want to kill...oh and foxface. And they have to. The kids arent evil. they want to survive and bring honor and glory to there family.

  • sorry to keep bothering you but deaths are off page because the story is told from Katnisses view ONLY, the movie is set to fix it giving a short backstory to each of them

  • in the hunger games they are injected with a tracker device to track where they are

  • @weaknessx100 there are collars that track the kids in BR. Same concept (not exactly sure what I said lol)

  • i think ur the only girl youtuber that doesnt use sexuality for views...i <3 u (:

  • @YunGGenO77 um, thanks! lol I just am me and I don't try and put up a front.

  • "Is evil, is bad" I'll take my three-dimensional, near psychotic, highschoolers thank you very much. I think your perspective of both books is very accurate. Very well done. I kind of think Battle Royale understood it's purpose better. We watch nearly a holocaust situation play out as these people might hear rumors of The Program and Battle Royale, but think it is exactly that. This drastic turn of events is what tests men's souls and the violence didn't take, but supplemented each death.

  • Jeezz mabe the first hunger games bookis slightly kind like battle royale but catching fire and mockingjay are 100% nothing like it

  • thanks for the video i liked the hunger games so ill try battle royale :)

  • p.s the reason bella is so unrealisticaly serious and mature is because she is like 40.mayer cannot write a 17 year old.thats why the host was so much better

  • Ok so you should really read the manga. The writer of the book even said that the manga was as good, but in a different way.you are only getting about 1/16 of the story in the book, seriously. Its amazing.download them if you would rather cheak before you buy, then buy them if they are worth it.also they are far more explicit, dear god.and there is 15 of them! i read like 5 in a night one time.I have also read hunger games, its different and not as good.but i still liked it

  • @ripedreality i'm a complete manga beginner, I've never read one! Maybe I'll start with these, I've been thinking about it for a while

  • @amandapearl2books do it.remember to read it backwards though, back to front, top left to bottom right.thats the way manga are read.i dont know if you will find it on a legal manga site.I bought some of them in forbidden planet, but they are dear.they are on the pirate bay anyway if you dont have the money at the mo

  • @ripedreality oh no I wouldn't download them. I'll check out amazon or ebay, and there's a comic book store near my house that may be able to help me out.

  • @amandapearl2books good one, since anime and manga industry is dieing world wide, its good to help out.by the way the film condemed is weirdly like these with the plot too.but its not very good of a film.

  • @ripedreality die nope not really xD

  • @rings16 what?

  • I also kind of get what you were saying about Katniss and Peeta's relationship not being very realistic but they have to really play it up for the cameras. That's how they survive while in Battle Royale, the romance is real and something that the kids already had. They aren't using it to survive. In my opinion, BR got a little boring and rambly but it was still a really great book. I prefer Hunger Games though because I guess I just liked the characters and story better than BR. :)

  • @SoulTribute17 yeah I see that. I think they would have been a lot different if people hadn't been watching, like in BR.

  • @Nemsault Wow, clever way to say one thing using a whole bunch of words to make it sound like you're saying more. Really, it's clever. But seriously, they may both have kids fighting to the death because of a controlling government but the backstories are two different things. The characters are also completely different. There are too many differences to say that she plagiarized. Please, they're both terrific books. I love them both!

  • I don't think Suzanne Collins could copy Battle Royale because obviously their two different nationalities so How could Suzanne find about Battle Royale?

  • @justice2016 really? Last time I checked I was American and I found out about Battle Royale.

  • @justice2016 Maybe because the book has been released in the United States for years, and the Manga also.

  • Nice video review, very well done.

  • I don't want to be a rude BR fan but it both film and novel it clearly states that it is a form of punishment because that government started to fear the children after an insane increase in gang violence

  • @MyKeyMoonShine Very sensible of you. They are both amazing stories in their own way!

  • @jendarjen Finally someone who understands!!

@kwak76 Honestly, there's no way for you to prove that she did. Like I said, the fight to the death thing was used long before Battle Royale so quit thinking that you know everything.

  • @SoulTribute17 No its the fight to the death thing ,with a corrupt government, in a disutopian future, involving children in a locked enclosed area, for the publics pleasure, to use as a form of fear to prevent rebellion. That is too many factors to overlook; she ripped off battle royale and she is to much of a bitch to say it. Yea we can not proven that the Chinese iped ripped off apples Ipad maybe they figured it out all on their own.... ya bullshit is bullshit she is a plagiarizer.

  • Love this review and comparison- very straightforward, mature and informative. Forwarding to my friends.

As for Peeta and Katness not acting like 15 year olds- I agree with you, but I thought this was a result of living in a world, dealing with starvation day to day, where there was simply no time for childhood. You had to grow up fast, if you survived at all. Made me think of kids living in war zones today.

  • @jendarjen good point. I agree with that, good perspective.

  • Suzanne Collins claim that she never heard of Battle Royale . I call bullshit on that. She might of change some aspect of it but I think I would respect her more if admitted the truth.

  • @kwak76 always give credit where credit's due :). I have read Battle Royale and when a friend told me about The hunger Games I immediately thought it was a mistranslation, same plot, same games. too similar not to compare with little differences that made them maybe not Equals but Parallels. I will eventually read THG but with the grudge that author never admitted what influenced her story the most.

  • @kwak76 there is alot more to hunger games. battle royale is just randon killing

  • @orangehaircow11 If your talking about the sequels to her book it probably is. But if you read the Battle royale it's more than just random killing. It's the psychological aspect of it that I think the Hunger game lacks. Hunger Games was written for young adults but Battle royale is more raw and gritty. To some extent Battle Royale is maybe the closest to what psychological challenges a classmate will deal with in killing each other.

  • @kwak76 Well i guess more gore satisfies your emo needs. but sophisticated people like meaning to books.

  • Yeah wouldn't call it a rip off they are very different the hunger games obviously uses the death arena idea's from like old mythology but in a futuristic setting quite clever in my opinion.

Battle Royale is very different but it is amazing read it or watch the movie they are both brilliant.

  • @amandapearl2books Haha, yes we do. I haven't actually seen the Battle Royale movie, I've only read the book. In the book it kind of seemed like expierimental reasons were what was producing the government control...haha i dont know it's kind of hard to explain. I hope I didn't make the impression that I didn't like Battle Royale because I do! I really do but I also love Hunger Games. It just irritates me that two things I love are being turned against eachother.. You know what I mean?

  • @SoulTribute17 Don't think they're against eachother. It's the HG fans that are going off reading BR to prove a silly point (like 'SEE IT'S NOT A COPY, I READ IT AND IT SUCKS!). My only problem with HG (think it's an ok series), is it being advertised on magazines/reviews as 'original story', ' it's own genre' 'unlike anything you have seen before'. I'm like 'yeah....I read that same story not long ago, it's called BR'. I also bet if the same story came out AGAIN , HG fans would go nuts.

  • @amandapearl2books Well, kind of, In Battle Royale is more for expierimental reasons...they're both great stories in their own way though! I'm not trying to bring Battle Royale down or anything I'm just trying to say we don't need to start all this drama. And yes, there are rude fans on both sides...I just wish we could all be nice to eachother.

  • @SoulTribute17 dude, preach to the choir! lol we all need to be nicer on the internet...but with BR are you talking movie or book? In movie I'd say yes it is more of an experiment, but in the book to me it was more of a government control thing. It's kind of a picky, just wondering.

  • @BRandHGAreAwesome exactly! I love them both for different reasons :) and ps your user name is totes awesome :)

  • (continued 2) to the districts for rebelling against the capitol.

Face it, you're fighting a losing battle here. The Hunger Games did not plagiarize. Simple as that. You aren't going to get Battle Royale any more popular by starting this mindless shit, and you certainly aren't getting anyone to want to read the stupid book either! It may not be a stupid story, but since the fans of BR are being mean retards, people aren't going to want to read a book they like.

  • (Continued) was before Sheakspear's time. So if you want to play that game, then we might as well say Battle Royale plagiarized.

The only way Battle Royale and Hunger Games are alike, is a death arena!! They're both sci fi but in the Hunger Games, the technology is much more advanced and they have much more ways of killing the tributes. The reasons for them having these fight to the deaths are even different! Battle Royale's is for expierimentation reasons while the Hunger Games are punishment

  • @SoulTribute17 I would say that Battle Royale and The Hunger Games are both for government control....also yes there are some rude BR fans but there are also rude HG fans as well....

  • Great video:) It looks like you really understand both stories!:)

Now this is to Battle Royale fans who are claiming Suzanne Collins plagiarized BR. She didn't!!! The author of Battle Royale isn't the first person to use the Fight To the Death thing for your information. There were many things before that that had a death arena so if you want to claim the idea of that to one story, then it might as well go to the first person who did this which in case you were wondering...

  • @SoulTribute17 well said- unfortunately kidnapping people and watching the fight to death is a very old atrocity. The Romans did it, and I'm sure someone did before them.

  • @chesiregirl wanna go bitch/ huh? fucken piece of shit

  • @chesiregirl what th hel does it mater to you whT I think

  • @RaptorOfTheWest Yes but only the cornucopia was on an island the arena itself was a clock

  • The movie of Battle Royale was a bit cheesy and did not do the book justice. The movie was entertaining but not near the effect of the book. In the book you get inside the heads off all the characters and learn that they are all generally good kids put in a bad situation where in the movie the characters did not stick with you at all. the largest differance for me was kazuo/kiriyama's character. In the book he was the terminator due to a brain injury that made him feel no empathy. much scarier...

  • Cant we all jus agree that twilight sucks

  • @FayeChan01 Well actually in HG your not put on an island

  • @joshhutchersonpeeta In the second one they were placed on an island like area

  • Battle Royale is the best book I've ever read. Trust me. I've never read The Hunger Games, and I don't think I'll do it. I love Battle Royale, and I'm now reading it for the second time. But how the dghcdygfvydf can you finish it in two days!? =_= I use a lot more time... I'm not a reader, really xD

  • I love BR The manga was badass Amanda, It goes more in depth with some characters its really good. I'm a fan of BR i've read the manga and read (some) of the second Battle Royale manga they came out (which blew chunder) and saw the movie currently reading the book and loving it I could easily read BR in one day but i'm stretching it. The manga is really good you should check it out. (BE WARNED THE MANGA IS VERY! VERY! GORY! IT ALSO HAS "ADULT" SCENES NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART)

  • @lesterclaypool1 All authors take note! If you take ideas from other work, thats fine. Just for the love of God - tell the truth! List where you got your ideas. Thats what I would do, thats what author of Battle Royal did. Oh about your zombie story, you're right, you're using all the ideas from dawn of the dead (is it that one?). Yet don't worry, it's totally ok to steal others work without giving credit, in this new age. Thank Collins.

  • Comment removed

  • thank you for doing this I was thinking the same thing

  • Comment removed

  • Kattniss is not like bel, if you read she said she acted in love to get money witch haymich say do so ye bella is the same

  • Yet another asian movie/book butchered,it's obvious hunger games was inspired by battle royale. Hunger game fans read the books for both back to back and then tell me with a straight face that it's not a copy of battle royale.

  • @tmac20071 in hunger games defense battle royale writer koushun takami states he got inspiration from BR from lord of the flies and george orwells 1984. If you read the book it even has a front page homage line made by george orwell.

  • @tmac20071 hmmm, see to me it's more like The Running Man, which is a Stephen King's novel and later 1980s movies... or Lord of the Flies, The Longest Walk maybe even greek myth or gladiators btw fun fact the author of BR was inspired by Running Man and Lord of the Flies =D

  • @Sereneblaze Yes inspired, not copy and claim to never heard of but has the same story, same plot devices used. If she just would of said she had read the book and admitted she was in inspired by it, than most of us would not be complaining. Btw have you ever read both of the books? Re read my original post.

  • @tmac20071 Can you give an idea of how far back you've posted? Also admittedly no I have not read both books, I watched some of the BR movie, but couldn't stomach most of it. I read synopsis of the novel, manga & movie so I know what happens. But here's the thing, I've been in writing classes where two or more people came up with the same story and plot devices so I believe that can happen. That & if she did read BR I think she would have done a better job of explaining the HG world

  • @Sereneblaze I guess anything is possible but after reading both i can only come to one conclusion, that she must have known about battle royale.

  • Only heard about this "Hunger Games" book recently because newspapers sections were having orgasms over its becoming a movie, and I can say that from what I read about it it's a huge rip-off of Battle Royale. Of course, most people haven't seen Battle Royale so they think "OMG THIS IS SO ORIGINAL"

  • @chesiregirl Ok you need to notice hunger games and how it's not a frigid reality show

  • @joshhutchersonpeeta ...how does this have anything to do with what I just said? I need to "notice" the Hunger Games? What the hell does that mean? I notice them. I've read the first two books and plan on reading the third. The actual games themselves ARE a reality show set up by the Capitol. The book blatantly states that. And that's how "The Program" is in the English adaptation of the Battle Royale manga. However, that is not the case in the Battle Royale novel, and movie

  • Also movie story - INCEPTION -stolen from Paprika (2006) - Anime movie.

(*How book writers steal good ideas/claiming they invented them.)

If Ya ever Meet the lady who wrote the book - Engage in asking her if She Stole the idea from - Battle Royale.*

  • The Writer of the Book either Stole the ideas, "or/also it was mere coincidence mindset how hunger-games - it came after the Japanese - Battle Royale one first.

  • I hate HG... Although, in the manga of Battle Royale, it IS a reality TV show like the Hunger Games, but it's more like Survivor, where people from the outside cannot determine the fate of the people playing. Hunger Games is, like you said, more like American Idol. I try to get Hunger Games fans to like or at least recognize Battle Royale, and they freak out on me...geez. By the way, part of the reason the second was bad is because the first director died and his son finished the second.

  • i personally still think that the hunger games is still a copy of BR but just more adapted to the american culture of fantasy with little changes to make it different but overall i think they are both good i just wish that they would give more credit to BR damn americans lol

  • Similarities:

    > Corrupt Government forces teenagers to fight to the death to keep people in their place

    >Love Triangle between the main character, the best friend and the person the main character only really took notice of when the game began.

    >Albeit not in quite the same way, the main character is kept alive by someone who had won a previous game.(Haymitch & Kawada)

    >Final battle between the psycho that killed the most people

The list go's on and on

  • The hunger games is just a watered down version of battle royale. I read the hunger games and It never came close to providing the raw emotion and feeling that both the battle royale book, manga, and film did for me.

All these fanatical children fanngirls and boys for the hunger games need to be shown real literature

  • DONT EVEN COMPARE IT TO TWILIGHT!

  • @chewy89422 I'm not comparing the stories, I'm comparing the fandoms. People freak the shit out over hunger games AND twilight. you're case and point my friend

  • @chewy89422

OH YES* We Will *-Evilly laughing.* >Hence the love triangle TEAM (Enter idols Name) idea.

  • THE HUNGER GAMES IS NOT REALLLY FANTASY AT ALL! GET YOUR FACTS STRATE!!

  • @chewy89422 it's more fantasy/made up stuff than Battle Royale. The Hunger Games has a lot of technology and things that don't exist today, while Battle Royale only has modern day technology. That's what I meant by my comment saying The Hunger Games is more fantasy/sci-fi

  • @amandapearl2books

The Hunger Games is based in the future, like 2000 years later. that's why they have all that technology.

  • @BlueTwirl44 The actual number of years in the future is unspecified. We know it's at least 75 years in the future and probably safe to assume at least 100 because the capitol would have had to form before the first uprising. Anyway, that's not the real point of my comment. It could be 100 years in the future or 2000, the point is there are technologies that are so far removed from what we know today that it seems like fantasy.

  • @chewy89422 Look, bitch, don't get butthurt. Take a look at Hunger Games. Honestly, do you think those muttations and the invisible force fields and the ability to implant gems under someone's skin is realistic? No, dumbass. And it's spelled "straight".

  • @chewy89422 Oh and by the way. USA Today disagrees. Pick up a hardback copy of Catching Fire and look on the back of the dust cover, where they copied down praise for the first book. USA Today flat-out calls it Sci-Fi.

  • what the heck you dont nknow anything about the huger games so i dont know why your doing the video!!!

  • no its the ages 12 to 18 not 11 to 17

  • I liked Battle Royale more but the Hunger Games was also VERY good too. I actually cried really hard in Battle Royale when certain people, like the lovers, died. I got pissed at Kazuo and just felt more emotion with Battle Royale. The Hunger Games I cried and felt angry but not as much. Plus Battle Royale I read first so I just have it close to my heart.

  • You hear the American remake of Battle Royale was cancelled because the Hunger Games is coming out? But...a proper US release of the japanese BR movie will be coming out from AnchorBay

  • @NoMercyfortheGuilty I think an American remake would be a bad idea. I think that an official release of the original would be best.

  • Battle Royale is much more philosophic, with guil, sadness, and feeling accompanied each death, even when they killed the bad guy (especially in the manga). The Hunger Games, not so much. If anyone read the triology of The Hunger Games and think they were bloody, hah, you're in a a ride. They're nothing compare to the violence of Battle Royal the manga. I enjoyed both, but The Hunger Games trilogy were entertaining while Battle Royale left me deep in thoughts

  • @madisoned so? its not like suzanne collins was trying to make the hunger games like battle royale, geez

  • @chewy89422 exactly, which was my point! Battle Royale is food for thought, Hunger Games is for entertainment

  • @madisoned

Agreed, Hunger Games is cheap American consumerism, Battle Royale reflected every societies fear that they will do so wrong by their children that they will wake up one morning staring down the throat of the beast that is their youth's cultural revolution.

  • @lesterclaypool1 oh please stop talking like consumerism is an american invention. All u western cunts are guilty of blind consumerism much like all western nations have essentially ripped off virtually everything from either east asian or the middle east from technology, to religions, to ur own fucking languages! This book series is just one of thousands of rip offs.

  • @Ameer18

The Hunger Games was written for the American Market, that it took off in other markets was a whack of good luck.

At least we westerners don't take child brides and subjugate our women rationalized by the actions of a warlord that has been dead for 1400 years.

    Just Sayin'

  • @lesterclaypool1 its actually a good story comparing one another is pointless IMO

  • Fair video.

I've read BR novel, mangas and seen the movie. I've also read the Hunger Games.

Hunger Games is good and I enjoyed it but the similarities are certainly there.

I'm sure the Hunger Games movie will be brilliant.

  • at first i was going to agree then hate but then you showed that you know your hustory by mentioning lord of the flies, most dangerous game, and the running man (all great movie too)

  • The first HG book ripped off BR, the other two books did not. Why can't the fans just admit it? Not saying that HG is not a good book. Look: same world, danger zones, cross bows, romance between main players, psycho who kills for fun. Lottery based system, evil goverment, reality tv show, kids are put on island, all have back-packs with weapons, big brother/guide character that beat the last game. Main character protects weaker player. How can you say it did not copy? Even the logo's r alike.

  • @FayeChan01 Are you stupid? That idea has been done to death before. If you are gonna tell me that BR is original than you have 0 credibility.

  • @SuprSlowMo Can you read? I said more than ONE idea. I just made a list, take a look. I never said BR is 100% original, but there is no other book/manga that has ALL those ideas I mentioned. They were all created by the author, who also mentioned where he got his inspiration from. Collins never explains where she got all her ideas. It's my opinion anyway, I accept you have a different one.

  • @FayeChan01

I'm gonna write me a zombie story. Working title: Three dudes, a broad, a shopping mall, looters on motorbikes and a helicopter. I think that it will sell well.

  • @FayeChan01 BR was not televised, the win was but not the game, though in my opinion BR was better

  • @RaptorOfTheWest @FayeChan01 there was a fundamental difference there. Hunger Games was televised and thrown in their faces. BR was more of a mysterious threat. Lots of people lived their lives without ever being really affected by it. Sort of a "it will never happen to me" mentality.

  • @amandapearl2books Oh i did not notice.Thank you for pointing it out. :) It's really hard with BR, since the Manga, book, and movie - all add stuff! Each one changed things. So when a fan has only read the book, or watched the movie, or only read the manga, they will miss things unless they have read all 3. Which is also a problem since alot of people hate the manga (me!), or don't like the movie. It's easy to miss little things, i know I had a problem explaining this to a HG fan.

  • the best part of battle royale is when they realize that theyve been signaling the bad guy the whole time. "Now there are four students remaining. Can you hear me, Kiriyama, Kawada, Nanahara and Nakagawa? Wonderful work. I'm really proud of you all."

  • and the second actually made sense they were a bunch of rag tag kids who hate authority and they were perfect for the mission SPOILER ALERT they were chosen to kill shuya(the hero of the first movie) who became a terrorist with other kids and previous battle royale winners and in the end those few kids who survived helped shuya ita was really well done

  • i prefer battle royale it was realistic and each character had a reason for being there and had some character development for each person. it showed realistic characteristics like there are kids who would rather commit suicide than kill those who just want to survive and those who do it for fun. the movie was AMAZING i really liked the sequel though i thought it was great

  • I got half way through the second Hunger Games book and had to stop because it was getting soooo boring, predictable and ridiculous. I liked the first book, minus a few details that the author wanted to have meaning, but really had none at all. I've only ever seen the movie for Battle Royale, but I absolutely loved it and it's still one of my favorite films of all time.

  • Great review!! You did a really good job being fair and discussing both themes of each book!!

  • I think Battle Royale was a much better movie. Most times, American movies include romance into their movies, even though there seems to be a sort of romance in Battle Royale, they don't emphasize on it too much. One reason I like Battle Royale more, is because the darker feel. I am starting to dislike American directors more and more. I love that you prefer Battle Royale, so cool.

  • how is the hunger games fantasy there are know sparkly people and fairies??? and do not compare twilight and the hunger games!! haha romance in hunger games you got to be serious???

  • @mimi162757 are YOU serious?

  • @bailandoismylife yuperzzz lol!!

  • @mimi162757 lol xD

  • The Hunger Games is a rip-off of Battle Royale. And yes, I have watched Battle Royale and read The Hunger Games.

I'm not saying that THG sucks because it was kinda entertaining, but I will say that the super cheesy love triangle shit, the over-the-top teen angst and the happily-ever-after epilogue ruined the series for me.

  • Epic review! I have only been a Battle Royal fan so when I first heard of the Hunger Games I was shocked and a bit disgusted, not going to lie. But now I kind of want to give it a fair chance, read the book and all. Thank you very much for your review!

  • Just wanted to add that the second movie was not directed by Kinji Fukasaku(who died before most of the movie was done) and his son finished it, that might have been another reason why the movie was so different.

  • GREAT REVIEW. Wow, you are amazing! I had to watch the whole thing, cuz you explained it so well :3

  • @Kamokunz thanks! I really loved both books but I just feel very protective of the Battle Royale movie lol. I'm super excited about The Hunger Games movie!!!! can't wait :D

  • @Kamokunz I'm excited about the movie too! but I grew up reading Battle Royale Manga, so you know, it'll be interesting to see The Hunger Games for the first time, cuz I haven't read the book.

  • good review

  • my favorite was BR, but very good review ..... and your beautiful ... just saying

  • I rellay love both of the books :D

  • I really enjoyed both books. In The Hunger Games's defense, I don't think that the romance is really important. It is more of a strategic way to get ahead in the games, so she plays it up. Also, I think that the "villans" could be seen as heroes from the other side. In Katniss's mind, everyone is trying to kill her, thus everyone is a villan to her. At the same time, they are all in the same situation as her.

  • did you read mockingjay yet?? now that was really violent.

  • @ISoundzLikeThis yep I've read all of them and I liked mockingjay. I'm cool with voilence as long as it serves a purpose. What annnoyed me was how katniss seemed to lose a lot of her bad assery. She seemed weak and not in a I'm human and am not perfect way. That bothered me more than thw fighting.

  • @nnm3101 amen to that.

Also, the villains are a lot more realistic. The ones in the hunger games are all big burly evil dudes, and in Battle royale, they're really explained. Like mitsuko or whatever got raped and was bitter after that, and Kazuo is an amoral freak.

  • BATTLE ROYALE is a whole lot more interesing and violent than hunger games

  • Oh and might I add that I HAATTEE Twilight!! Katniss and Peeta are, as you say, "serious" because they have to be. I MEAN FOR CHIST SAKE THEY LIVE IN A TERRIBLY POOR PLACE EATING LIMITED FOOD AND THEN ARE TROWN INTO AN ARENA TO KILL OR BE KILLED. Edward and Bella are silly because they don't have a hard thin to do. Obviously you didn't read Hunger Games well, because their "romance" is to play to the audience.

  • @AlyssaMcKinneyy Edward and Bella being silly because they have nothing that horrible happening in their lives, but the Hunger Games has a lot of the same appeal as Twilight. It's targeted to the same audience and has a similar fan base. And when you say their romance is to play the audience, Peeta was never playing, and Katniss had some times of genuine affection. I can read and I understood what the author was writing perfectly. Maybe you should learn how to spell before you start

  • @amandapearl2books AHAHAHAH... I love how you get mad. *sigh*. I never said that you said that it was a rip off. I am also directed my comment to others. I think it is unfair to say that Hunger Games is geared towards Twilight audience. Twilight is not in MY selection of books, as it is very different from the Hunger Games. What do they have in common? Young adults? Yes. But so are many other books. So it is unfair to compare 2 books without many similarities. Just saying.

  • @AlyssaMcKinneyy Now, you say "OMG HG is a rip off of BR!! Ack! Now I hate HG!" -direct quote from you. Just saying. I'm not saying that the Twilight and The Hunger Games are similar stories, but I am noticing that there is very similar fan base with the same fan girl hype which I find to be annoying and takes away from the experience of the books. And I do think that Peeta and Katniss have a similar Romeo and Juliet complex like Edward and Bella. The whole I'd die if you'd die thing.

  • @AlyssaMcKinneyy But their romance grew into reality :)

  • I love Hunger Games. It's amazing. It's a good book. Battle Royale is OK too. Now, you say "OMG HG is a rip off of BR!! Ack! Now I hate HG!" Simply, no. BR is NOT an original idea either. Most nothing is anymore. HG is still a great plot and terrific writing so back off.

  • @AlyssaMcKinneyy first I don't think I ever said the Hunger Games was a rip off and that I hated it. I was just noting the differences and my opinions on them. An in regards to relationships, the characters in Battle Royale are in the same situation as Katniss and Peeta. They are thrown into a situation where they have to kill their best friends and have absolutely no idea it was coming, so in a lot of ways I'd say their situation is even more grim. I agree with what you said about...

  • @amandapearl2books bashing other people reading skills.

  • I agree with you about the whole realism thing. I honestly advise you not to waste time reading the rest of the Hunger Games Series because the third book ruins everything the first two built.

That being said, Battle Royale is definitely more relatable and the best part of it is the delving into each of the kids. I felt as though I was ripped off of the experience when reading HG because everyone dies out of sight and there isn't really any connection.

  • @tayroar271 I actually really liked the third book, but poor Katniss couldn't catch a break! She was always in the hospital lol.

  • Both novels are pretty good but like you said i also think that battle royale is the more superior. In HG it wasn't as realistic, the characters seemed kind of forced, It didn't show as much information on how the government thinks as BR showed, the story moved very slow, and the romance was unescessary and dragging of time. But it was definatley creative and i do look forward to the movie. BR will always be my favorite though and the much more superior one.

  • I like Hunger Games but it's not that original and the characters are kind of blah except for maybe 4 characters in the whole series.

  • It's not that many reviewers on YT that can speack so clear on consise while reviewing ... got a nice picture of both books withour spoilers... I've ordered BR the novel, seen the movie long time ago, wicked movie :) ... thanks

  • @morpheos111 Thank you for the compliment! Yep I'm trying to spread the Battle Royale love around. I see so many reviewers who are like, OMG the Hunger Games is like, SUCH an original idea! I loved it SOOO much! It's so unique! I'm like um no, it's not that original, sorry. lol
