  • i find this video kind of ironic. because you know...they hired actors for the people in it. hahahaaaaa

  • She's not French is she?

  • she is in brooklyn!!!!!! i must find her....

  • she is AMAZING live!! talented and beautiful? life ain't fair...

  • She's the girl for her time and place.

  • @submoronicbomb word

  • Born in OK. She grew up in Dallas and attended Lake Highlands High School.

  • she is such an attractive creature.

  • i think im in love.... shes brilliant! mixing movies and writing her own scores? wow!

  • She comes across as authentic and truly in love with what she's doing. I like that :)

  • Nope, Oklahoma.

  • She said she played with a group in Dallas. Is she originally from Texas?

  • She's an absolute Doll!

  • Yay, Criterion Collection!

  • I. Want. To. Be. Her.

  • she's only ten years older than me. we might just get married.

  • marry me annie, i'll be so good to you

  • @hardyguruguy01 I see what you did there.

    Still, <3 Annie Clark.

  • i also want to marry her

  • I want to marry her, and I'm already married. to my husband ;-)

  • She rocks so hard !

  • Let's all marry her. The water's warm.

  • i wish you looked like her too

  • "I'm such a big fan of guitar that's really, disgusting, like gnarly. No other word for it, just gnarly."

    so awesome!

  • she's so pretty and adorable and awesome, i wish i looked like her! xD

  • me too...^^

  • I also want to marry her.

  • I want to marry her.

  • I wanna marry her

  • Wow, she's a cutie.

  • she is my hero.

  • Um. Woody Allen? I love you, Annie. Wow.

  • God, I am so in love with her.

  • had the exact same thought.

  • this girl is amazing live btw.

  • I mean I know she's a musician and she wants people to pay attention to her music (which I do), but damn if she's not adorable.

  • She was so cute when she came here. "Hello Providence. Hello... chilly, chilly, chilly providence."

  • i love her, and she loves gnarly guitar. being a musician, i am VERY attracted to music ladies!!

  • im in love with her. is that weird?

  • Not at all.

  • wow! she is so cute! really talented, really smart and genuine! i would love to meet her in person.

+ she's recorded one of the best records of 2009

  • I think I can partly settle the argument. I first heard her music and was totally captivated (free download of the week on iTunes). I bought the rest of her record on iTunes. One of my favorites ever. THEN I searched her up.

She is really cute, I wouldn't say that to her face if I just met her. But the awesome part is: it's not flaunted. On Letterman and Kimmel she didn't have that "sexy" look. That's cool and special.

If her talent didn't come first I wouldn't be here watching this video.

  • Finally--a guy who likes a girl because she doesn't flaunt herself. She's one of my role models, partly because we have a lot of things in common and so it's nice having someone to relate to, but also because she is genuine, super creative, and men respect the type of woman she is, aside from her obvious appeal as a musician.

  • I just had a beer.... Lemme know when you get genuine, super creative, and respect men.... we'll hook up.

  • dude thats like.....funny :D like Idk why but I'm dying of laughter on the inside, its like I feel alive for the first time ever. Of course it'd be sweet if I had a beer too, but sadly no, I am just stuck sipping on a Voss D: fml

  • Nothing like a Voss and Heineken mix drink, cheers

  • I like this song a lot.

  • why all those discussions anyway?

everybody agree that she is beautifull and tallanted, everybody here enjoy her music - whats the problem?:))

  • Right!

  • this is one amazing human being.

  • No, there's actually more guys raging on this page because waaah waaah waaah they were briefly told that Annie Clark should be first appreciated for her talents, and not only her physical beauty. Apparently this is a difficult level for most of you to reach! Your comments all sound... real crazy.

  • Pretending to ignore the fact that she is beautiful is pathetic. She is. Pretending people aren't drawn to art that is both beautiful looking and sounding is more pathetic. You can choose to be bitter about human nature or you can embrace it's quirky nature. It is quirky, unfair, inspiring, beautiful, annoying and enigmatic all at the same time. It always has been and always will be. The question is; Who will you be?

  • What a great comment! I couldn't have said it any better. And yes, she is gorgeous. But that just adds to her music and art. This is the type of woman I would marry. You know, the quirky, different, but talented type. Not the Angelina Jolie's and Megan Fox's that people think are so beautiful.

  • Yes so true. At 20 I wouldn't have looked twice at her. At 30, I can only dream of spending time with a woman like her. Funny isn't it... Or sad, I'm not sure which.

  • Very well said.

  • I saw her on Austin City Limits. Within 10 seconds i was entranced. Everything about this woman drew me in. Her music first and foremost. It was like watching a very hip Snow White sing Disney songs with one hell of an edge to them. I loved it

  • Also there in Columbus...she was absolutely awesome.

  • St. Vincent is my new favorite band since I saw them open for Andrew Bird Yesterday in Columbus. Effing fantastic. I was about to skip the opening band altogether and I'm so glad I didn't because now I'm obsessed.

  • Hell yeah I was there and St. Vincent almost outshined Andrew. ALMOST.

  • she is naturally very pretty- i dont think you can argue with that- i like it when she says gnarly guitar!

  • I love Annie and the music crowd that she's associated with. I love that she's a writer, I love that she speaks intelligently. Wheee I love Annie!

  • you're right!!! let's all censor our comments to appease all the bitter and imbalanced people...

  • I agree w/the last comment. It's 2009, yet women are still objectified more often than not before they are celebrated as artists. I think overtime as more women are accepted in the media, society will become familiar with women as artists and this issue will fade.

Anyways, this was a really awesome video. Reminds me of Portishead and the movie Fight Club. A+ for her mentioning Criterion collection! Interesting for her to challenge herself with such exercises. I need to get this album on vinyl..

  • you talk smart one day!

  • do you guys realize how enormously fucking irritated serious female musicians get at retarded drooling "ooh she's gorgeous!" comments? who the fuck cares. you're implying that if she looked like angela merkel she'd be somehow less worthy as an artist. she's being interviewed because she makes music, not because of her bone structure or makeup skills. would you direct these type of comments towards people you know in real life? no. you wouldn't. shut the fuck up. humanism. equality.

  • I think she's the most gorgeous person ever. I don't really understand her music though. What's your problem? We're just appreciating a person on another dimension.

  • if you think she's "the most gorgeous person ever" you need to get out more, as i'm sure annie would agree

by by swooning hysterically over her looks you automatically imply that anyone who isnt as finely featured who had the same amount of talent would be consequently less of an artist. that is unpleasant

  • How do you know what irritates Annie Clark or not? You have no idea. Not to mention, most women like to be called beautiful, regardless if they're serious or not. A person can comment on someone's good looks and still like their music. All they are doing is saying she is pretty. How is that in any way offensive? When I saw her live, everyone in the crowd was so pleased because not only is she gifted musically but she wonderful to watch. She's a true artist.

  • Correction: She is wonderful to watch.

  • Yeah I know what you mean. But still, when someone's beautiful, someone's beautiful. There's no denying it. However, I do hate it when people care more about the looks than they do the music though.

  • Your an absalute moron. Sorry if shes attractive. The fact that you think that pointing that out is degrading her is rediculous. If some ones says that I'm attractive I'm polite about it. "Yes thank you" I would say. I wouldn't be a complete asshole and say "What am I just something to look at?" and put on a humanist shirt and protest the capitol. You remind me of a guy I met who had one arm and looked like Bob Dylan who couldn't take a compliment. You're one armed Bob Dylan.

  • She's gorgeous, but her songs, and her guitarwork ('dirty' is right!) are astonishing -- wait until you hear "Marry Me John." What a voice!

  • wrong song name, guy

  • Yes, I see that. The first three words of the refrain are "Marry me, John." So it's an easy uh mistake to make. And vitally important it be corrected, so thanks.

  • That's actually a really cool exercise!

  • First thing that occurred to me when I heard "The Strangers" for the first time was that it sounded like the scene in Snow White where she's in the woods and then gets chased by the huntsman guy, if Annie Clark had scored that movies. Turns out that that's a possible influence for that song after all :)

  • she is pretty

  • THIS is Annie's Time! she's paid her dues...time for her to shine...great performance on Kimmell!

  • whoa i didn't know she was in The Polyphonic Spree

  • same. and her touring with sufjan is pretty sweet

  • It says something in the description about Annie Clark liking dichotomy. Well she can have some of my dichotomy any time she likes, IF YOU KNOW WHAT IM SAYING! *high five guys*

  • no josh shes mines and thats why shes coming here oct.1 to see me ha!

  • Annie Clark is the prettiest person like ever.

  • im in love with annie clark...

  • I figured she had something for Disney. The Strangers really shows that, it's like being at a Magic Kingdom show or something.

  • once again, she is such a great talent, really awesome arrangements and strong songwriting!

  • But it loooks beautiful with her. she is flawless.

  • Comment removed

  • i'm in love

  • yeah, she's pretty much the perfect woman.

  • i like guitar thats really disgusting or...what? thanks

  • really disgusting or "gnarly." :o)

  • I want to see her live so bad. Next time she's in town for sure.

  • I saw her last week and met her after the show. She was fantastic and what impressed me was that she came out when the roadies were setting up and helped them out. And when I told her I could not afford to buy an album at the show, she said that I was getting something more special just by being there. Wonderful!

  • Yeah, she seems really cool for sure. It nice to see that 4AD still signeds good artists.

  • i really like actor. great album. i recommend it to everyone!!! does she really use drugs?

  • She's quite a talent. Refreshing to see in the sea of talentless soul "divas" and other pop starlets offered up in the mass market.

  • dextromethorphan hydrobromide

  • Her album "Actor" is fantastic. She is truly inspiring

  • She's so pretty!

  • she seems so rad.

  • I'm so totally gay for her.. *heart*

  • How can you not fall in love with her? Yea, I have to get this album soon, but "Actor Out of Work" is an awesome song.

  • she is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo pretyy

  • I like the way she sings, plays ,talks and tweets.

  • Marry Me? :]

  • she has the cutest skinny face

    hahaha(:

    i love her music

  • haha "skinny face". its a term i haven't heard before, but it works.

  • *melts*

  • I think her music is too smart for the commercial stations in Vancouver.

So I play her music on my show, and I play local music. One of the best acts this last little while. I can't stop listening to "Actor".

  • This lady is going places.

  • She is super likable.

  • You spit da truff.

A friend of mine was a photographer at one of her shows.

Gave him a hug. Of course, he was smitten.

    She's like a down-to-earth superhero or something.

  • HUGE ALBUM!

  • i love her..

  • you think you might?

  • This is a truly great album
