Where is the best place to catch snook?

  • @dawgyg86 i know im not capt chancey but i know where you wanna go at night with some live shrimp or live finger mullet and you go near a bridge or one of those tunnels and if the tide is going under the tunnel, cast it under there and leave it if its the opposite do same thing it dosent matter as long as your fishing at night and by some structure like a bridge tunnel dock etc. caught alot of big ones by the way and im only 13

  • @stkpivotX

Very good advice. Thanks for responding.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

    We used Thredfin. Good Luck.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • This is the time of year to fish for nice snook. Fish outgoing tides if you want good fish. I lived in Naples for 18 years and caught MANY fish over 20 lbs. regularly. A fish such as the one in this vid is a HUGE female that was probably over 40 lbs. Theyn really don't get a whole lot bigger than that. Congrats Captain!

  • @gordonfanchris

    Thank you very much.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • snooooooooook

  • They edit the film so it only shows the big ones.

  • How do you only catch big fish, or catch them so regularly, i never seem to see a small bi catch etc

  • @jakeone78

We catch small ones to but they are not as fun to see.

  • I just caught a 42 in 28lb snook alst night :D at Sanibell Harbour Resort in Ft. Myers FL, at their Marina, I was pitching a 6 in greenback under the dock it was a 10 minute fight :D Biggest fish of my life :P

  • @Grayd0g117

    Cool

  • @Grayd0g117

If you wanna get a TRUE Snook fishing training - try Juno Pier, FL. There are HUNDREDS of them around the pier. Cast right next to the pier ALWAYS! In the morning and afternoon use live bait, but when is sunny over the day steep on the bait to make them stinky and HOLD ON YOUR ROD! There are a lot of monster snook around easy 35" average. My personal record so far 43" - 3 minutes fight - i had heavy gear - 70lbs braid, penn 4/0 - 8' custom rod.

  • @moftacom

I like your style of fishing.

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • I caught a snook Saturday night. It was 32" long and about 17 lbs!! What a GREAT fight. Had a blast AND have the picture to prove it (I always catch and release). My husband and I watched them play on top of the water for over an hour. Amazing fish!!!

  • Nice response moron.

Just saying, it was a nice fish in the vid, no doubt .... travel on over to Wiggans Pass in Naples where they grow monsters. Hook up a Ladyfish and hold on.

  • :34 it a snook u guys.

it is almost sound like he just dilevered a baby, or a fish

  • didnt say what he caught it on??!!

  • why the hell is he so emotional? Oo

  • only in florida.

  • how big is it?

  • you should get on english tv rather than shiity rex hunt and all that, more entertaining and better fish!

  • Damn that thing is huge! I was thinking i had a lunker snook at 41 inches and just over 20 pounds but was i wrong, that thing is prolly close to 40lbs!

  • Great catch Capt. I sure enjoyed it. You should bring "Chew on This" to fish in Panama. We have awsome fishing of all kinds down here. Lots of big Tarpon, snook, Marlin, Cubera snapper, Roosters, the works.

  • I would love to one day. Once we get the budgeting up and running smoothly we plan on traveling all over and Panama sounds great.

    Merry Christmas!

    Godspeed,

    Capt Ben

  • same one

  • what type of avet would u recomend for big snook, bonita, kingfish and big jacks?

  • I like the MXL

  • I live in the netherlands & I caught 1 of 1m and 5 cm, big fish

  • oh lol i tought like snook- > Snoek (dutch)

but nvm + is salt water so xD

  • wow

  • i got my biggest snook yesterday down in bonita, it had to be over 40" but i caught it on heavier conventional gear i had in a pvc pipe on the beach that i threw out to the deeper water for tarpon but the current was strong so i just let it drift along the beach and the big snook ate the cut bait..not much of a challenge with 80 lb braid and 200 lb mono leader but he still bent that 7 foot fiberglass rod in half and peeled out a nearly locked down drag at first i thought it was a tarpon

  • That is pure heaven!!!!! Nun like that in Boca Grande.

  • On August 22, 2009 Chew On This was the first and only fishing show to reach 10,000,000 million YouTube viewers. Thank you all!

  • Nice fish man. BUT,,, I had my brother down from Joizy, in '91 and nailed one in Jupiter inlet that was 55# and 48".

Yes, she was eaten.(back then their was no "lunker law".

You had a slot, but were allowed one BIGGIN.

Cought her on a 8" silver mullet on a 4/0 livebait hook.

  • @fishkiller41 it must have had huge frkn fillets on it!!!

  • at light house point marina there is a snook that big maybe even bigger we call big bertha and she loves to eat our snapper and jacks then break us of that snook has broken 250lb test we just cant catch it

  • I know someone and their dad got bitten in the arm by a bull shark while releasing a snook. It mistook his arm for the snook. He still has his arm, though...

  • why isn't the fish dead? was he harmed?

  • wow that snook is great capt ben grate job

  • can you eat snook?

  • Of course! It's delicious!

  • oily as heck

Fillet, freeze, pack in dry ice, and send the fillets to me.

    For proper disposal. ;-)

  • lol

  • mine was bigger

  • sick boat

  • i just cought a 10 pnder today

  • i know the people whose house that is, and know exactly how to get there by boat! i did not know it was such a good snook spot. what were u sing for bait when you caught that lunker?

  • I like that fish to get chopped and boil it with onion, tomatoes, lemon grass and sampaloc mix , uhmm yummy fish soap.

  • are u talking about "sinigang" lol

  • Yap. I imagine it would be an awesome sweaty fish meal!!lol

  • and ruin snook?! whats wrong with you.. grill or panfry

  • i lost a monster earlier tonight fishing the intercostal docks and boats..at first i didn't realize how big it was, once i realized i wasn't going to be able to put too much pressure on him i eased up and there wasn't much pressure at all, not enough to break me off, then he either sawed me off on the bottom or with his own gills, or mouth..there was a rough spot on the leader end where he broke me off..fish big mullet or a lure that looks just like one and fish it on the bottom for the big ones

  • oops scratch that its like 40 haha.

  • holy crap dude thats got to be like 20 pounds its so big.

  • haha yea nice save

  • waaaaaaayyyy more than that son

  • Beautiful catch- nice job captain!

  • ....I should have commented on your catch there Captain. That sir is a fantastic snook! Really anytime a fellow catches one like that he can easily consider it a once in a lifetime catch. There aren't many out there like that! Congratulations!

  • ...Last year I was vacationing in Bonita Beach there on Florida's west coast and caught a 26 lb. snook, a really nice fish. I got broke off by what looked like a fish double that size, it couldn't have been, but looked like it! One of those under the dock monsters. I pitched bits of offal over from cleaning fish, and fooled the giant with a hook and line tossed along. He broke off 40 lb. line immediately on my snubbed down drag....Back in 1961 I got a 48 lb'r from Kelly Gant's dock in Naples.

  • i freshwater fish alot but i saltwater fish sometimes my biggest is a 43lbs 13 ounce channel catfish i cAUGHT FISHING FOR bass using a live bream

  • Good Job!

  • thanks

  • Dude if thats the biggest Snook you've ever seen then tell the people that sponsor you to hook me up with all the tackle they give you and I'll so you a new state record!! It was a big Slob but not the biggest I've ever seen nor any of the locals around my way!!

  • I'll give you a chance to proove it. I will be in Stuart for two months starting in July. Let's see what you got. No excuses!

    God Speed,

    Capt Ben

  • stuart florida thts where i live!!!!

  • nice snook

  • What is Florida's record

  • 44lbs and a few oz's I believe.

    God Speed,

    Capt Ben

  • In Florida, we have to throw them back, if over 32 inches. If you are playing by the rules, then you understand...

  • ok thats pretty and looks huge but it isn't the florida world record..

  • i bet that was a real good long fight..i caught 4 of them today about 25-30 inches by this lighted dock on a canal right off the river, that size puts up a real nice fight, i had to keep getting new leaders and they took a while to bring in, they were about 70 feet out when i hooked them and they took out more line..they scratched the hell out of my new expensive mirrolure and yozuri though with those rough mouths and strong jaws

  • That's just unbelievable. Beautiful snook man...

  • how many lbs was it

  • 42.3 pounds by the formula

  • what rod and reel were u using???

  • We use Cape Haze 15 to 40 pound class 7 footer with an Avet 2spd MXL 6/4

  • he shoulda kept it and ate it raw

  • I have seen some pretty big snook before, but damn, great job!!!!!!

  • that fish looks offly tired he couldnt hav been cought at that time

  • love the show..tells alot about someone and im a big fisher..my favorite thing to do besides duck hunting. in fact just today i caught a 22in black drum that i am truthfully proud of.

  • it would be funny if it just got away while he was reeling it in

  • He didn't kill it he released it

  • christ! thats all im gonna say like

  • That fish looked very tired when it came to the boat, almost like it was a staged catch on video. What I mean is that it was caught before, saved live, and then re-enacted as a catch for the viewing audience. Not saying that Capt. Ben didn't catch it... just saying that the original catch didn't happen at that moment in time caught on video. Either way, it's an awesome Snook.

  • You are exactly right. We were not filming on this day. The only camera we had was our underwater camera. So we brought it out and then filmed the landing. Good eye.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • Thanks Capt. Ben. You're honesty is appreciated more than the awesome accomplishment of catching such an awesome fish itself. Says a lot about you. Great show!

  • holy crap! Cant believe you caught one that big on video. Thats the only fish ive ever seen that is comparable to the 48x29 fish we caught in Jupiter 2005.

  • Those fish are awesome in Jupiter.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • w0w that is the biggest snok ive ever seen great job mann!

  • how long was this?

  • It was 47 by 27

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • That's an amazing fish! Great job Ben.

  • Thredfin

  • last year i catch 14 snook's in colima mexico..betwen2 kilos and 8 kilos, each one,,an the bigger was 22 kilos ,,i dont now how much equivalent in pounds but it was giant,,

  • I believe it is 2.2 pounds per KG. Sounds like you caught a huge Snook. Awesome Job!

    Regards,

    Capt Ben

  • 44.4 pound snook. :)

  • in mexico, anything is possible...:)

  • great catch,,,in mexico we called robalos,,u got be carefull with this babes, because they have knives behind his mouth,,

  • Nice catch Captain, I live on the river in Jensen and can appreciate the feeling

  • Awesome, I am a little jealous.

    Regards,

    Capt Ben
