The sad fact is that some gypsies make a bad name for the whole lot, by thieving, littering and trespassing. This in turn drives the house prices in the local area down, leaving those who have worked hard to pay for their house out of pocket, and is therefore unfair, especially seeing as the majority of mobile travellers do not pay anything into the national welfare system. Unfortunately, there is no long term solution to the issue, with the minority of gypsies having ruined it for the majority.
If you are going to live as a georgie then you should integrate. The concept of land as property goes back to Roman times, long before the Gypsies. Therefore the concept of trespass is an old one. This makes it near impossible for gypsies to live like their forebears when large stretches of land were still owned by the crown and not in private hands.

Yes I know others take advantage and find loop holes but without planning permission chaos will rule. Some of the gypsy homes (permenant structures) seem to be well built and may conform to code but many don't. Planning permission isn't just permission to build what you like .

If I was rich enough to buy a nice home for 500k and my neighbour had bought a plot of green belt beside me and paid less than 50 grand for the land and materials to build a 500k home I would feel pissed.

The sad fact is that some gypsies make a bad name for the whole lot, by thieving, littering and trespassing. This in turn drives the house prices in the local area down, leaving those who have worked hard to pay for their house out of pocket, and is therefore unfair, especially seeing as the majority of mobile travellers do not pay anything into the national welfare system. Unfortunately, there is no long term solution to the issue, with the minority of gypsies having ruined it for the majority.

If you are going to live as a georgie then you should integrate. The concept of land as property goes back to Roman times, long before the Gypsies. Therefore the concept of trespass is an old one. This makes it near impossible for gypsies to live like their forebears when large stretches of land were still owned by the crown and not in private hands.

Yes I know others take advantage and find loop holes but without planning permission chaos will rule. Some of the gypsy homes (permenant structures) seem to be well built and may conform to code but many don't. Planning permission isn't just permission to build what you like .

There is good and bad in everyone. In the part previous to this, the dark skinned guy says there are lots of different types of romaesque.
Ethnic Cleansing is a bit strong but there is definatley racism when it comes to roms and their ilk. Most of the comments on this video are terrible, and if this video was about any other ethnic group, there would be a law suit.
The thing is, the governmetn dont see us as "races" because they think you make a choice to "be" a traveller. It isnt a lifestyle.

some gypsies have set up where i live. i'm 16 i never use to height gypsies,but since i've become an apprentise builder,i've already had to fight of some gypsies trying to steal are cement mixer and chuck on the back of a van,already had £3000 worth of tools stolen of my boss.and now two lads from the gypsie park have been looking around our house.

Can't believe this - fucking stupid laws we have, the law should be if you buy land - its yoursto do with as you wish. All they are trying to do is set up their own community on they own land. Think what you will of gypsies - they are a race, in fact their culture has more morals than any other. They look after their families and protect them. This is ridiculous...what year are we in? I'm surprised they aren't 'burning the gypsies out' - think what you will - they are still humans like you or I.

The reason the government doesn't include pikeys in housing plans is because they do not want to live in houses. Local governments have now been forced to provide permanent camps for these fucking people.
Personally, I don't see why. They do not pay taxes, do not contribute to society and have chosen to live outside of society themselves. So why the fuck should society pay and provide for them? Get rid.

I would like to visit such a community to see what it's really like there - I would like to rectify the stereotypes the media has set in my mind.
